Hey Everybody, Raditz here bringing you an RMT dedicated to my least favorite time of year- the end of summer vacation. I know that many of you guys here are Students, whether it be High School or College, don't like to put away the beach towels and swimsuits and pick up Pencils and Notebooks. I made this team in dedication of my final trip to the beach for the summer. me and a few friends came up with the team idea while... you guessed it, relaxing on the beach ^_^. this team goes into the category of teams i never made before: Sand Teams. Quick rundown, i am not a fan of weather in general. The Metagame is over-centralized on Rain thanks to the Therians and i'm just not a fan of any of the 4 weathers. but i thought i would give it a shot because im prone to doing weird things (>.>) So here we go!

Team building process

1st, we are going to need sand. not really much to explain, it was either him or Hippowdon, and i had a set in mind so TTar it is!

Next i wanted a bulky hazard setter. i choose Ferrothorn over Forretress in the end because of its access to Leech Seed for recovery, and its just a poke i never used before, so i wanted to take it out for a spin (ironic because he does not get Rapid Spin :P)

Stoutland was an obvious choice, with access to Sand Rush as well as somewhat decent coverage moves. It fits on my team nicely and i like it.

I need a poke that could rapid spin. I noticed (as you may have already) i have a glaring Fighting-Type Weakness. Starmie met both team needs as well as added Special moves to my physical-heavy movepool.

I chose to go with Gliscor as another poke that can resist Fighting type moves. the moveset you will see below fits itself nicely with the theme of this team.

Finally we have Heatran. he's my main answer to opposing Sun teams, as well as another Special-Attacking poke to go on this hyper Physical team. He fits his roll on the team really nicely and is clutch in helping me with Scizor who otherwise could sweep my team with 1 SD.

THE TEAM

Tyranitar (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch

Here We have an old favorite that rarely gets any usage. Dragon Dance Tyranitar is one of those many fantastic movesets that died out with the transition to 5th gen. I was skeptical of this set, but after 1 DD it can nearly OHKO/OHKO alot of things thanks to its superb coverage. Running leftovers is a toss up for me. I could have run the recommended Life Orb, but Tyranitar needs to take a hit or 2 while it sets up. Life Orb would not be favorable because with constant HP loss, it losses its capability of Sweeping teams.

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Thunder Wave
- Spikes

Ferrothorn is a great way to deal with Politoad and other bulky pokemon. Im Running the standard Ferrothorn (at Least i think its standard) so i dont need to explain how Nattorei works, since its running around on every other team. Just Leech Seed and protect to recover HP and deal some constant damage, Twave to slow down faster pokes so that my other pokes can deal with them, and spikes as the much obligatory hazard-of-choice

Stoutland (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Return
- Wild Charge
- Pursuit
- Superpower

I have learned to like this big ol' dog. Sand Rush is a real pain in the ass for opponents who have lost their Choice scarf user. I actually changed the set last minute. it was a CB set that was not working out, and I don't like to lock my self into a single move when Stoutlands coverage is really decent and totally abusable. Also the Loss of power isnt that big so it can do more while not being set up fodder.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin

Starmie adds a much needed resistance to Scizor, as well as some Special attacking power to my Physical-oriented team. he also adds Rapid spin Support to my team, which isn't needed that much, but is nice to have especially against those hazard phazing teams, which are annoying to play against :/ I could change it to Jellicent but as of now, it is working out nicely. Let me know what you guys think.

Gliscor (F) @ Flying Gem
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Acrobatics
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Substitute

Yeah so here we have Gliscor. Sub + SD is not as common, but it should be prepared for. It can rip holes through teams by bluffing a Protect to get up toxic orb. Once you get a free sub up, SD and prepare to demolish everything. + 2 Flying Gem Acrobatics will OHKO basically everything in the tier ( Including some things that resist it! ). Sand Veil makes opponents rage if I can avoid attacks that can let me set up my Swords Dance, ensuring the kill. I love this Bat and it has swept many-a-team with a combo of natural physical bulk as well as well as the Sand Veil.

heatran_wuvs_balloon_by_pyritie-d2z6apb.png

Heatran (F) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Lava Plume
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Roar
- Stealth Rock

Finally, whats a day at the beach without some sun? of course im not using Ninetails, but Heatran works in its place. I use Specially Defensive Heatran to set up my Stealth Rocks and Roar out set up sweepers and rack up hazard damage if Ferrothorn has its Spikes up as well. It can also hit other pokes with its diverse movepool except other Heatrans. This is another poke whose moveset i changed last minute. I gave it Stealth Rocks and Roar over Earth Power and Will-O-Wisp. Will-O isn't needed since Lava Plume has a 30% Burn rate anyway and Earth Power isn't needed since i have decent coverage without it, and i needed a way to stop set-up sweepers like Volcarona.

