Hi guys! I've recently decided to stop lurking and show you my first RMT. It's pretty much an offensive rain team with Keldeo as the main attacker. It's a fun team, but it definitely needs some work, and since I'm a noob and suck at team building I though I could get some advice. I've been testing the team, and it works but it's often hit or miss.
-TEAMBUILDING-
The team started with Keldeo because he is a boss. So, Keldeo will be our revenge killer/ sweeper thing.
So, next I decided to use Gothitelle due to some suggestions I saw here on Smogon. Pretty much the point is to work with Keldeo to beat it's counters.
Next, I decided to use Politoed for rain support since Keldeo is a monster with rain.
I knew I needed some stealth rock/spikes aid to help sweeping , so I added the best spiker under rain, Ferrothorn.
In order to keep rocks off my field allowing my choice users to switch, I added Tentacruel for rapid spin and toxic/scald support.
Lastly, I wanted a thunder abuser so I added Raikou.
-POKEMON-
KELDEO
Brony @ Choice Scarf
Justified
4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spe Timid
-Hydro Pump
-Surf
-HP Ice
-Secret Sword
Honestly, I just chose Keldeo because he's a unicorn. Well, that and he' a monster both under rain and in the late game as a sweeper. It's a pretty standard set with hydro pump and surf for stab. Hydro pump is for dealing massive damage especially rain. Honestly, Surf is good for hitting super effective pokes, but I don't know if I want to use up two spots. Secret sword is a great fighting STAB, and HP Ice great for things like dragon like can't be hydro pumped as easy. I love this things as it just runs through teams.
GOTHITELLE
Princess @ Choice Specs
Shadow Tag
252 SpA, 4 SpD, 252 Spe, Modest
-Psychic
-Signal Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Trick*
Gothitelle is pretty good at covering Keldeo's counters. The purpose is basically just trap and kill, so Keldeo can sweep. Psychic is for STAB. Signal Beam and Thunderbolt and good moves for coverage. I'm not so sure about Trick though. All the times I've battled with it I never really find a good need for it.
POLITOED
Frogger @ Leftovers
Drizzle
252 HP, 252 SpA, 4 Spe, Modest
-Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam
-Focus Blast
-Perish Song
Politoed's purpose is to get up rain, but I guess that's all it ever does. Pretty standard. Hydro Pump for rain STAB. Focus Blast and Ice Beam are good for coverage. Perish Song is really cool as I can use it with Gothitelle to trap and kill Pokemon that may threaten Keldeo.
TENTACRUEL
Squidward @ Leftovers
252 HP, 240 Def, 16 Spe, Timid
-Rapid Spin
-Substitute
-Toxic
-Scald
Tentracruel is a great rapid spinner in rain teams. My choice attackers definitely love being able to switch freely so that's great. Sub + Toxic/Scald allows to scout and get status damage my opponents. (another plus for Keldeo)
FERROTHORN
Demon Thorn @ Leftovers
252 HP, 240 Def, 16 Spe, Relaxed
-Stealth Rock
-Spikes
-Gyro Ball
-Power Whip
Typical rain Ferrothorn. Get up spikes and be a wall. SR and spikes are really great for Keldeo because it can help KO pokemon that would require extra attacks. Gyro Ball and Power Whip are good attacks so that it's not a sitting duck.
RAIKOU
4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spe, Rash
Sparky @ Leftovers
-Thunder
-Weather Ball
-Aura Sphere
-Calm Mind
I chose Raikou in order to abuse Thunder, which he does quite well. Weather Ball is great for incoming ground types who try to switch in, and Aura Sphere hits Pokemon that resist Thunder. Calm Mind allows to boost up power when I get a chance.
Note: As I was typing this, I just realized I have no physical attackers... ...oops. Wow, I really can't believe I missed that.
My biggest weaknesses are other weather teams, especially when I have to worry about the weather war and can't attack freely, and offensive teams that boost up their power and overpower me.
So yeah, I hope you guys can help me out with this average team. Thanks.
