SV UU Keldeo VoltTurn Mayhem

Sup guys. After some years without playing pokémon (I hated S&S and still hate it) I decided to give new UU a go, so I'll be showcasing a team I just built and tested on the ladder.

The Team

The team itself is pretty straightforward.

is the team's main pivot and revenge killer: its job is baiting Steel and Flying types. While its role overlaps with

's, the first offer a nice psychic immunity, and the later offers a better ogerpon check, defensive tipying, and a splashable priority move in bullet punch, which can be used to lure out pokémon such as Heatran, Rotom Wash, Excadrill and Skarmory, who would otherwise be too scared of being pivoted in or losing their items. I wanted to build the team around the 2 best bug pivots of UU over the last years.

comes as a way to fix the team's weakness to fire and exploit switches to Heatran, Skeledirge and Excadrill, while punching roles with its specs set and pivoting with flip turn to keep momentum, if needed.

Well, there's no pressure without a decent hazard setter, so in order to fill that role, I chose

. Two immunities, Mold breaker to threaten rotom wash, and a budget dragon resist. It also has Rapid Spin to clean up my side.

comes as a better rotom and Cobalion check, a fourth pivot, while being many times a solid lead against TornT, Excadrill and Cobalion. Its 2 immunities are appreciated as it helps wall Rotom wash and Excadrill. Psychic was chosen over sludge bomb as a mean to hit Clodsire.

Lastly, I needed a mon that could clean up after my boys punched the holes. Then only one pokémon came to mind:

. But after a few matches, it proved to be a piece of shit, with not enough survivability against many threats and its self healing move being weak, even tho it has priority. Its also Tera reliant. I then gave up on a fourth priority move and chose

, a solid bulky wincon who can even deal with

late game! Tera poison+heatproof brings a lot of decent resists, helps setting up against fire threats, even tho it aint recommended, and you can keep yourself healty against most physical foes with strenght sap. Early, you can throw away your lefties in order to check ogerpon or get a burn from rotom (if TornT is really low), while also checking Cobalion, Exca, Keldeo and Quaquaval.

Threats:

Even tho I have lots of priorities, Psychic Terrain negates them. If Thundurus T is weakened, then Teraing Sinistcha is my only wincon. But that forces my hand as usually its ran on Psychic terrain teams, as mentioned

Latios is a menace. While most of the time it runs a choice locked set, my team has no real dragon resist. Soul Dew and CM or Expert Belt sets can claim a kill before I send in my revenge killer.

Who would ever guess that a team with 2 bug types struggles against a apple. The problem here lies on Tera, as once it teras, I have no means of OHKOing it, being either steel, fairy, or poison. Excadrill falls pretty fast without being able to do much against a +2 giga drain

I feel pivot torn-t just kinda runs this over, with sinistcha, scizor, lokix and ur sole flying resist a thundy-t who hates knock off, this feels like a recipe for disaster coming in 10m.

A solution I would have is to replace the thundy-t with a bellibolt, this makes the matchup against mons like Weavile, Opposing Lokix, Torn-t, and others much more bearable. Another solution is to run something like pickpocket tink > exca which can maybe allow you to run slowking which can pivot in stuff like CB scizor or ur specs keld

Sup. After some tests I came back here to give you a update. Unfortunately Scizor was only stacking weaknesses, so I had to change it to TornT, who keeps both uturn, fighting coverage and knock off. I tried using Bellibolt but most mons just sit on it, so I chose to run Sandy Shocks instead, to provide me a electric immunity since I replaced Exca with Tinkaton (which eased my Latios matchup a lot, thank you :)). Im having a hard time choosing between keeping Sinistcha for a late game wincon or using Hydrapple for the regen+strong dracos, but in the end, the team turned out nicely. The only problem with the Hydrapple variant is that Im kinda weak to SD Balloon Excadrill aaand Banded Arcanine-H. Check it out:

Shocks feels odd personally, sure most mons sat on it but i was more so talking about stuff like weavile, i would likely maybe it an exca so you dont get sit on by spikes completely as smth like skarm + def ttar + heatran
