Choice Specs Kommo-o is a great wallbreaker for Dragon teams thanks to its incredible STAB combination, respectable Special Attack stat, and good STAB options. Aura Sphere is Kommo-o's Fighting-type STAB option on this set, hitting Steel-, Ice-, and Normal-types like Heatran, Archaludon, Alolan Sandslash, and Ursaluna-B that otherwise trouble Dragon teams. Clanging Scales punishes Fighting-immune foes, like Spectrier and Dragapult, that attempt to predict an Aura Sphere from Kommo-o. Vacuum Wave lets Kommo-o pick off massive threats to Dragon teams like Choice Band Chien-Pao, Choice Band Excadrill, and Kingambit. Flamethrower allows Kommo-o to threaten Gholdengo, which can otherwise wall it, very hard, while Flash Cannon provides coverage against miscellaneous Fairy-types like Clefable and Hatterene. Soundproof is the chosen ability in order to help against opposing Kommo-o as well as against Psychic Noise users like Hoopa-U.
Both Archaludon and Hisuian Goodra help with Kommo-o's debilitating Fairy weakness by dealing with physical and special attackers respectively: Archaludon deals with threats like Azumarill that can use Kommo-o as a setup opportunity, while Hisuian Goodra can sponge attacks from the likes of Choice Scarf Flutter Mane, Choice Specs Iron Valiant, and Primarina. Archaludon also provides Stealth Rock support, a welcome tool to help Kommo-o break through and revenge kill foes. Both can handle opposing Dragon-types on their respective sides as well; Archaludon can cover against Dragon Dance Dragapult, while Hisuian Goodra can handle Latios. Choice Scarf Roaring Moon appreciates Kommo-o's ability to threaten Steel-types that can take it on like Skarmory, and in return it provides speed control and acts as a check to Psychic-types like Choice Scarf Hoopa-U and Galarian Slowking. Dragon Dance Dragapult can hit Ghost-types like Choice Specs Flutter Mane while appreciating Kommo-o's Dark resistance and ability to take on Kingambit. Gouging Fire can also take on miscellaneous Fairy-types, although to a lesser extent than the other two, and it can also set up and potentially sweep weakened teams once its answers, like Air Balloon Heatran, are taken out by Kommo-o. Both Latios and Latias are great teammates for Kommo-o, as they provide welcome speed control as well as help in the Psychic and Fighting matchups, two major struggles for Kommo-o. Latias also provides very helpful utility in the form of Healing Wish and Trick to render checks like Galarian Slowking much less potent.
