[Overview]
This 300 million old monster is back to redeem itself by becoming an offensive threat with its entry into Doubles. Kabutops is pretty frail but that doesnt mean you ignore this monster. If you are running rain offense and you are looking for something Fast and Physical look no further Kabutops is the choice for you!
  • Looks Fierce I mean look at it!
  • Swift swim shenanigins
  • Super powerful.
  • Partially wrecks Sun teams with its sheer power under the rain.
  • Electricity scares it off easily, Lightningrod mons are a good partner as it does not let Prankster Thundurus slow it down. Along with Politoed to set up rain as soon as possible to use swift swim.
[Set]
Name: Physical Swift Swim Sweeper Move 1: Waterfall
Move 2: Aqua Jet/Low Kick
Move 3: Stone Edge/Rock Slide
Move 4: Protect/Low Kick
Item: Life Orb/Lum berryAbility:Swift Swim
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
[Set Comments]
  • Arguably its best set in Doubles for Kabutops Since it cannot play many other roles.
  • Swift Swim is an excellent ability.
  • Waterfall STAB Stone Edge STAB
  • Protect can be used if rain is not set up and to scout since this thing attracts a lot of attention on the field Protect can allow its partner to take out things threatening its sweep potential.
  • High speed and power makes it impossible to set up on.
  • Aqua Jet wont be needed most of the time since its speed is very high under the rain but it can be used when rain is not up.Swords Dance can be used but it The sheer presence of this Thing on the field is a red flag to take it out.Hone Claws can be used to increase the accuracy of Stone Edge.
  • Low Kick is used for heavier threats but all things weak to Low Kick can be hurt by
[Additional Comments]
  • EVs are straight forward and ready to wreak havoc.
  • Outspeeds most threats in the doubles metagame.
  • Works only on Rain teams.
  • Likes Choice Band, but being locked into a wrong move in doubles can be fatal.
  • Completely screwed over by Trick Room
  • Can Hit very fast and very hard.

Debatable that it rips apart sun teams when every sun team carries a Chlorophyll sweeper.

Sword Dance is OO material and Hone Claws is not even that.

IMO the set should be this:

Waterfall
Rock Slide / Stone Edge (Rock Slide's flinch hax is invaluable)
Superpower / Low Kick (in either order, your call)
Protect

AC: X-Scissor, Lum Berry, Substitute
OO: Sword Dance, Aqua Jet, Choice Band

C&C: mention a lot of these checks are shaky in rain (eg Zapdos will take huge damage from Stone Edge)
other counters: Breloom, Gastrodon, Ferrothorn, Sableye, Sun teams

It says under the rain to rips sun teams.I agree but Kabutops partners should be well aware of the incoming threat and take care of it accordingly.
Rock Slide valuable as it hits multiple targets but stone edge wreaks since kabutops job is to hit hard and fast take out threats before they set up stone edge should see more utility.
I agree will make changes shortly.
What can be the use of X-scissor?what are we exactly checking?
Meh Superpower isnt useful at all as you are basically forced to switch after one move IMO and switching in doubles makes you lose momentum and momentum in doubles is very important.
Other than that nice catch.
Kudos~

Yeah actually X-Scissor is pretty useless, Cresselia is hit harder by a rain-boosted Waterfall and almost as hard by Stone Edge. Celebi is the only target, and it's rare as balls. Drop to OO or even altogether.

Fine about Stone Edge, since it can grab OHKOs on stuff like Salamence, but Rock Slide is a very strong alternative and Kabutops's only usable spread move.

Since Superpower versus Low Kick seems to be a matter of opinion at the moment, I have done some actual research about their respective damage outputs. I present my findings below (on common targets for which Superpower is more damaging than Waterfall and Stone Edge):

252+ Life Orb Kabutops versus 252/0 Gastrodon:
Low Kick: 27 - 32%; Superpower: 55 - 65% (Stone Edge: 35 - 41%)

252+ Life Orb Kabutops versus 4/0 Breloom:
Low Kick: 39 - 46%; Superpower: 78 - 92% (Waterfall in rain: 59 - 69%)

252+ Life Orb Kabutops versus 252/0 Ferrothorn:
Low Kick: 64 - 76%; Superpower: 78 - 91%

252+ Life Orb Kabutops versus 252/0 Chople Berry Bisharp:
Low Kick: 69 - 81%; Superpower: 103 - 122% (Waterfall in rain: 77 - 91%)

252+ Life Orb Kabutops versus 4/0 Hydreigon:
Low Kick: 96 - 113%; Superpower: 115 - 136%

As you can see, there are occasions where Low Kick is actually less damaging than a STAB move, even when the target resists both STABs. Low Kick is so rarely the most damaging move that you may as well run Superpower and use a STAB if you are terrified about stat drops (or, y'know, Protect/switch while your partner takes it down). There's no debate: Superpower should be the primary slash.

Finally, a couple more counters: Conkeldurr really hurts it with Mach Punch; Toxicroak resists everything Kabutops can throw at it and nails it with Cross Chop (making it arguably the best counter to Kabutops in the metagame); Latios also beats it comfortably, though it can be flinch haxed. I'm fine with Abomasnow as a check since most carry either a Focus Sash or a Choice Scarf, both of which let it beat Kabutops 1v1.

ok SHAURYA, ill give this a proper check later but for not this needs work on the formatting. consult this link to learn more on proper analysis formatting (for example other options comes before checks and counters, not after). Also when mentioning Pokemon, simply group similar Pokemon together and then give them individual mentions within those categories instead of listing them all separately (saying swift swimmers like kingdra & ludicolo looks alot better than just listing them separately) . Thanks :)

I'll fix up the formatting and some clear mistakes for you SHAURYA! You seriously need to flesh up this skeleton before you can have this done, so good luck with this :)

[Overview] [Overview] – no bold in any of these tags. In fact, no bold at all in any of these analyses.

If you are running rain offense and you are looking for something Fast and Physical look no further Kabutops is the choice for you! – This part needs to be written up in bullet points only until you have a Quality Control 2/3 Approval. Things work like this so QC can change your things so much more easily than if you wrote things before it being checked up on.

Other than that, you need to do a few things before someone can check this seriously.

· More points on other options.
· Less points in Checks and Counters – list Kingdra and Kingdra under the same category "Swift Swim sweepers faster than Kabutops.", list Rotom-W, Jellicent, and Gastrodon as bulky water types, Ferrothorn, Breloom, and Amoonguss as Grass-types etc.
· More points about Team Options in your Additional Comments section.

Make all of these changes so people have an easier time checking for Quality Control :)

SHAURYA has not been on for 2 weeks+, just saying Laga
Someone probably needs to take this over(not saying that i'm going to take it over, infact i probs shouldn't considering what happened to blaziken)
