Hi, I'm Kryuell. A lot of you may know me for my Absol sets, but now I've been focusing on my OU competetive battling. Until I can afford to buy a new nintendo DS, i'm sticking with NB at the moment. I just want to know if this team is OK before going back to Wi-Fi.
All improvements and suggestions/ratings are welcome.
The Lead
Testify
Mamoswine (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Snow Cloak
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Endeavor
- Ice Shard
- Stealth Rock
With focus sash and endevour/ice shard at his disposal, mamoswine makes a great lead. As far as I'm aware, Jirachi is the only main pokemon that gives me trouble (iron head with 60% flinch rate) but I can easily switch to Flygon so ScarfTrick Jirachi is rendered useless. Stealth Rock is a must have for any lead, and unlike every other lead in OU, Mamoswine boasts an immunity to both sandstorm and hail, so Focus Sash works amazingly well.
The Cleric/Sleep inducer
Kirby
Jumpluff (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 104 HP / 152 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Aromatherapy
- Leech Seed
- Seed Bomb
- Sleep Powder
Jumpluff is one of the fastest sleep inducers, and unlike Crobat and Gengar he gets a nice 75% accurate sleep powder. Aromatherapy is good for healing Raikou (His CM/Sub strategy fails when poisoned or burned) and for healing Scizor from burns. Chlorophyll allows Jumpluff 700 speed when it is sunny, although that rarely happens. But thanks to aromatherapy leaf guard is kind of redundant. I chose the physical Seed Bomb because of things like CM Suicune. I used to run Encore for various reasons and have considered using Encore again. Leech Seed is a must have, especially for Blissey and to stop stallers in thier tracks. Also, leech seed and sleep powder cause many switches, so its nice to have the stealth rocks up.
The Status Absorber/Dragon killer
Mistique
Milotic (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 HP / 116 Def / 140 SAtk
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Rest
- Surf
- Toxic
Special defense is Milotic's best stat, so why compramise it with a bold nature when I can save a few precious EVs? Marvel Scale is great with rest. Ice Beam and Surf are simply for coverage and scaring Dragons away. Toxic is great for Vaporeon and Gyarados, whom Milotic can't harm much without HP Electric. (I didn't run HP electric because Vaporeon could still screw me over with wish, and I needed a move to scare Celebi away) I maxed out HP for great lefties recovery and resistance to Seismic Toss.
Special Sweeper/Staller
Cannon
Raikou @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
Thunderbolt for STAB, HP Grass for Swampert and Hippowdon/Tyranitar, and the classic Sub/CM combo. Even with 0.5, Raikou can easily stall most celebi (barring the physical Celebi which is incredibly rare in DP) Substitute is great for stopping pokemon like Breloom and Dusknoir from crippling Raikou. Raikou can even stall Blissey that don't run Seismic Toss.
The Physical Attacker
Blade
Scizor (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 76 Def / 20 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Swords Dance
Instead of running LO or CB, I wanted a Scizor that could set up, and last long on the field. Pursuit is great for trapping pokemon that try escape the sweeping prowess of Scizor. Bullet Punch makes him one of the best Weaville counters in the game, and Superpower even allows me to beat Skarmory after a bit of setting up, and with prediction I can Superpower those Magnezones and Heatrans that otherwise make Scizor wet himself. This set should be self explanatory. I did use Quick Attack at one point for countering those Infernape and Magmortar that try to counter me, but I swapped it for Pursuit after I started using Milotic, and after seeing Infernape and Magmortar becoming a lot less common.
The Revenge Killer/Scouter
Jet
Flygon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 52 Atk / 252 Spd / 204 SAtk
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- U-turn
Unlike Salamence, Flygon boasts a resistance to sandstorm, rock and elecrtic attacks (including Thunder Wave which really messes up Mence) and Flygon's unique access to U-Turn that no other Dragon can use. U-Turn allows me to scout, and dent celebi nicely. Draco Meteor is preffered thanks to its massive base power and isnt affected by Sala's intimidate. Fire Blast is for Scizor, Foretress and freinds, whereas Earthquake delivers a deadly STAB option for Tyranitar and those speedy electrics. Electivire that gain motor drive boost from Raikou are countered easily, thanks to Flygon's immunity to Earthquake and higher speed than 'Vire.
As you may have noticed, my team can use some improvement. I've considered getting rid of Jumpluff entirely, and I've also considered U-Turn on Scizor for a double U-Turn with Flygon. Or even giving Scizor Knock Off so pokemon like Skarmory and Gliscor can't Lefties my ass off.
Either way all suggestions are welcome. I havn't bothered putting in a threat list for now, but if anyone is unsure on how I deal with certain pokemon then just ask.