CONCLUSSION

So yeah, that is the team in a nutshell. It was fun to make and surprisingly really successful, getting me to 1250 points on the PO ladder. Although we are saddened to see the summer end and the beginning of school, we can take solace in the fact that depending on what you chose to do. Weather you sat at your Computer all summer, or went on vacation or even (like me) the beach, we can definitively say we enjoyed the summer the way we wanted too. See you guys in Winter for a Hail RMT ^_^ and please leave any and all feedback in the comments below. Catch you later peeps!

Hello, this is a solid team you got here!

First off I suggest you try a different spread on Starmie with a Timid Nature with an EV spread of 252 HP / 44 Def / 216 Spe Scald / Recover / Psyshock / Rapid Spin that can tank physical hits and gain enough speed to outrun and beat base 110's. I also suggest you run Stone Edge over Ice which garners you a new STAB and more powerful move. Ice Punch offers you no new coverage aside from Gliscor, and is overall the better option. On your Ferrothorn, I suggest using Power Whip over Protect to actually provide damage to bulky waters like Rotom-W.

On Heatran, you should consider Shell Bell as you need a reliable counter to check Volcarona. By keeping Heatran alive you can handle Volcarona and the sun sweepers easily. I suggest trying Toxic to help defeat last Poke roost Volcarona.

Good luck!

This team has been doing great. it has gotten me to a decent ranking on the ladder. Only a few loses here and there, but its mainly because of me over-predicting and the occasional missclick. Also Arty beat me, but that's only because he watched me battle and made a team that completely countered mine (thanx dick <3)

Hey cool team man. However, one glaring weakness to your team is fighting-types, mainly Lucario, who after one Swords Dance is able to demolish your team, bar Gliscor who outspeeds and KOs it. The problem, though, is that you have no way of healing Gliscor from all the Fighting-type attacks it is coming in on, meaning it dies fairly quickly. I suggest you switch to a defensive variant with a moveset consisting of Toxic / Roost / Taunt / Earthquake, the standard EV spread of 252 HP / 184 Defense / 72 Speed, an Impish Nature and a Toxic Orb. Roost alongside a Toxic Orb + Poison Heal give you the tools you need to replenish HP after taking on those devastating Fighting-type attacks. Toxic + Roost can also help you in ToxicStalling the opponent somewhat. Taunt is used so your foe cannot use any recovery moves and it also stops them from using hazards. It isn't needed though since you do have a rapid spin support, so if you want, you can use Protect to further enhance ToxicStalling + Poison Heal recovery and scouting movesets. Another alternative would be using Ice Fang to hit opposing Gliscor and physical Dragons as you should shrugg off their hits pretty easily, while responding with Ice Fang. Now, Lucario is still a problem because now Lucario can outspeed and OHKO Gliscor with Ice Punch if they carry it. However, if you switch your Tyranitar into a Choice Scarf set, you are now able to check Lucario with ease since almost none carry Bullet Punch. The set consists of Crunch / Stone Edge / Super Power / Pursuit, with the EV Spread of 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed, alongside a Jolly Nature and a Choice Scarf. With Tyranitar scarfed, it can act as an effective revenge killer, slamming Lucario with Superpower for the OHKO as it will not take more than 35% from a +2 LO Adamant Extremespeed. It can also perform a huge role in trapping and killing the Lati twins which is very nice. Another bonus is it can kill Starmie who could possibly spin your hazards away, and Gengar, who can spinblock if you ever try to. Another suggestion I have is using the standard EV spread of 252 HP / 88 Defense / 168 Special Defense on Ferrothorn for maximizing your defensive capabilities. Using Gyro Ball over Thunder Wave is also helpful. It gives you a damage dealing move and can hit Dragon-types locked into Outrage for nice damage. If you do make the change, use a Relaxed Nature and 0 Speed IVs to give Gyro Ball maximum power. I also agree in using the Starmie set that PDC has provided, except I think you should also test Psychic over Psyshock since it allows you to hit physically bulky fighting-types such as Conkeldurr and Toxicroak better. You are also missing 4 EVs on Stoutland. Put them into Special Defense. Hope I helped and good luck.

Thanks Shining Latios. Yeah those 4 missing EV's were for SDef but somehow got cut out. Lucario is an issue that 1st came to mind when I created the team. i have faced about 2 SD sets so far with this team, and a solid way to deal with them is to let something die off and bring in Stoutland. A +2 Espeed from Lucario does 77-90% damage so as long as there are no hazards on the field, i can OHKO it with Superpower. i hazards are in play, I need to pray for min damage. I know its not the best way to deal with Lucario, but at the moment it is working swimmingly. TTar is something i may or may not change. i will most likely change up my ferrothorn set you have mentioned. any and all changes i will mark in Red with an explanation of why
