Smogon's mascot, Koffing, has been spreading noxious gas around the NFE battlefield! Poison-types are a rare commodity aside from Ivysaur, Mareanie and opposing Koffing, making Toxic Spikes unbearable for bulky teams since they primarily rely on Rapid Spin from Quaxwell for removal. Koffing's great typing and bulk with reliable recovery in Pain Split make it a great check against strong physically offensive attackers like Thwackey and Raboot. Thief is a great way to steal items after being knocked off by Tinkatuff, Ivysaur, and the aforementioned Thwackey. Will-O-Wisp sets strong breakers like Fraxure, Pawniard, and Pilowswine ablaze, rendering them useless. Koffing really struggles into special attackers like Girafarig and Sliggoo-Hisui, making Tinkatuff and Servine great teammates since they can take them on. Koffing can struggle into Ground-types like Gabite and Piloswine, so the likes of Quaxwell and Dunsparce are helpful to combat them.
