Knowledge's Power: An RU Hyper Offense Team

Introduction:
Honestly, I never really realized why people posted teams that peaked #1 on the ladder for help in RMT. Seriously dude, you already hit #1, you should be able to figure out what to do with the team. I think the teams in the RMT Forum should be the teams that hit between 1500 and 1600, but can't really go any higher because they need help. This is one of those teams.

The team at a glance:

Spr_5b_480.png
Spr_5b_475.png
Spr_5b_601.png
Spr_5b_106.png

The team in detail:

Crustle @ Custap Berry
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Spikes
- X-Scissor
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge

Crustle is my lead. It almost always gets up at least two layers of hazards, and sometimes can kill an Uxie or Aerodactyl if I stay at high HP. Once it dies, I generally switch ino Uxie so that the screens and hazards are ready for the sweepers. Crustle is actually the newest members of my team, because I just wasn't doing enough damage before it was on the team.

Uxie @ Light Clay
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Memento
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Psychic

Uxie gets the necessary screens and Memento support that my four sweepers need to set up. Uxie is bulky enough to take hits and setup the screens, then crippling something with Memento and giving a teammate a switch in. Psychic is so Uxie isn't taunt bait, but I've never had to use it so I am open to suggestions for that spot. It also created knowledge and this thread's title.

Gallade (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Psycho Cut
- Drain Punch

Gallade is Sweeper Numero Uno. I use him to sweep if the opponent has something that can stop Klinklang, such as Rotom, Magneton, and Ferroseed. Psycho Cut is because Zen Headbutt screws me over a lot and it doesn't get any kills that I've noticed that Psycho Cut doesn't. Shadow Sneak is for priority and can kill most frail things trying to stop the sweep. I use Drain Punch over Close Combat because the recovery can really help and it makes Gallade somewhat useful in Trick Room or when it is paralyzed.

Klinklang @ Life Orb
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Shift Gear
- Gear Grind
- Return
- Wild Charge

Klinklang is Sweeper Numero Dos and is great against teams without a wall or an electric type. It usually cleans up the team if Gallade dies before screens are up and its counters are gone, but is walled easily because of its subpar coverage. (Random side note: Klinklang should really get drill run because gears ≈ drills and it would make Klinklang awesome)

Hitmonlee (M) @ Normal Gem
Trait: Unburden
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Hi Jump Kick
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Hitmonlee is the Quicker Picker Upper. It can hit anything but Ghost types (which it's already screwed against) get a speed bonus, and kill anything left with its awesome attack stat and great coverage. I don't send out Hitmonlee until after screens wear out because it doesn't need them to get its boost.

Entei @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- ExtremeSpeed
- Flame Charge
- Flare Blitz
- Stone Edge

Entei is the weak link on this team, and is only in this spot as a burn absorber. I want to change Entei to something else that is more threatening, but still can take burns easily.

Threats:

Ghost-types, especially Rotom, resist most of the attacks on the team and usually have Will-o-Wisp to cripple almost everything

Steelix, although it can be weakened by each of the members of the team, usually walls something and kills it.

Conclusion:

Well, this is my team I made trying to test out Hyper Offense, and now I need you guys to help make it better. Give me ideas for anything, especially Entei's spot. Thanks!

Importable: (Almost forgot)

Uxie @ Light Clay
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Memento
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Psychic

Crustle @ Custap Berry
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Spikes
- X-Scissor
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge

Gallade (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Psycho Cut
- Drain Punch

Hitmonlee (M) @ Normal Gem
Trait: Unburden
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Hi Jump Kick
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Klinklang @ Life Orb
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Shift Gear
- Gear Grind
- Return
- Wild Charge

Entei @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- ExtremeSpeed
- Flame Charge
- Flare Blitz
- Stone Edge

Hiya Ghana,

I like heavy offensive teams because they are highly strategical and can easily overpower most teams. The team has the basic idea but it can be made more efficient!

First, starting with your lead. Crustle would like Rock Blast, rather than Stone Edge, because it gives you a better tool against Hail teams (Snover), Aerodactyl and Accelgor; which at the moment give you slight trouble if you let it. Changing the EV spread to 204 HP / 252 Atk / 52 Spe gives Crustle the Speed to outspeed standard Druddigon and still survive Cincinno's attacks.

