Kyurem Strikes v1.1

When I originally created this team, I wanted a team using Kyurem, who is severely underestimated in the current metagame due to its admittingly crippling weaknesses.

With Kyurem, it is usually considered a good idea to bring some Hail along, so Abomasnow became virtually obligatory.

I wanted a rapid spinner, as both of my ice types are annihilated by hazards. Forretress fits into this role neatly and also lays hazards, which helps keeps momentum on my side.

I now needed someone which could resist the hordes of mach punch and bullet punch that would surely be thrown at my team in its current state. Jellicent fits this role nicely and also covers up my fire weakness. Not only that, but Jelly can anti-rapid spin as well. Perfect case of a do everything you need pokemon.

I now wanted something that could punch holes in the enemy team, especially late in the game when they were worn down by the hazards and constant spam of blizzards. Terrakion's Choice Band set fits this nicely, with its ability to 2HKO even the mighty skarmory.

Lastly, I wanted a rock layer which could also severely hurt the enemy team. I also wanted him to do decently against Ttar leads. Mamoswine fit the bill excellently when equipped with a focus sash.

However, Kyurem-B became unbanned, which eventually made me revisit this team and modify the Kyurem set into one Kyurem-B could use, as he is superior in all stats but special attack. Thus Kyurem-B was slotted in over Kyurem in all his fist-pounding glory.

Abomasnow @ Choice Scarf
460.gif

Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 12 Atk / 252 SAtk / 244 Spd
Hasty Nature
- Blizzard
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Earthquake

Abomasnow lays down hail support, which is pretty useful for Kyurem when it comes time for him to move in. I slapped a Choice scarf on him to give him an offensive presence and allow him to serve as a secondary lead against non-weather teams.

Kyurem-Black @ Leftovers
646b.gif

Trait: Teravolt
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 52 HP / 124 SAtk / 236 Spd / 96 Atk
Lonely Nature
- Fusion Bolt
- Blizzard
- Substitute
- Roost

When Kyurem-B was unbanned it became extremely hard to justify using Kyurem. Kyurem-Bs superior bulk and ability to do an impressively strong mixxed BoltBeam made his appeal hard to ignore. A Lonely nature is chosen as to not weaken either Fusion Bolt or Blizzard while also forcing Genesect's Download to boost his much less useful attack. The Attack and SpAttack EVs are a tad random but I wanted each attack to hit moderately hard while making sure attack was at a +2 attack EV number. The speed is the very same recommended in Kyurem's SubRoost set to outspeed Adamant Lucario and Jolly Mamoswine while the HP allows him to put up 101 HP substitutes.

Terrakion @ Choice Band
639.gif

Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Spd / 4 HP / 252 Atk
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- X-Scissor
- Sacred Sword

Choice Band Terrakion is a freaking nuke. His CC is horrible to have to switch into without immunity or resistance, he can cleanly 2HKO even the bulkiest Hippowdon and Skarmory. Stone Edge handles most things that do resist CC while X-scissor provides some coverage. Sacred Sword has some use against a defense booster, as it bypasses stat changes.

Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
473.gif

Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Endeavor
- Stealth Rock

Mamoswine is a pretty reliable lead. While I certainly appreciate stealth rock, I do not find it extremely critical due do the spam of blizzards that will handle most flying types. If he is up against something threatening enough I have no problems with simply sacrificing Mamoswine to kill them.

Forretress @ Leftovers
205.gif

Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SDef
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Volt Switch
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin

Forretress is an excellent rapid spinner and does a good job setting up hazards as well. Volt Switch was chosen to give me the option to send Forretress dry out the first time in order to lure his counter in. It also keeps SubBeam Magnezone from ruining my day.

Jellicent @ Leftovers
593.gif

Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Def / 220 SDef
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Blizzard
- Toxic
- Recover

Jellicent is a lynchpin on this team, covering many of ice types weaknesses and giving me a defensive pivot. I opted for Blizzard over shadow ball because of the hail, which makes it the superior option due to its killing off of grass types. Scald allows it to spread some utility burn and toxic prevents it from getting counter-stalled very easily.

Defunct Sets:
Kyurem @ Leftovers
646.gif

Trait: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 52 HP / 220 SAtk / 236 Spd
Modest Nature
- Blizzard
- Earth Power
- Substitute
- Roost

SubRoost Kyurem often comes as a surprise to many enemies, who expect a more offensive variant to be used. Kyurem's Blizzard is a sight to behold, OHKOing anything that is weak to it, and 2HKOing most things that don't resist it not named Chansey or Blissey. Kyurem's bulk is not to be underestimated either, if stealth rock is off the field Genesect cannot 2HKO with a +1 flamethrower. Earth Power allows Kyurem to hit Steel types that are grounded respectably hard.

Thanks for taking the time to read my team, let me know what you think!

Breloom at +2 sweeps your entire team save fortress which is a 2HKO. A latias can kill it with HP fire or psyshock I suppose? I suck at this. Going back to lurking.

Just a tiny note. I don't see gyro ball so i see no reason why the speed IVs and nature. is there something i'm not seeing?

This is a bit of a necro, but the unbanning of Kyurem-B gave this team a new toy that made it hard for me not to revisit it. Kyurem replaced by Kyurem-B. Constructive criticism is requested.
