Knock Your Sawks Off

Lairon (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 128 Def / 128 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Curse
- Sandstorm
- Head Smash

my custom lairon lead-so basicaly i wanted a completly bulky lead that could survive some hits and get up some curses and take out a poke or maybe do a little mini-sweep i really wanted a weather team and a friend of mine said that sandstorm is the best but i can't really see the point of it on this team. i used to have roar on him intead of head smash incase of a poke that it couldnt handle

Sawk (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

i picked sawk as random filer but it honestly worked well especially when something anoying poped up randomly sawk could just EQ 'em to death. so if you have any sugestions for a replacement then please have at it.

Electabuzz (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Vital Spirit
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
- Volt Switch

so i choose electabuzz for a special attacker mostly because i had an elekid
on my little cup sandstorm team and it worked really well and i just brought it up to NU and made it a electabuzz with basically the same moves/strategy

Rapidash (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Run Away
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge
- Low Kick
- Megahorn

same with rapidash as electabuzz i have a ponyta on my Little cup team and thought it would work well plus electabuzz needed an old friend. lolz

Golurk @ Life Orb
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Rock Polish
- Shadow Punch
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

rock polish golurk was recomended to me by my friend after a couple rock polishes a ironfist shadow paawnch will do some decant damage to pretty much anything that isnt a normal type. other than that he was also useful against EVERYTHING it was love at first Rock polish for this one.

Marowak (F) @ Thick Club
Trait: Battle Armor
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- ThunderPunch
- Swords Dance

as for marowak it is one of my favorite pokemon and i really was just looking for a team to put him in so when i figured out i was building a sandstorm team there was no way she wasnt going in it. but she kinda sucks :( sadly it gets owned on levels that i cant un-see around every turn samurott and seismitoad gRAPE my poor marowak in tha face

This is my first serious RMT i read the rule -n- stuff but i was still unsure of what the crap i was supposed to write for a description i really could not comprehend how to DESCRIBE a pokemon other than its stats item and moves but i will learn HOPEFULLY. :)

Hey,

You have a decent team but there are some things that need to be changed in order to make this team perform as well as it could. First off, I don't really see the point of using Sandstorm nor Curse on Lairon. Sandstorm is only good when it's a permament weather, as only 5 turn of Sandstorm isn't doing much for your team, as you seem to have noticed already. Curse isn't useful either because Lairon usually has better things to do, and it doesn't have a particularly easy time boosting because of its glaring weakness to common types like Water or Fighting. For this reason, I suggest using a Head Smash / Earthquake / Stealth Rock / Roar moveset on Lairon, as it allows Lairon to effectively support your team. I also suggest using Rock Head as its ability, as it lets Lairon to use Head Smash without worrying about the recoil, and Sturdy isn't necessary due to Lairon great bulk.

Another concern is the big weakness to Water type pokemon such as Gorebyss, Samurott and other offensive water-type pokemon in general like Ludicolo or Simipour, as your team has no Water resists while it has 4 pokemon weak to Water. A way of fixing this would be using Ludicolo instead of Marowak, which is the most replaceable member of your team. Ludicolo can still be an offensive threat and a sweeper of your team, just as Marowak was. Here's the set:

Ludicolo@Life Orb | Swift Swim
Timid Nature | 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Rain Dance / Giga Drain / Hydro Pump / Ice Beam

I agree with DestinyUnknown's suggestion of Ludicolo since it patches up your weakness to Water-types quite nicely. If you want to, Synthesis could be run over Rain Dance to give Ludicolo more longevity, which will be useful since it plays such a crucial role on your team.

Even with Ludicolo, you still have a huge weakness to Ground-types such as Choice Band Golurk or Torterra. Should they find a chance to come in safely, they can outright OHKO even member of your team except for Ludicolo, who takes 57.81% - 68.11% from the former and 52.82% - 62.46% from the latter. To fix this, I would suggest swapping out Electabuzz for Eelektross, which also provides great coverage while being able to dodge Ground-type attacks with Levitate.

Running Ice Punch over Stone Edge on Golurk gives you the exact same coverage on Flying-types but let you hit Ground-types for super effective damage, and has perfect accuracy to boot.

