[OVERVIEW]

Access to Intimidate and a strong Ground / Flying typing as well as a high base 145 Attack stat have made Landorus-T one of the strongest Pokemon in the format. A metagame dominated by Steel-types, such as Dialga and Zacian-C, allows it to shine even further due to the offensive pressure it puts on them. Because of this, Landorus-T also makes for an excellent Dynamax user, dishing out powerful Max Moves such as Max Airstream and Max Quake. Intimidate is a vital tool in this Dynamax format, as it allows the team to mitigate damage from strong physical threats such as Rillaboom and Kartana. However, Landorus-T packs a few significant downsides, including a 4x weakness to Ice, so it falls very quickly to Calyrex-I and Glastrier, as well as almost anything that carries Ice-type coverage. It is also very common for teams to include Pokemon with abilities such as Defiant and Competitive, such as Thundurus and Milotic, in order to punish Landorus-T for switching in.

[SET]
name: Swords Dance
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Rock Slide / Fly
move 3: Swords Dance
move 4: Protect / Fly
item: Lum Berry / Life Orb
ability: Intimidate
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Earthquake allows Landorus-T to hit all of the popular Steel-type restricted Pokemon like Dialga and Zacian-C for super effective damage. Max Quake is also an extremely powerful Max Move, allowing Landorus-T to boost its Special Defense while dishing out massive single target damage.

* Rock Slide is a great spread move that gives Landorus-T a better matchup against Flying-types such as Yveltal and Zapdos while also allowing it to use Max Rockfall to change the weather in the face of Kyogre and Groudon. Fly, on the other hand, is mostly used for a powerful Max Airstream, which lets Landorus-T boost its Speed while doing big damage to Grass-types like Amoonguss and Rillaboom.

* Swords Dance allows Landorus-T to stand up better against Dynamaxed threats such as Dialga. +2 Max Quake can even OHKO it before it gets any defensive boosts from its own Max Moves.

* Lum Berry is the preferred item due to the prevalence of Will-O-Wisp and Amoonguss's Spore in the metagame. This allows Landorus-T to switch into any status move and shrug it off for free. Life Orb allows Landorus-T to dish out increased damage but leaves it as a prime target for Will-O-Wisp and sleep moves.

[SET]
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Fly / Superpower
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Rock Slide
item: Assault Vest
ability: Intimidate
nature: Adamant
evs: 212 HP / 116 Atk / 36 Def / 76 SpD / 68 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Earthquake allows Landorus-T to deal big damage to many of the most common Pokemon in the metagame such as Incineroar and OHKO Regieleki.

* Fly is mainly used when Landorus-T is Dynamaxed, as it allows it to fire off super strong STAB Max Airstreams. At +1 Speed, it can outspeed Thundurus, Kartana, Urshifu-S, and Urshifu-R. Fly can also be useful in some late-game situations outside of Dynamax when it can be used to force opposing Max Moves to miss while it is in the air. Superpower is sometimes an option when the team lacks a consistent means of hitting Kartana and Ferrothorn for super effective damage. Max Knuckle can also be nice for boosting Landorus-T's Attack stat.

* U-turn maximizes Landorus-T's pivoting potential by allowing it to Intimidate opposing Pokemon and then switch out into one of its teammates.

* This set leans into Landorus-T's defensive capabilities and allows it to act more as a pivot while still serving as a strong offensive option while Dynamaxed. The EV spread allows it to survive a variety of super effective moves while Dynamaxed, including -1 Attack Icicle Crash from Glastrier, Water Spout from Kyogre, and Surging Strikes from Urshifu-R. 116 EVs in Attack and an Adamant nature allow Landorus-T to secure OHKOs on Zacian-C as well as non-Dynamaxed Dialga and Solgaleo.

Landorus-T makes for a decent Choice Scarf user, as it will outspeed both Zacian-C and Calyrex-S and deal significant damage to them. However, this set lacks the consistency and versatility that makes Landorus-T so strong. Rock Tomb is an alternative option to Rock Slide as a form of speed control if the team does not already have one; however, Max Airstream is better, as it is more permanent due to buffing your side's Speed, and losing Rock Slide gets rid of any opportunities to win off of flinches.

