Just another Typical Summer Storm - OU Rain RMT

Just another Typical Summer Storm
---------------------------
Hi guys, Eternity here. I've been experimenting several ways to abuse rain and this team has shown. Since my 2nd home server allows Swift Swim + Drizzle, I could have some fillers. I also lack one or two walls because I like to play heavy offensive. I've tried Jellicent but find mediocre success with it, if there's any others that fare well in rain please tell me! Thanks for RMTing! EDIT - Genesect is a particular threat to this team, any ideas?

Starmie @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Rapid Spin
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam

Perfect lead. While Starmie adds an extra life orb to my team it's raw power is amazing in rain and out. Spins for Dragonite and Thundurus.

@ Choice Scarf
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Perish Song
- Hypnosis /Hidden Power [Grass]
Starter of the Show. Good ol' Politoed. Abuses Hydro Pump and Hypnosis. Sleeping Pokemon are setup on by Thundurus. Ice Beam and Focus Blast are just fillers and I don't find myself using them at all because Hydro Pump is just that deadly.

@ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Thunder
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
Ever since Gen V started I've found no replacement for this guy. Latios is the man for the job. Draco Meteor is HUGE on revenge killing and Thunder hits Jellicent and other Pokemon that try and wall. HP FTG is not helpful, making me lose the speed tie, so if there is another move that covers common walls please help!
CURRENTLY FERROTHORN TESTING
448.gif
@ Life Orb
Trait: Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- ExtremeSpeed
- Ice Punch
- Close Combat
Physical Sweeper. I recently started using Lucario and it was worked out so well. Swords Dance is quite easy to set up, I'm not sure if I should use Sash or Balloon. I often die from EQ...anyways Close Combat is too easy to abuse even without the SD boost and Ice Beam and Extremespeed are for the Lati as well as common SAtkers.

149.gif
@ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 32 Atk / 224 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Outrage

Idk about this guy. I always hate this one spot because I have troubles. My very old rain team abused him but now as I'm higher in the ladder more counters have rose. Hurricane is great in rain, as Thunder, but this is a risky set. I run Gliscor over him sometimes.

642.gif
@ Lum Berry
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Nasty Plot
- Focus Blast

As for Thundurus, this guy is the Satk star. Thunder hits so hard you never know what hit you. HP ice is for unsuspecting Latios and Focus Blast whacks Ferrothorn hard across the face. Nasty Plot is great, but I can't usually find the time to do it. Lum Berry is for parahaxers that waste a turn. Normally they are 2HKO'd.

So that's my RMT. Feel free to comment, criticise, hate, etc. Thanks for RMTing!

This is a pretty good team, just replace Life Orb on Dragonite with Leftovers, as Life ORb breaks Multi Scale, which you want to keep in tact for as long as possible.

Hey there.

It seems like your team would really benefit from having a rapid spinner, as you have 2 pokemon weak to Stealth Rock. I would recommend replacing Rotom-W with a Life Orb Starmie, as you already have a scarfer in Politoed, and Life Orb Starmie can do massive damage in rain.

Starmie @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Rapid Spin
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam

Starmie is one of the best rapid spinners in the ou metagame, and thanks to the sheer power of LO Hydro Pump in rain, people are almost forced to go into their Blisseys, allowing you to get off a free rapid spin. Thunder is very useful as well, as it hits the best ou spinblocker, Jellicent, very hard.

On Politoed, replace Focus Blast with Perish Song. It can save you from being swept if necessary; Focus Blast is really only useful on the Choice Specs set as it allows you to ohko Tyranitar and severely damage Ferrothorn.

Also, as fatsnorlax mentioned, replace Life Orb on Dragonite with Leftovers for more survivability.
Overall, solid team.

umm, like you I like to play very offensive just by running the ever evident ferrothorn backbone for defence, but you must have realized half your team is choiced, 2 of the last 3 are life orbed and the one thats not would benefit the most from life orb than the others.

for latios run hp fire over fighting helps cover more weaknesses and is overall better

Hey man, this is a really solid rain team here. A concern that I have here is that you lack stealth rock, meaning that threats such as Dragonite, Salamence, and even Thundurus will become even more of a problem than they really should be. Bulky waters, especially those with toxic, will prove to be a pain for this team to face since most of them have ways around the best team members that you have to check them. Ferrothorn would work excellently on this team as a steel type as it is one of the best switch ins out there to 'mons such as Gastrodon. Not only that, but Ferrothorn also gives you an excellent source of stealth rocks so that you don't have to worry about that anymore. It also has the ability to become an excellent initial switch to threats such as the lati twins and Starmie even in the rain. Lucario seems like the weakest link on this team by far. It is essentially dead weight on this team especially since it seems that you lack an initial switch into fast specially based threats.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Sassy | 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SpD [0 Spe IV]
Stealth Rock / Power Whip / Leech Seed / Gyro Ball

