Welcome everyone to the debut of a new project in this community: the Random Battles Ladder Achievements Project!
As we all know, grinding for hours and hours on ladders is one of the favorite activities of the people in this community and it's finally time to have a dedicated project that hopes to create something cool and fun for everyone involved.

Big changes in the structure

I have decided to make some big changes to the structure of the LAP in order to address problems both me and the players have noticed in the first two cycles. These changes are not necessarily going to be definitive but this cycle is to be viewed as an experiment with the purpose of creating a better event with an increased playerbase

1) Start of the LAP > the first two LAPs started halfway through the cycle of the Spotlights to announce and advertise the project in advance and give myself more time to think about the challenges. However, instead of keeping the ladder alive, the project started with an already limited playerbase since most people had already left the ladder. Now the aim is to exploit the novelty of the Spotlight ladder to make it more relevant and drag players into the competition

2) Duration of the LAP > another problem I have detected is that three weeks of challenges can be overwhelming for the players, especially if the ladder is quite inactive. That's why I have decided to remove the third week of Fun Challenges, while Standard Challenges will actually go on for the usual three weeks

3) Removal of the Side Quests > due to their unique nature, it's not easy to come up with 3 different Side Quests challenges every cycle. Most importantly, the lack of "real" rewards that are truly different from the ones the other two challenges give, makes them a bit unappealing. Hopefully they can return when we finally implement the trainer profile system in the randbats room, but for now, they are going on a hiatus

And now, without further ado, let's take a look at what week 2 has in store for the players!

Climber: Reach 1st place on the Force of the Fallen Roulette ladder

Specifics: There are no specifics for this challenge

Win Streak: Win at least 15 matches in a row with a fresh account

Specifics: "Fresh account" means we'll only consider the results coming from profiles registered on November 17th or beyond
You are allowed to clear your w-l record of your account and try again until you clear the challenge. Just use a "fresh" account

Mark of Mastery: Reach at least 1510 elo on the Force of the Fallen Roulette ladder

Specifics: There are no specifics for this challenge

Old but Gold: Win at least 1 match with a different Gen 1 pokemon in every generation

Minimum elo of your opponent: 1100
- Only your Gen 1 pokemon count for this challenge, not those of the opponent
- Your Gen 1 pokemon need to touch the field for this challenge to count
- Winning multiple matches with the same Gen 1 pokemon doesn't count for the challenge
- A Gen 1 pokemon that has a Mega Evolution does count for the challenge
- The regional form of a Gen 1 pokemon does NOT count

Inheritance: Win a match where you use all the 5 inherited moves

Minimum elo of your opponent: 1150
- It's better to do !showteam at the end of the match to see that the moves were indeed inherited
- For this challenge to be valid, the inherited moves must be used by the pokemon that didn't have them originally
- The pokemon that have moves then inherited by the teammates can still use them but they will obviously not count for the challenge
- If the same move gets inherited twice, that will NOT count for the challenge
- Max and Z moves are compatible with this challenge, as long as you can prove that they come from inherited moves
- The inherited moves can fail, the important thing is that you click them and a message is displayed on screen and in battle chat

Additive Power: Get at least 3 kills in each of Gen 6-7, Gen 8 and Gen 9 thanks to an inherited move "interacting" with a unique mechanic of those generations

Minimum elo of your opponent: 1100
- You don't have to win games to clear this challenge
We are grouping together Gen 6 and 7 for this challenge as if they were a single generation
- For Gen 6 or 7, you need to get 3 kills with Mega Evolved pokemon using inherited moves
- For Gen 8, you need to get 3 kills with an inherited move used by a dynamaxing pokemon
- For Gen 9, you need to 3 kills with an inherited move used by a pokemon that has terastalized
- For each of these generations, indirect kills count but only the ones via hazards and status moves, not the ones via recoil
- For each of these generations, you may clear the challenge by using multiple pokemon across multiple games
- For each of these generations, you may use more than one inherited move to score a ko
- In Gen 6 and 7, the pokemon need to be Mega Evolved when they get the kill(s)
- In Gen 9, the pokemon need to be terastalized when they get the kill(s)
- We advise to do !showteam at the end of the matches to prove you have indeed inherited a certain move
- Inherited moves that the pokemon already have do not count for this challenge