[OVERVIEW]

Access to Intimidate and a strong Ground/Flying-typing have made Landorus-T one of the strongest Pokemon in every season of VGC in which it has been legal, and 2021 is no exception. (It also has 145 base Attack, I would probably word it in such a way that showcases that.) (The end also feels like a car sales pitch: I think we should really try to generalise to Series 8 wherever possible, as that's where the analyses are going) A meta dominated by Steel-types (A couple of examples like Zacian-C and Dialga would be nice) allows it to shine even further due to the offensive pressure it puts on them. Because of this, Landorus-T also makes for an excellent Dynamax target, dishing out powerful Max Airstreams and Max Quakes. Damage mitigation is also highly valued in a Dynamax meta, so the ability to spam Intimidate is highly valued on nearly any team. Intimidate is a vital tool in Dynamax metagames, as it allows the team to mitigate damage from strong physical threats such as Kartana and Rillaboom. (I think here, the subject should be Intimidate as that is what Landorus-T has, and then we can speak about why that's relevant). Landorus-T also packs a 4x weakness to Ice-types, so it falls very quickly to Calyrex-Ice, Glastrier, and most anything that carries Ice-Type coverage. (This wording is slightly strange because we've gone from listing positives to listing a negative in the same tone.) It is also very common for teams to include Pokemon with abilities such as Defiant and Competitive (Thundurus is basically the prime example, might want to mention Milotic as it can hit it well) in order to punish it and other Intimidate users for switching in. (This feels like a statement about what Defiant and Competitive do rather than their relevancy to Landorus-T, no need to mention the others here)

move 2: Rock Slide / Fly
move 3: Swords Dance
move 4: Protect / Fly
item: Lum Berry / Life Orb
ability: Intimidate

evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Lum Berry is the preferred item for most Landorus-T sets due to the prevalence of Will-O-Wisp and Amoonguss in the format. This allows it to switch in to any status move and shrug it off for free. (Move this further down, mention moves first) (Add a point about Life Orb here, because it's more than legitimate)

* As previously stated, Intimidate allows Landorus-T to switch in reduce the incoming damage of opposing physical attackers. This is especially relevant when it is so common for Pokemon such as Zacian-C and Solgaleo (This is a poor example as it has Full Metal Body) to be firing off boosted 100+ BP moves several turns in a row. Cycling in Intimidates across the course of a game can greatly reduce their damage output. (I would move this further down as well. I think also shortening this point would be better, as Intimidate really can be mentioned for what it's hitting, and then realistically you can move on)

* Earthquake is Landorus-T's bread and butter. (Possibly more on the prose side, but this phrase might not translate so well out of native understanding. Something like "Earthquake is Landorus-T's primary attacking move) This allows it to hit all of the popular Steel-type restricted Pokemon like Dialga and Zacian-C for super effective damage. Max Quake is also an extremely powerful max move, allowing Landorus-T to boost its Special Defense while dishing out massive single target damage. (All good here)

* Deciding between Rock Slide and Fly is often a tough choice. (This is kinda fluffy, just move straight into explaining what they do) Rock Slide is a strong spread move with the added benefit of having a flinch chance, which can win you games in some situations. Fly is a STAB move that can help you to stall out opposing Dynamax turns, but often ends up running in to an opposing Protect. (While yes this is true, Max Airstream is the main reason to use this at the end of the day so mention that and its speed boost) The deciding factor is usually which max move is more valuable for your team, (I think this isn't necessary) Max Airstream for boosting speed and hitting Grass-types like Rillaboom and Amoonguss for big damage or Max Rockfall for changing weather and hitting Flying-types such as Yveltal and Zapdos more reliably. (These are all good points but it's just done in the wrong order here if you ask me. I would remove this and merge the calcs into what the moves themselves do)

* Swords Dance allows Landorus-T to pack a lot of extra punch, turning many 2HKOs in to OHKOs. +2 Attack Max Quake can even reliably take out Dynamaxed Dialga before it gets any defensive boosts. (I know you were feeling unsure about this, so am I. I think the point about Dialga is absolutely fine, so I would probably just say SD allows that as a primary example and forget about "packing more punch" because that's kinda just what that move does.)