Rapidash should be running Morning Sun over Megahorn since Flare Blitz already hits Psychic and Grass types hard enough while Morning Sun would allow Rapidash to heal off Stealth Rock and recoil damage.

Lairon should be running a spread of 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def with an Adamant nature since this allows it to hit extremely hard with Head Smash while still being able to survive most physical attacks. DestinyUnknown's changes should also be taken into consideration.

Summary of changes:

[Optional] Rain Dance —> Synthesis on Ludicolo
Electabuzz —> Eelektross
Stone Edge —> Ice Punch on Golurk
Megahorn —> Morning Sun on Rapidash
Lairon —> Different spread and nature

Good luck with the team!

Ditto what DestinyUnknown already said. Sadly, Marowak just doesn't fit on this team, since Sandstorm is worth very little down in NU (plus it breaks Sawk's Sturdy). Marowak is usually used as an anti-lead on non-Trick Room/Baton Pass team, with it's extremely useful Bonemerang and Stealth Rock moves. Since you already have Lairon though, Marowak is not that useful (plus its moveset leaves a lot to be desired. It can't really set up both Sub and SD, and Thunderpunch is weaker than Stone Edge AND Double Edge). Ludicolo gives you an excellent answer to the ever threatening Gorebyss, so it is a good fit.

Before I say anything else, you do need a bit more in your descriptions. You can add things like (but not limited to):what kind of team is this, what each Pokemon's role is for, why you chose this Pokemon over another Pokemon, how does something work to benefit the entire team as a whole, how much testing you have done, what threatens your team, what playstyle do you prefer this team to be, etc. Trust me, most people can tell what moves and items you are using; it's the WHY that we need you to tell us.

Now, I don't understand what the EV spread on Lairon is supposed to do, since you need full investment to actually have a decent special defense after Eviolite. I would recommend the Bulky Offensive EV Spread for Lairon. I would also INSIST that you switch Rapidash's ability to Flash Fire. Of course, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that that was just an oversight rather than intentional. ;)

Now, right now I don't see what the main focus of your team is (I don't think it is Sawk, despite the title). I'll assume that you want to initiate a late game Golurk sweep (since otherwise RP Golurk is pretty underwhelming). That makes Absol and Skuntank Public Enemy #1 for you, since they easily stop Golurk with Sucker Punch (plus you have no priority on your team). Sawk becomes even more important for that reason, as it is your best chance to deal with them. Grass types like Torterra also are dangers since your best move to use on them is Shadow Punch (lol). I would change Stone Edge to Ice Punch for that reason alone, since Rapidash is a bit frail and thus not the most dependable option to deal with Grass types. Still, Rapidash can become more reliable if you change Megahorn to Morning Sun. It's not like Megahorn provides any important coverage (unless you REALLY want to OHKO Exeggutor without taking recoil). Morning Sun helps with all your recoil moves and keeps Rapidash alive long enough to keep the opponent's Grass type at bay.

After looking at the changes, I still see a bit of a Ground, Fighting and Psychic weakness. While there are a few decent options you can look at, I don't want to accidentally change the theme of your team until I know what the theme is. So for now, this is all I have to give you.

Changes:

Rapidash: Flash Fire>Run Away (lol)
Morning Sun>Megahorn
Lairon: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Def Adamant nature
Golurk: Ice Punch>Stone Edge

P.S.- Damn FLCL ninja'd me. Eelektross is a good idea over Buzz. Try Giga Drain over Grass Knot though, just for the recovery alone.

WhiteDMist is right; you should add more descriptions.

If you do want Sandstorm, you need at least one more inducer: switch Rock Polish for Sandstorm on Golurk.

Also, how about getting some other coverage? A Ludicolo set was already suggested, but you could use one of these two:

Seismitoad (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: any of the abilities it gets
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
Nature: Timid
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power Fire/Hidden Power Ice/Focus Blast/Hidden Power Flying

Serperior (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Leaf Blade
- Toxic/Coil/Aqua Tail (it's sad Serperior doesn't get Rock Slide)
