Sup guys this is my first RMT on smogon. Been playing competitively for a few years but I've only started playing X/Y last month. This is my first serious team on X and Y and I've been doing quite well with it as well however in the last few matches the frailty's of my team have been exposed. Knowing that Smogon is the Pokemon University I know that you guys will be able to help me improve my team. So here's the team :

473.png

Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252Atk/ 252 Spd/ 4Hp
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard

Standard Stealth Rock Mamoswine set. Decided to go for Adamant Nature to inflict that extra damage. Focus Sash is there to ensure that my Mamoswine is able to lay out stealth rocks. Earthquake and Icicle Crash as STAB help Mamoswine to kill of other leads. Ice Shard for the priority move.

Venasaur @ Venasaurite
Ability: Cholorphyll > Thick Fat
EVs: 252Hp/ 4 Def/ 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Leech Seed
- Hidden Power (Fire)
- Sludge Bomb

I wanted to make this Venasaur specially based with the 252 evs in SpD, however I also want it to be able to take Physical hits that's why I decided to go with a Bold Nature. Thick Fat allows Mega Venasaur to take Fire and Ice attacks like a BAWSE! Giga Drain and Sludge standard STAB moves whilst Hidden Power Fire is there to catch those annoying steel types out. Leech Seed is used for extra recovery.

Talonflame @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 72 Hp/ 252 Atk/ 184 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost

Absolute star of the show, I created my team around this guy here. Talonflame is able to sweep teams single handedly. Priority Brave Bird is just not fair. Gale Wings ensures for priority Roost plus the stabbed Flare Blitz ensures that anyone who doesn't resist it is getting hurt. Swords Dance allows for Talonflame to become a greater threat with added attack power.

681.png

Aegislash @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 4 Hp/ 252 Atk/ 252 SpA
Brave Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- King's Shield
- Sacred Sword

Weakness Policy Aegislash is amazing probably one of the best wallbreakers in the metagame. Decided to go for a Brave Nature with most of my evs in Atk and SpA. Kings Shield is pretty much standard on any Aegislash set. Shadow sneak and Weakness policy go well as this allows it to hit even harder. Shadow Ball for that stab and Sacred Sword just to add coverage to the team. Aegislash is also a great spin blocker.

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 168 Hp/ 252 Atk/ 88 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
- Superpower

Azumarill has become really good this gen with it's new typing and added bulk. Decided to go for a Banded set to ensure that Aqua Jet hits harder, with Huge Power + Band + Stab + Priority Aqua Jet is real dangerous. Waterfall hits even harder but loses the priority. Play Rough is there to do real damage to them Dragons and Superpower is there for added coverage.

Excadrill @ Air Ballon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 136 Hp/ 236 Atk/ 136 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

Excadrill works well with Talonflame as it can spin away rocks and also deal with Rotom- W. I decided to go with a jolly nature for that extra speed. Rapid Spin self explanatory to clear the field of any hazard and let Talonflame do his thing. Earthquake and Iron Head as stab, Iron Head deals with those pesky Fairy types. Rock Slide there for extra coverage.

Importable:
Mamoswine (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash

Venusaur (M) @ Venusaurite
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sludge Bomb
- Leech Seed

Excadrill (F) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 136 HP / 236 Atk / 136 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

Talonflame (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Gale Wings
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance

Azumarill (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Huge Power
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Superpower
- Play Rough

Aegislash (F) @ Weakness Policy
Trait: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- King's Shield
- Sacred Sword

I wouldn't reccomend 252 Atk and 252 Sp atl on aegislash try this spread out 252 Sp atk 200 HP and 56 Atk. And switch shadow sneak with pursuit and you have yourself a bulky puruist trapper.

It seems like a duo of sableye and jolly bisharp could do a lot to your team. Also, I would recommend making Aegis quiet over brave, as if you changed the evs, it can take hits, sometimes activating weakness policy and firing back with very powerful shadow balls.

Who do you think should be taken out of the team for these two?

I think that the excadrill and mamoswine are quite redundant. For a substitute rapid spinner I say you could use mandibuzz for defog instead, which also deals with sableye and Bisharp decently

And you could always give Aegi iron head isntead of Sacred sword, for stab and to deal with fairies

Hey, so, I'd recommend running Freeze-Dry > Icicle Crash on Mamoswine and changing it to a Naive nature, now this might seem silly, but it 2HKOes Rotom-W after Stealth Rock, while also having just less than 50% chance to OHKO Gyarados, and trust me, Gyarados will switch into Mamoswine and force it out. After jsut one Dragon Dance, nothing can switch into Gyarados, and even Venusaur is 2HKOed by Ice Fang, and Giga Drain isn't a secure 2HKO. Talonflame can revenge kill it if it is weakend, but it has a 10% chance to 2HKO it without Swords Dance. And now onto Talonflame, why are you running those EVs? What do you live with those HP EVs, honestly? Just run 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe. Ok, now onto Azumarill. I'd personally recommend Knock Off > Superpower, but I guess Superpower can be used for Ferrothorn. Ok, Excadrill. Those EVs are really, really weird, run 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with a Jolly Nature, as now you can deal with Rotom-W, but with those EVs you are outspeed and killed with Hydro Pump or crippled with Will-o-Wisp. And finally, Aegislash. Run 240 Atk / 252 SpA / 12 Spe with a Quiet nature, this is the standard set and works really well. Also, change the moveset to Shadow Ball / Shadow Sneak / Pursuit / King's Shield or Iron Head or Sacred Sword. And Life Orb / Spooky Plate > Weakness Policy. Overall, nice team, just needs a tad bit of fixing~!

Hey man cool team you got here. You seem to have trouble with a lot of physically based threats, relying solely on multiple forms of priority to bring them down. This is a problem because you're often going to have to sacrifice two pokemon or more to bring down one of Garchomp, DD Tar mega or regular, DD Charizard X, or opposing Talonflame. It'd be easy to replace Mamoswine with a defensive Landorus-t. Mamoswine isn't doing much for your team besides setting Stealth Rock and bringing a little extra priority that you have an abundance of already. Landorus-t is able to check so many of the physical threats that trouble you, while being able to set Stealth Rock more effectively throughout the course of a match. The set is 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Spd, Impish Nature, Earthquake / Stone Edge / U-turn or HP Ice / Stealth Rock with Leftovers as the item. The speed lets you outrun Adamant Breloom and Bisharp, with rest in bulk. With such a physically sturdy tank, you can afford to run a SDef boosting nature on Venusaur to better help take Shadow Balls and such.

Like Chesnaught said, those HP EVs aren't that useful on Talonflame, and you might as well go max speed for the 50/50 with opposing Talonflame. Also, unless running a bulky set, leftovers isn't doing too much for Talonflame other than negating some recoil damage which Roost does anyway. Running Sharp Beak gives a pretty substantial power boost to Brave Bird, allows you to bluff a choice set, and doesn't have a drawback like Life Orb. On Excadrill if you're not running max speed, Jolly is pretty useless. The 136 HP don't help Excadrill live anything major, so you might as well go max Spd max Atk Adamant.

That's all I really have to say. Good luck.

Change icicle crash on mamo to endeavor and make him jolly. Endeavor brings them down to 1 hp and ice shard has priority. Jolly is for the faster rocks. Also use oblivious on mamo so he can't get taunted.