* This set leans into Landorus-T's defensive capabilities and allows it to act more as a pivot while still serving as a strong offensive option while Dynamaxed. The EV spread allows it to live a variety of super effective moves while Dynamaxed, including -1 Attack Icicle Crash from Glastrier, Water Spout from Kyogre, and Surging Strikes from Urshifu-R. (Move this point last just for consistency with formatting)
(Question: is 116+ Atk doing anything of note, if it's securing a KO that you absolutely cannot go lower than this amount for mention it. It's probably fine as is though because Lando runs so many EV spreads)

* Earthquake is essential on every Landorus-T set as its primary offensive move. It allows you it to deal big damage to many of the most common Pokemon in the meta such as Incineroar and Regieleki (It probably OHKOs this tbh).

* Fly is mainly used when Landorus-T is Dynamaxed, as it allows it to fire off super strong STAB Max Airstreams. At +1 Speed, it can outspeed Thundurus, Kartana, and Urshifu. Fly can also be useful in some late-game situations outside of Dynamax when it can be used to force opposing max moves to miss while it is in the air. (If you're going to slash in Superpower, it's best to explain what Superpower does here)

* U-turn maximizes Landorus-T's pivoting potential by allowing it to Intimidate its opponents and then switch out in to one of its teammates so they take less damage from incoming physical moves. (This is just what Intimidate does to be fair)

* Landorus-T works well on nearly any team, but works best when paired with other forms of damage mitigation such as Incineroar with Intimidate and Snarl/Parting Shot, screens from Grimmsnarl, and Will-O-Wisp users. Incineroar and other Intimidate users are especially helpful because it allows you to cycle between them and stack debuffs and allow your threats to come in and sweep without any worries. (I think because we're not really mentioning team options, this isn't strictly necessary and I wouldn't worry about it. I'd just analyse what Landorus-T is doing in a vacuum)

Landorus-T can also make makes for a decent Choice Scarf user, as it will allow for it to outspeed both Zacian and Calyrex-Shadow and deal significant damage to them. (I think it's important to note that this improves how well it can pivot, as it won't get caught in front of the opponent if it tries to U-turn, allowing it to pivot for damage. Scarf can also be winning in the endgame with Rock Slide flinches) However, this set lacks the consistency and versatility that makes Landorus-T so strong. Rock Tomb is also an alternative option to Rock Slide on some sets if your team doesn't already have consistent speed control. (I would probably say "Rock Tomb is an alternative option to Rock Slide as a form of speed control if the team does not already have one." I also think it's worth mentioning that Max Airstream is more permanent as it boosts your side's speed, and you lose the chance to flinch which can win games. It might also deserve a mention for being single target compared to Rock Slide, but this point is long enough)

(or edit this however you want to, just don't reference past metas or gens bc this analysis is abt current vgc) A metagame dominated by Steel-types such as Dialga and Zacian-C, (AC) (either don't add this or add another comma before such as) allows it to shine even further due to the offensive pressure it puts on them. Because of this, Landorus-T also makes for an excellent Dynamax target user, (target kinda implies a target of a move or smth but if it's a vgc term just @ me on discord and i can clarify stuff) dishing out powerful Max Airstreams and Max Quakes Max Moves such as Max Airstream and Max Quake. (changed bc on the sd set fly isn't even first slash + also remvoes error of making moves plural) Intimidate is a vital tool in this Dynamax metagame, as it allows the team to mitigate damage from strong physical threats such as Rillaboom and Kartana. However, Landorus-T also packs a few significant downsides, including a 4x weakness to Ice-types, so it falls very quickly to Calyrex-Ice (RC) and Glastrier, and as well as almost anything that carries Ice-type coverage. It is also very common for teams to include Pokemon with abilities such as Defiant and Competitive (what pokemon run these?) in order to punish it Landorus-T for switching in.

