Klefki @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SpD
Careful Nature
- Play Rough
- Foul Play
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
Klefki may not be taking on Xerneas anymore, but it is still a great Pokemon in NU, utilizing its great typing and support moves to assist its team! Foul Play lets Klefki punish physical attackers like Rhyperior and Flygon that may try to set up on it. Thunder Wave combined with Prankster punishes faster Pokemon like Munkidori and Cinccino before they are able to retaliate. 96 Defense EVs allow Klefki to survive an Earthquake from Flygon while at full HP; the rest of them are dumped into special bulk to enable it to take on special attackers like Kilowattrel and Munkidori better. Tera Grass lets Klefki resist Earthquake from the likes of Rhyperior and Flygon while also helping against Water-types like Barraskewda and Basculegion. Klefki fits on a variety of teams, ranging from offense to balance. Bulky Water-types like Vaporeon and Swampert pair well with it, as they can take on Fire-types like Chandelure and Incineroar that it struggles with. Spinblockers like Houndstone and Chandelure or Defog deterrents like Galarian Articuno and Kilowattrel are amazing for Klefki, as they can help keep its Spikes on the field by pressuring common entry hazard removal options like Tsareena and Altaria.
