Alrighty guys, about a month ago I got back into competitive battling. So, I tried to build the best team I could and I got this. If you played back in the day, it will probably look really familiar. Although this team is "whorish" (4 Pokemon in my party make the top 20 list on usage), it still isn't totally broken. Without further ado, here's the RMT:
Gliscor @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 172 HP/200 Def/138 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd,-SpAtk)
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
I use Gliscor as a lead because of it's resistances, decent speed, and I can also use it later in the game, unlike some leads. Instead of going with the latter spread, I went with a more defensive variant, and replaced Taunt with U-turn instead. Being bulky enough, I went with Jolly to give it as much Speed as possible, because it still does need some Speed investment. Stab Earthquake always is good, even without EV investment. Gliscor also helps me deal with fighting types better than Skarm does.
Gengar @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SpAtk
Timid nature (+Spd,-Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power ~ Fire
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
Sub-Gengar is amazing, and in my opinion, this set is much better than the newly common Sub-Split Gengar. Gengar can do a lot more damage having Hidden Power ~ Fire on Jirachi, Skarmory, Metagross, ect. , and have a nice move to KO Scizor with. Gengar is my more frequent switch in of my three sweepers due to it's immunities to Fighting and Ground.
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def,-SpAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
There's not a whole to explain about Skarmory. In short, Skarm gets Spikes up, Phazes pokes away with Whirlwind, and walls nearly physical pokemon that tries to KO my guys. And of course, SkarmBliss, Skarm taking any hit aimed at Blissey, and vise-versa.
Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SpAtk
Timid nature (+Spd,-Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
Starmie is usually my first Pokemon to go out, and for good reason. With Bolt-Beam, Starmie gets nearly perfect coverage, and with such a high speed stat, it's bound to at least shuffle my opponents Pokemon around. I don't run Rapid Spin on Starmie because my team doesn't mind entry hazards all that much. Starmie (like Blissey) can also take status and then just switch out.
Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Bold nature (+Def,-Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled
- Thunder Wave
Blissey (much like Skarmory) doesn't need much explanation for what it does. Blissey takes status, gives status, takes special hits, and does damage with Ice Beam and Seismic Toss. Blissey (again) goes perfectly with Skarmory defensively and paralizes faster threats for my sweepers.
Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk,-SpAtk)
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- ExtremeSpeed
- Swords Dance
Lucario is my end game sweeper, nothing more than the standard set. I've been thinking about exchanging Crunch for something else due to no Rotom-formes being rare online, and Dusknoir not completely common in usage nowadays. I run Adamant over Jolly because I'd rather have the KO's than the Speed.
So there is my team, and you probably didn't even need to read the descriptions for the guys to know what they did either *laughs nervously*. So a 'whore-ish' team? maybe. Basic? Probably, still though, threatening and pretty Balanced team. Gotta apologize that this isn't exactly the most thorough RMT around, it's been a while.