Entei simply isn't pulling its weight with the current set. A heavy offensive team would like a wallbreaker so then a sweeper can finish the match, so keeping the burn immunity that you'd like, Magmortar is a good substitute. Magmortar places tremendous pressure on opposing defensive teams with its coverage and power, and behind a screen, it can hurt offensive teams too. With it, you can handle Smeargle leads a bit more easily thanks to Vital Spirit.

EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Fire Blast
-Focus Blast
-Thunderbolt
-HP Grass

HP Grass is an awesome attack to take out Quagsire which utterly walls Gallade.

Gallade appreciates the additional Speed from changing its EV spread to 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe. The base 80 Speed is too important of a benchmark to ignore, because the lack of max neutral Speed means outspeeding positive Crawdaunt, neutral Absol, and tying with Kabutops and Mesprit. Changing its item to Lum Berry is a better option due to the prevalence of status especially burns. It also allows Gallade to setup on defensive Pokemon without caring about paralysis, and screens help against offensive teams. As you mentioned, Ghost-types are troublesome especially Spiritomb and Rotom, so to catch them I suggest Night Slash to replace Shadow Sneak. I understand the lack of priority sucks but my final suggestion kinda covers that and Gallade is meant to be bust out early- to mid-game so it's not too bad.

Klinklang's EV spread should be changed to 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 Spe to outspeed Choice Scarf Manectric and strike a balance with bulk too; otherwise, common scarfers would outspeed such as Rotom-C and Rotom so you could at least hit them before going down.

Finally, Hitmonlee isn't helping your team to wiping the opponent out and its inability to take out Ghost-types it a bit disheartening. Also, with Magmortar weak to hazards I suggest Kabutops. Kabutops covers the priority with Aqua Jet and handles Ghost-types that try to spinblock with +2 Stone Edge. The speed from Weak Armor helps to wear the opponent down.

Hey, this is a pretty cool looking team, but I have some suggestions that I think could make it better.

Custap Crustle should be using a different spread, I would suggest using Yonko7's set, cause he just ninja'd me real hard.

On Uxie I would use U-turn over Psychic with a jolly nature, as this allows you to set up screens, u-turn to the appropriate mon, and come back in to set screens again later.

On to the actual offensive part of this hyper offense team, there are two major problems I see with your team. First of all, you have four physical attackers which is why your team struggles with Steelix, in fact, Steelix + Qwilfish beat this team by themselves. Secondly, if you are using custap Crustle you definitely need a spin blocker, as otherwise you just wasted a slot on your team vs. every team with a spinner.

Here are my suggestions to fix this. Change your Hitmonlee to the standard sub-split Rotom-N, as your team doesn't have the proper support for Hitmonlee to work (it needs pursuit trapping).

479.gif

Rotom @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
- Pain Split

This can spin block for your team which is a necessity.

I also agree with replacing Entei with the suggested set, with a few minor tweaks, allowing Magmortar to outspeed neutral base 80's while adding some bulk (an using it with e-belt), at base 83, there isn't anything else it can really outspeed with 252 EVs anyways.

467.gif

Magmortar @ Expert Belt
Trait: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 SAtk / 24 HP / 232 Spd
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]

I also second the EV spread for Klinklang, for the reasons listed by Yonko7. Klinklang should be sweeping, and therefore needs speed, not bulk, as Uxie gives Klinklang pseudo-bulk.

Good luck with the team, I hope some of my suggestions helped :).

Hey based on your import, you haven't fully EVed Magmortar (you have 20 left), so I would put 24 in HP (take 4 out of Def), as this gives you an odd HP number allowing you to switch into rocks 4 times without dying. I am also going to reiterate that you really should use a spin blocker as otherwise your hazards are probably going to go to waste, cool replay though :).

The reason I don't use a spinblocker is that if I am behind screens, it gives me a free chance to set up when they spin, and when I'm not behind screens, I usually have enough offensive pressure to make them attack instead of spin. And yeah I think I mistyped those EVs, fixed now.

Edit: Replay that shows why spins can be beneficial for me AND why Gallade isn't totally screwed over by paralysis: (This was when the ladder and replays were messed up so im putting the log)
