Context: my school has an annual four-day scavenger hunt and we currently hold the record for the largest scavenger hunt in the world. Past items have included: building a nuclear reactor (completed), getting your team name onto the South Pole, etc. It's a pretty big deal on campus.

Why, you ask, is this relevant? This year there is an item that reads:
270. Do you want to be a master? Have you got the skills to be #1? Then hit the road with your team of six and begin the quest to become Champion of the Uscava Region! Participating teams must put forward a Trainer and a Gym Leader. Single-elimination Gym Battles will occur on Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. We’ll provide rules and instructions at WRESTLEMANIA. Bebadged survivors of the Gym gauntlet should gather at the end of Scav Olympics on Saturday to take on the Elite 4 and determine who’s the very best, like no one ever was. [5 points for participation, 2 points per Gym Badge, and 10 points to the Champion

Rules and Regulations of Item 270.
Approved games: Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, or White 2
Systems: Any DS or 3DS
Battle type: IR singles with six Pokémon (use of Wonder Launcher not permitted)
Both Trainers and Gym Leaders must use the same team for this entire competition. Send lists of your six Pokémon and their movesets to the Scav Pokémon League along with your cell number at ArceusJudgment@gmail.com by 11:59 PM Thursday. These lists will not be made public, but Gym types will be. Trainers’ teams can include six Pokémon of any type (except for the banned Pokémon listed below). Gym Leaders’ teams must contain all Pokémon of a single type. Any type other than Dragon is permitted for a Gym Leader team, and different Gyms can have the same type. Gyms (team HQs) must be open for challenges from 9:00 AM through 11:59 PM on Friday. Foyers and vestibules are suggested as battlegrounds for teams that fear Trainer incursion into their sanctum sanctorum. Trainers must give Gym Leaders advance warning of at least 15 minutes before challenging their Gyms; Gym Leader cell numbers will be exchanged for this purpose. Each Gym Leader must have a uniform set of hand-made, original Gym Badges on hand to give to victorious challengers, these Badges are necessary for entry to the Pokémon League (granting a TM and the ability to use the move Surf outside of battle is optional). Trainers will have one rematch opportunity for the entire competition, otherwise it is single-elimination. Following each match both participants should e-mail the outcome and a list of Pokémon used (to confirm use of a single team between matches) to ArceusJudgment@gmail.com. Any rule-breaking should be brought to our attention and will be grounds for total disqualification. Trainers and Gym Leaders are encouraged to have a witness on hand for their battles. In the event that multiple trainers defeat the Elite 4, the winners will face each other to determine a single Champion.
Teams may include only one Pokémon of a given species (including forme changes, e.g., a team with Landorus-Incarnate and Landorus-Therian is not permitted). Different stages of an evolutionary line are here considered separate species (e.g., it is legal to use Porygon-2 and Porygon-Z on the same team).
The following Pokémon are banned from this competition (includes all formes of listed Pokémon):
Mewtwo
Lugia
Ho-Oh
Latios
Latias
Kyogre
Groudon
Rayquaza
Deoxys
Dialga
Palkia
Giratina
Darkrai
Manaphy
Shaymin
Arceus

Any Pokémon with the ability Moody
Any Water-type Pokémon with the ability Swift Swim when used on a team with Drizzle
Any Pokémon with the ability Sand Veil when used on a team with Sand Stream
Any Pokémon with the ability Snow Cloak when used on a team with Snow Warning
Hacked Pokémon: this includes anything that has illegal movesets (e.g., Pikachu with Shell Smash), illegal abilities (e.g., Sableye with Wonder Guard), illegal stats (e.g., Chansey with 999 Base Defense), currently unreleased hidden abilities (e.g., Chandelure with Shadow Tag), etc.
The following moves are banned from this competition:
Double Team
Minimize
Fissure
Guillotine
Horn Drill
Sheer Cold
Sleep-inducing moves (Dark Void, GrassWhistle, Hypnosis, Lovely Kiss, Sing, Sleep Powder, Yawn, and Spore) cannot be used if a Pokémon on the opposing team has already been put to sleep. This does not apply if the opposing Pokémon was put to sleep by the opposing player using Rest. Relic Song, which has a sleep chance but is primarily a damage inflicting move, is permitted at all times regardless of sleep status. Any Pokémon put to sleep by the Effect Spore ability also do not count towards this rule.