[SET]
name: Swords Dance
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Rock Slide / Fly
move 3: Swords Dance
move 4: Protect / Fly
item: Lum Berry / Life Orb
ability: Intimidate
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Earthquake is Landorus-T's primary attacking move on any set. This allows (avoid cross referencing sets) it Landorus-T to hit all of the popular Steel-type restricted Pokemon like Dialga and Zacian-C for super effective damage. Max Quake is also an extremely powerful Max Move (Capitalize), allowing Landorus-T to boost its Special Defense while dishing out massive single target damage.

* Rock Slide is a great spread move that gives Landorus-T a better match up matchup against Flying-types such as Yveltal and Zapdos (RC) while also allowing it to use Max Rockfall to change the weather in the face of Kyogre and Groudon. Fly, (AC) on the other hand, (AC) is mostly used for a powerful Max Airstreams Airstream, which lets Landorus-T boost its Speed while doing big damage to Grass-types like Amoonguss and Rillaboom.

* Swords Dance allows Landorus-T to stand up better against Dynamaxed threats such as Dialga. +2 Max Quake can even OHKO it before it gets any defensive boosts from its own max moves Max Moves.

* Lum Berry is the preferred item for most Landorus-T sets due to the prevalence of Will-O-Wisp and Amoonguss's Spore (i think this si what you're referencing but change if not) in the format. This allows it to switch in to into any status move and shrug it off for free. Life Orb allows Landorus-T to dish out significantly (writer feel free to keep this if it's more accurate) increased damage (RC) but leaves it as a prime target for Will-O-Wisp and sleep moves.

[SET]
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Fly / Superpower
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Rock Slide
item: Assault Vest
ability: Intimidate
nature: Adamant
evs: 212 HP / 116 Atk / 36 Def / 76 SpD / 68 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Earthquake is essential on every Landorus-T set as its primary offensive move. It allows you Landorus- T to deal big damage to many of the most common Pokemon in the metagame such as Incineroar and allows you it to OHKO Regieleki.

* Fly is mainly used when Landorus-T is Dynamaxed, as it allows it Landorus-T to fire off super strong STAB Max Airstreams. At +1 Speed, it can outspeed Thundurus, Kartana, and Urshifu-S (checked w zee. -S is the dark one and -R is the water one so make sure to say which forme). Fly can also be useful in some late-game situations outside of Dynamax when it can be used to force opposing max moves Max Moves to miss while it is in the air. Superpower is sometimes an option when the team lacks a consistent means of hitting Kartana and Ferrothorn for super effective damage. Max Knuckle can also be nice for boosting Landorus-T's Attack stat.

* U-turn maximizes Landorus-T's pivoting potential by allowing it to Intimidate its opponents opposing Pokemon and then switch out in to into one of its teammates.

* This set leans into Landorus-T's defensive capabilities and allows it to act more as a pivot while still serving as a strong offensive option while Dynamaxed. The EV spread allows it to live survive a variety of super effective moves while Dynamaxed, including -1 Attack Icicle Crash from Glastrier, Water Spout from Kyogre, and Surging Strikes from Urshifu-R. 116 EVs in Attack and an Adamant nature allow Landorus-T to secure OHKOs on Zacian-C as well as non-Dynamaxed Dialga and Solgaleo.

Other Options
=============

Landorus-T makes for a decent Choice Scarf user, as it will outspeed both Zacian-C and Calyrex-Shadow and deal significant damage to them. However, this set lacks the consistency and versatility that makes Landorus-T so strong. Rock Tomb is an alternative option to Rock Slide as a form of speed control if the team does not already have one; (semicolon) however, (AC) Max Airstream is better, (AC) as it is more permanent due to buffing your side's Speed, (AC) and losing Rock Slide gets rid of any opportunities to win off of flinches.
