Introduction

Hey, some may know me under the username Izlymoney, I've been playing on Pokemon Showdown for 3 years by now and here I am writing my first RMT. I decided to write it including one of my favorites pokemons, Kommo-o. Before USM came out, it was clearly a garbage and underwhelming mon. Then, thanks to many buffs, namely move tutors and Kommonium Z, he rose recently to OU. I wanted to test the Dragon Dance set and how it would fare in the actuel meta. Without further ado, here is the team.

The Team

Au DD @ Kommonium Z
170389

Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Clanging Scales
- Close Combat

- Poison Jab

EVs are self-explanatory for an offensive physical set. Bulletproof is a pretty niche ability allowing Kommo-o to switch into Ferrothorn's Gyro Ball, Blacephalon's Shadow Ball, or Venusaur and Amoonguss's Sludge Bomb, giving it a safer opportunity to set up against these Pokemon. Dragon Dance helps in improving its meddling attack and speed stats after a Clangorous Soulblaze, turning him into a powerhouse. Setting up Dragon Dance is easier after the use of the Z-move, as it is more bulky, especially if Kommo-o is behind an aurora veil. Poison Jab is essential to get rid of Fairies, especially Tapus.

Ien-cli @ Focus Sash
170390

Ability: Weak Armor
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Surf
- Shell Smash

This little guy is pretty underrated in the OU metagame. This set seems rather strange, but it is quite effective. This suicide lead wins his duels against Excadrill, Landorus-T, Diancie and is able to weaken the opposing team while setting at least the SR. SR + Spikes will ease Kommo-o task, weakening his checks. However, it gets shutdown by Taunt users such as Tapu Fini.

serperior.gif

Serperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Substitute
- Glare

- Leech Seed

This nice snake is there to circumvent the issue of Tapu Fini which is otherwise a threat to the team, but also to punish Defog users who would try to get rid of Omastar's hazards. The combination of +1 Evasion boost, Glare, SubSeed allows Serperior, IF bulky grass mons such as Venusaur or Ferrothorn were taken out (thanks to Zygarde ban, Tangrowth is less present) to severly weaken the opponent's team and even winning games.

Cafard des caves @ Choice Band
170392

Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Crabhammer
- Crunch
- Knock Off

- Aqua Jet

Crawdaunt is here to plainly break walls, easing the road for Kommo-o. Slower walls such as Clefable and Toxapex are threatened by its stupid wallbreaking power. Aqua Jet is a strong priority allowing to pick up KO on offensive pokemons and to not be much of a deadweight against Hyper Offense. It shines best against Balance, Trick Room, Stall and Semi-Stall. Moreover, in coordination with Ninetales's Safeguard, Crawdaunt can single-handle the Stall Matchup.

ninetales-alola.gif

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 192 HP / 64 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Safeguard
- Freeze-Dry
- Icy Wind

Alolan-Ninetales is well-known in the OU metagame for its screens support and helping his teammates to take hits. Aurora Veil helps the team especially for Kommo-o, which gets even bulkier and harder to revenge kill after a Clangorous SoulBlaze. Also for Serperior, which makes its Substitutes more resistants and Celesteela. Safeguard is there to prevent status to Crawdaunt and Kommo-o as both gets severly crippled by those. Icy Wind is an interesting option when Ninetales is about to get KOed in order to safely bring Crawdaunt on mons sitting under the 90 speed tiers.

celesteela.gif

Celesteela @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Autotomize
- Earthquake
- Acrobatics
- Heavy Slam

I needed an offensive steel type who could take advantage of Fairy-types and of Aurora Veil. Celesteela is able to activate the Weakness Policy thanks to its natural bulk, even better behind the veil. Heavy Slam is the move of choice for sweeping, hitting most of the time 120 BP. However, as fun as it can be to sweep with this mon, I feel like it is the weakest link of the team.

Conclusion

In order to be effective with this team, prediction is required. Avoid using Clangorous Soulblaze if the opponent still has a Fairy-type that can switch in or a Pokemon that can be sacrificed to entry hazards, as this will waste Kommo-o's Z-Crystal and prevent its boosts.
The biggest threat so far is Tapu Koko : with the myriad of set it can run, my team cannot effectively check it.
I am open to all kinds of suggestions towards the team, everything bar removing Kommo-o :]
