Hey I felt it mght be nice to write a Generation 1-related article for the Smog. So.. I had an idea that I'd like to write an article comparing Articuno and Lapras, (if it's a shit idea then I'd be happy to write about something else lol).. I just thought I'd compare them since they're considered to be very similar pokemon, but Lapras is far far more popular, and it'd be interesting comparing why o.o.. another idea that might be better is comparing pokemon in the lead spot in gen 1 ou, since it's a pretty important and well-defined metagame. So the introduction could explain how sleep works in gen 1 and why it's important, and then I can do individual analysis of the pokemon and sets (so Jynx, Alakazam, Gengar, Starmie, Exeggutor). Either of these sound like good articles?

lapras vs articuno is a pretty narrow topic for a full article. it might be tricky to write that much and keep it interesting.

gen 1 leads could be solid. make sure it doesn't overlap too much with this letter. it doesn't go into individual sets, and has a stronger focus on sleep and sleep fodder. you can touch on some of the same subject matter, but make sure you distinguish your article from it.

hmm.. I could work on for this issue an article on leads, keeping it distinct from Crystal_'s article, and maybe next issue I could write one on Ice types in RBY (A bit more expansive than articuno vs lapras, mentioning cloyster and jynx gives me a lot more to discuss)

I'd be open for an article on RBY leads, where sets are posted with their the benefits and disadvantages explained, but are you the right man for the job? I've seen you hang around Ruins of Alpha, but I can't recall any particular informative posts. Jellicent , what's your opinion?

I am suited to writing it. Jellicent knows I'm a decent RBY player, I was a manager in the ruins of alph premier league, also I am a moderator of the RBY community's competitive forum pokemonperfect.com

Alright then! Piexplode , I've now given you access to our workshop. Here's a general message we give all new writers:

1) Get your stuff done on time. If there's ever a situation that comes up, talk with The Smog Staff, and we'll make accommodations. The key here is communication; we need to hear from you if something is up that will prevent you from meeting the deadline. Try to get your stuff done in two weeks if possible, in order to give the GP/HTML/art team time to get everything done.

2) Don't leak any of our stuff until the release happens. This includes art and any other information. If you ever want feedback on your work or have questions, you can join us in #thesmog on IRC (if you don't have IRC, you can PM me or another staffer on the forums and I'll give you a link).

If you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask The Smog Staff. When you post your thread in the Article Workshop, you need to set labels for it. You'll need to set the issue's number too. For the tags that say WIP, Grammar, etc, those are the stages your article are in. Since you'll ideally be working on the article after posting your thread, mark it as WIP. When you finish, move it to Grammar and get it checked twice by other people. Afterward is the HTML stage and someone will put it into HTML code. Your article will eventually get art done for it and it'll be complete!
Welcome to the force!
