[OVERVIEW]
Kingdra’s access to Swift Swim and generally solid stats make it a staple on rain teams. Under rain, Kingdra outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame, and even most Choice Scarf users. Kingdra’s secondary typing boasts multiple benefits, such as a neutrality to Grass- and Electric-type attacks, and a powerful STAB Draco Meteor that can 2HKO Water resists such as Suicune and Milotic. However, the presence of Water resists like Suicune, Milotic, and Gastrodon can cause issues, as Kingdra lacks a reliable way to bypass them without dropping its Special Attack. Kingdra is heavily reliant on rain to act as an offensive threat, as outside of rain, Kingdra is outclassed as an offensive Water-type by Pokemon like Starmie due to its balanced stats rendering it somewhat weak and slow without rain.