Preview of the Fallen: Win a match after doing !showteam on Turn 1

Minimum elo of your opponent: 1250
- Wins via forfeit do count, as long as they happen after the 10th turn
- If the opponent doesn't react to your !showteam, that's totally fine
- You need to do !showteam before picking any moves

Counter-Nature: Get 3 kills with an inherited move of the category opposite to the attacking moves of your pokemon

Minimum elo of your opponent: 1150
- For "category", we mean "physical" or "special" attacking moves
- The three kills need to be scored by the same pokemon
- Only pokemon with an entirely special or physical movepool are eligible for the challenge. For instance, if you roll Pokemon like Gen 1 Krabby, Gen 2 Murkrow, Gen 3 Murkrow, Gen 4 Electivire or Magmortar etc. with an original moveset that is mixed, they are not acceptable, no matter what they inherit. However, if you get a Gen 8 Kabutops that inherits Hydro Pump, that's eligible for the challenge
- Max moves and Z moves are compatible with the challenge
- As always, we advise to do !showteam at the end of the game to prove you have inherited that move

Life Flow: Win matches where at least 10 water type pokemon of your team faint and pass on a water move to their teammates

Minimum elo of your opponent: 1100
- Every gen is compatible with this achievement
- Status and attacking water type moves are both acceptable to be inherited
- It's also acceptable to have a water type pass a water move to yet another water type
- It's acceptable if the water move is passed to a pokemon that already gets that move
- You can multiple cases of inheriting a water move from a water type in the same game
- Pokemon that terastalize into a water type do not count for this challenge

General Rules

Here are some general guidelines we have reprised from other LAPs and adapted to the current project:

  1. All battles must take place on the Spotlight Ladder on Pokemon Showdown.
  2. Please give proof that you completed the challenge to validate your achievement. Our preferred way to do so is by sending replays in the dedicated thread. This is particularly true for the Fun Challenges, while screenshots are normally better to show you have cleared the Standard Challenges. In any case, hosts will specify how to submit the results in case of very unique challenges.
  3. You can get several achievements from the same battle/account, unless explicitly stated otherwise. I'll like your post once I've taken it into account.
  4. Achievements can be submitted in PM to me if you want the account you used to remain inconspicuous; I will be posting them in the thread (giving your Smogon username) myself. Please only do it as little as possible though; it's less fun.
  5. Past performances will not be counted; any submission needs to be verifiable on the server (by checking at the rank, WL, and such) at the moment they are posted. I.e. if the LAP starts on August 4th, you can't send a screenshot of you topping the ladder on August 1st to claim one of the Standard Challenges.
  6. You are obviously allowed to update your posts to showcase you have improved your records on the ladder (this is especially important for the Standard Challenges but it could also involve other challenges) as long as you do so before the deadline.
  7. Naturally, don't try to cheat, for instance by submitting an achievement with an account that's not yours and yours alone. In addition to that, don't mass forfeit games on the ladder just to speed up the process of obtaining the achievements. If caught doing so, you might get exposed and made fun of (but also infracted of course).
  8. Achievement levels may be subject to change at host's discretion.

The Prizes
:serperior: Standard Challenges: The person with the most Standard Challenges won is going to get room prize winner in the Random Battles room for one month. In case of tie, that reward will go to the person who has registered the highest peak elo.

:arbok: Fun Challenges: Everyone who clears all the Fun Challenges of a specific week will gain 3 tokens to be used to start a tournament in the Random Battles room. If no one clears all the challenges, we'll give 2 tokens to the person(s) who have gotten the most achievements.

Deadlines

The deadline for the Standard Challenges is set on 11:59 pm GMT 0 of December 14th
The deadline for the Fun Challenges is set on the midnight of Sunday 30th, according to your timezone. If you get an achievement when it's still Sunday for you but Monday for the hosts, just send us a screenshot to prove the validity of the result

Doesn't really make sense that counter nature only works from gen 4... There's the physical special split there but moves still were physical/special, you can inherit blizzard on Pidgey, surely that counts

Uhm, I guess I can apply it to old gens as well, then. There were a bunch of mixed movepools anyway so it shouldn't be too easy to clear the challenge in those gens

In this post you can see all the challenges of the week and the people who have successfully cleared them. For every achievement, the names of the players are listed according to the chronological order of when they have provided evidence of reaching a specific goal.

Note: since the Standard Achievements last for three weeks, every week we'll report all the new entries but also those who already claimed the achievements in the previous week(s)
