[OVERVIEW]
Kingdra is a powerful offensive pivot with outstanding offensive and defensive stats. Kingdra's excellent typing also allows it to stay in the game for a long time, given that it only has one weakness. However, Kingdra is limited by its shallow movepool, and lacking speed stat. Additionally, it is severely hindered by it's inability to deal with common switch-ins who can take it's STAB attacks with ease. Despite its flaws, Kingdra provides a unique role in being able to both take hits and dish them out equally.

Moves
========
Hydro pump is the main stab, with an impressive 120 base power, and hits everything that does not resist it for lots of damage. However, if you desire a more reliable attack, surf can do the trick. Ice beam provides coverage against grass types which resist Hydro pump, and against Kingdra's only real threat: Dragonite. Double Edge allows Kingdra to muscle through special walls. Finally, Hidden power Dark surprises ghost types who might try to switch in on double edge. Hidden power Fire can be run in order to deal with fortress, who otherwise sponges Kingdra's attacks. If you find that Kingdra is worn down far too quickly despite leftovers, a combo of Rest + Mint Berry can be run to increase it's longevity. Finally, in order to deal with opposing Kingdra, Dragon Breath can be run instead of Ice beam.
Set Details
========
Leftovers is the item of choice if not running rest as it gives amazing passive recovery. If running rest however, Mint berry should be run to immediately wake Kingdra up and keep it in the battle.
Usage Tips
========
Kingdra should be switched in on Pokemon that it has a good matchup against, or that it forces out. Hydro Pump threatens Steelix and Tyranitar, otherwise very bulky and difficult to deal with Pokemon. Double Edge can OHKO Blissey and do monster damage to other special walls. Hidden Power Dark forces Gengar out and prevent such him from messing with Kingdra. Careful anticipation of switches is important in order to get the most from Kingdra.

Other Options

List some options for the Pokemon user that are plausible but not always recommended due to either being not consistent enough or too outclassed by other Pokemon in the metagame.
Checks and Counters
=============
Kingdra has only one type weakness, Dragon. This leaves it open to attack to Dragonite, and opposing Kingdra. Dragonite is easily dispatched with Ice Beam, but opposing Kingdra can provide a real headache if your Kingdra doesn't not have Dragon Breath. The battles between Kingdra are either annoying stalemates or quick deaths via whoever has Dragon Breath. Kingdra's largest check are walls. Blissey, Fortress, Miltank and Cloyster are all effective ways to check Kingdra. This is because while Kingdra has very balanced stats, it does not have anything that sticks out enough to wallbreak.