Double dance Terrakion is a pretty large problem to this team. Even after a rock polish, most members of this team are doing to struggle surviving attacks and it seems like it could easily clean this team up later in the match. Not to mention that the choice band set does massive damage to this entire team even being able to 2HKO some resistances with close combat. You could use another solid fighting resist besides Dragonite and Latios to help you out. This is why a taunt + sd Gliscor would really do well in Latios' place. Since Gliscor is one of the most solid switch ins to Terrakion, it will not longer trouble you. Also, Gliscor will really help you in winning against threats such as Excadrill and Breloom, which is pretty much absolutely needed on a team like this. Gliscor also is a pain against stall teams being able to taunt and get free boosts versus lots of members on more defensively based teams. A set with swords dance | taunt | ice fang | earthquake would work very well on Gliscor with a spread of 252 HP | 176 Def | 80 Spe and an impish nature with a toxic orb is the best set for this team. Another small suggestion is to use a set of hydro pump | ice beam | perish song | hidden power [grass] on Politoed. Perish song really helps prevent last 'mon sweeps and works very well as a last ditch move against bulky set up sweepers. Hidden power grass helps a lot by being able to hit bulky water types such as Gastrodon for some damage as well.

After all of those suggestions, you will have a very solid team on your hands. Good Luck.

Well, you have a lot of natural speed on the team, Starmie being probably the highest against non-Scarfers, and then you actually have a Scarf Politoed, and then there's 350 Latios and 353 Thundurus. With all that said, perhaps you can lower your Lucario's power from Extremespeed to Bullet Punch. This helps you revenge kill Terrakion, prevents Gengar from ruining your sweep, and you're still able to damage the Latis that the rest of your outspeeding team couldn't fully do.

Dragonite seems to add on to a lot of common weaknesses. You already have an Ice problem, so why not remove that for your needed hazards? Any of the steels would do fine in this scenario. You can run Skarmory, who takes care of the sand abusers as well. You can run Forretress, who can also Rapid Spin, which can allow you to replace Starmie for something more beneficial to your likings. Then there's also Jirachi, who can just keep passing Wishes along. Just plug and play with a Stealth Rocking steel to see which fits best.

Wow, thanks for all the Rates! I'm currently testing Starmie/Politoed/Ferro/Lucario/Gliscor/Thundurus. As AB2 said, I do have a dead weight in Lucario and I find it very hard to switch into it without taking a hard hit. Any other physical sweepers that would do well in rain? Kabutops? I'm allowed to have DW pokemon on my home server, but not the Uber bans

Hey Aequilipse, nice team!
You may test this three things:
A defensive Politoed, it´s great for setting up with another team member:

Politoed @ Leftovers

252 HP / 40 Def / 216 SpDef Calm Drizzle
Encore - Perish Song - Protect/Ice Beam - Scald

With this set you can trap the opponent in Encore, Perish Song or in a burn. Then you can switch into Thundurus, Lucario, or my next suggestion: DD Nite

Dragonite @ Leftovers
252 HP / 52 Att / 204 Spe Jolly Multiscale
Dragon Dance - Roost - Dragon Claw/Outrage - Earthquake

The bulky Dragon Dancer, it comes many times to 2-4 DDs and kills whole teams, 204 Speed to outspeed all 135 Speedbases.

And next: try to play Substitute > FBlast on Thundurus
Now you say BLAAAAAH FERRO BLAAAAAAAAAAAH, but I say: sub, np x 3 = gg. Also, so you have a check for all the status inducers, like breloom, or those Toxic Staller. You switch in with Thundurus and Lum Berry activates, Bliss is thinking "lol, bringing thundurus in me, stupid idiot! now i´ll toxic him and i´ll start my stall xD", but you say "f*ck you pissey!" you´re making a sub and then you kann boost and attack with a very powerfull Thunder.

Overall, solid team and good work guy! Good luck!

No^^ If you know, Blissey will use Toxic: Switch into Thundurus, Lum Berry activates, pissey thinks: "good..., than again toxic, how he want to defeat me, lol. a SPECIAL attacker and ME! lol" thundurus makes his sub, he uses toxic, toxic comes into the sub and you can use np^^
