Able to harness the powers of fire and ice, Kyurem-W stands tall as one of the heaviest hitters in the current VGC metagame. Blizzard and Draco Meteor are Kyurem-W's strongest STAB moves, which take advantage of its monstrous base 170 Special Attack stat. Blizzard easily takes down the likes of Rillaboom and Landorus-T, and Max Hailstorm breezes past Groudon. Freeze-Dry makes Kyogre and Tapu Fini much more manageable for Kyurem-W, but it comes at the cost of lessened damage output. With either option, Venusaur massively struggles to impact Kyurem-W, and as such, teams centered around it struggle. Draco Meteor blasts the other Dragon-types in the metagame such as Dragapult, Palkia, and Eternatus. Max Wyrmwind tempers the Attack of the metagame's physical attackers, such as Calyrex-I. Earth Power provides Kyurem-W with crucial coverage to power through the likes of Incineroar and Zacian-C, the latter of which is capable of shrugging off its other attacks. Due to its less-than-stellar base 95 Speed stat, Kyurem-W absolutely loves Tailwind and Fake Tears support from Whimsicott, letting it outspeed every Pokemon in the metagame and easily knock them out. It also has problems dealing with the ubiquitous Zacian-C, and as such, Incineroar and Landorus-T prove to be great partners for the giant dragon.
