Welcome everyone to the debut of a new project in this community: the Random Battles Ladder Achievements Project!
As we all know, grinding for hours and hours on ladders is one of the favorite activities of the people in this community and it's finally time to have a dedicated project that hopes to create something cool and fun for everyone involved.
Introduction to cycle 2
Last month saw the debut of the LAP and there were a lot of things to reflect on for the long term success of the project. For the upcoming cycle, there aren't going to be real changes in the structure but from now on, the goal is to create challenges that are more "tailor-made" for the current Spotlight format. Since this is the first ever Gen 5 Spotlight, you can expect that we'll find a way to involve something like gems, items, abilities, mechanics and pokemon first introduced in this gen for our challenges. Pokebilities is obviously the distinctive trait of this format, so you already know that abilities will play a big role in each of the three weeks of the LAP.
And now, without further ado, let's take a look at what week 1 has in store for the players!
Climber: Reach 1st place on the Gen 5 Pokebilities ladder
Specifics: There are no specifics for this challenge

Climber: Reach 1st place on the Gen 5 Pokebilities ladder
Specifics: There are no specifics for this challenge
Win Streak: Win at least 15 matches in a row with a fresh account
Specifics: "Fresh account" means we'll only consider the results coming from profiles registered on October 6th or beyond
You are allowed to clear your w-l record of your account and try again until you clear the challenge. Just use a "fresh" account

Elemental Chain: Win 1 match where you click a water, fire and grass attack, in that order
Minimum elo of your opponent: 1200
- You don't have to click these moves consecutively
- You do have to respect the given order though
- Only your pokemon count for this challenge
- Only attacking moves count, not status moves
- To make this challenge valid, the moves need to connect and deal damage to the opponent's pokemon

Seesaw: Win 1 match where you witness a Moody pokemon get an increase and a decrease in 3 different stats each
Minimum elo of your opponent: 1150
- Both your pokemon and the ones of the opponent count for this challenge
- The same stat can count if it's decreased and increased in the same match
- The same stat can count if it's decreased and increased in the same match
Item Master: Win 3 matches where each item of your six pokemon has a tangible effect in the game
Minimum elo of your opponent: 1150
- For Choice Specs and Band, we consider as a tangible effect the increased damage dealt by the pokemon
- For Choice Scarf, you need to outspeed a pokemon you would normally not outspeed
- As a general guideline, consumable items need to be consumed (berries, gems, air balloon, white herb etc.)
- Items that help you recover health (leftovers, black sludge) need to show this effect
- If you acquire an item via Trick/Switcheroo, that new item is accepted but it still needs to show its effect
- If your item gets Knocked Off or consumed by the opponent in another way, that will invalidate your attempt, unless you manage to acquire another item with that pokemon

Move Absorber: Win 3 matches where you witness 3 instances of a move getting "absorbed" by a non primary ability
Minimum elo of your opponent: 1150
- Both your pokemon and the ones of the opponent are acceptable to clear this challenge
- The target abilities for this challenge should be: Flash Fire, Volt Absorb, Motor Drive, Lightning Rod, Sap Sipper, Water Absorb, Storm Drain
- With "non primary ability", we mean one of the abilities that the pokemon normally doesn't have in randbats but that gains thanks to pokebilities (e.g. Flash Fire Chandelure, Sap Sipper Azumarill, Water Absorb Quagsire)
- Some pokemon have a "move absorbing" ability but only on one of their sets, like Flash Fire Chandelure. For this challenge, we will only consider the move absorbing abilities that do not appear on the set you have rolled in the match. Please do !showteam at the end of the match to show that the move absorbing ability didn't appear on the set generated in that battle

Nothing to Hide: Win 1 match after you reveal your whole team in the first 10 turns
Minimum elo of your opponent: 1200
- You don't necessarily have to switch every turn, you just need to show your whole team within 10 turns
- You must not do !showteam at the start of the match. The challenge is more about switching your pokemon in and out

Minimum elo of your opponent: 1150
- Only your pokemon count for the challenge
- The Quiver Dance pokemon needs to be sent out
- The Quiver Dance pokemon needs to be sent out
Race to the top!: Create a LAP account and climb the ladder
Specifics:
You need to create a new account for this Side Quest, whose name necessarily needs to start with "LAP".
You may create as many LAP accounts as you like. We'll only consider the one who has reached the highest elo
Send a screenshot to show your peak in this thread. You can update the post for every new peak you reach
The deadline for the Side Quest is set on Sunday 26th at 11:59 pm GMT +1 (midnight UK time)
General Rules
Here are some general guidelines we have reprised from other LAPs and adapted to the current project:
- All battles must take place on the Spotlight Ladder on Pokemon Showdown.
- Please give proof that you completed the challenge to validate your achievement. Our preferred way to do so is by sending replays in the dedicated thread. This is particularly true for the Fun Challenges, while screenshots are normally better to show you have cleared the Standard Challenges. In any case, hosts will specify how to submit the results in case of very unique challenges.
- You can get several achievements from the same battle/account, unless explicitly stated otherwise. I'll like your post once I've taken it into account.
- Achievements can be submitted in PM to me if you want the account you used to remain inconspicuous; I will be posting them in the thread (giving your Smogon username) myself. Please only do it as little as possible though; it's less fun.
- Past performances will not be counted; any submission needs to be verifiable on the server (by checking at the rank, WL, and such) at the moment they are posted. I.e. if the LAP starts on October 6th, you can't send a screenshot of you topping the ladder on October 1st to claim one of the Standard Challenges.
- You are obviously allowed to update your posts to showcase you have improved your records on the ladder (this is especially important for the Standard Challenges but it could also involve other challenges) as long as you do so before the deadline.
- Naturally, don't try to cheat, for instance by submitting an achievement with an account that's not yours and yours alone. In addition to that, don't mass forfeit games on the ladder just to speed up the process of obtaining the achievements. If caught doing so, you might get exposed and made fun of (but also infracted of course).
- Achievement levels may be subject to change at host's discretion.
The Prizes

Deadlines
No deadline this week for the Standard Challenges, since it's just the first week of the LAP

The Side Quest will officially close on Sunday 26th at 11:59 pm GMT +1 (midnight UK time)
