Hi all. I played some OU and I found out that MoxieMence is a big ass threat. So I tried building a team around him.
The Team:
'Snowball'
Salamence(Moxie) @ Choice Scarf
Naughty : 252 Att/ 4 Spec Att/ 252 Speed
-Outrage
-Dragon Claw
-Fire Blast
-Brick Break
So good it merited having the team built around it. I always save my Mence for late game. With a scarf it can be a good revenge killer, but it usually doesn't serve this role for me. I have to play it carefully because when I lose Mence, I lose almost all my attacking threat. On to the moves. Outrage is there to spam late game what steels are gone and everything is weak. Dragon claw is when I can't risk getting locked into outrage. Fire blast for early game when Steels are still around. And Brick Break... well I never use it. I suppose it could be decent if screens are up.
'Magneato'
Magnezone(Magnet Pull) @ Choice Specs
Modest : 148 Hp/ 252 Spec Att/112 Speed
-Volt Switch
-Hidden Power(Fire)
-Thunderbolt
-Flash Cannon
Magnezone was the second member I chose for the team. I thought about what stops Mence sweeps the most? Steels. This poke is the ultimate steel counter and also tears holes thanks to his specs. HP fire is the obvious steel killing move. Thunderbolt is the powerful STAB. Volt Switch gives me initiative when I predict the opponent to switch. And Flash Cannon is mostly just there to hit opposition Tyranitars. I rarely use Flash Cannon.
'Happy Feet'
Chansey(Natural Cure) @ Eviolite
Bold : 252 Hp/ 252 Def/ 4 Spec D
-Wish
-Protect
-Toxic
-Seismic Toss
The premier specially defensive wall. Volcarona and Latios have tried to set up in her face and failed. Can take mild physical hits thanks to eviolite. Perhaps the ultimate stall poke. Anyways, I use a wish passing set to keep her and the rest of the team healthy. Wish and protect are there for the aforementioned reason. Toxic puts a timer on those pokes who think they can set up and sweep. Seismic Toss gets consistent damage and can sometimes be used in the wish protect mind games. Completely walled by Gengar though. :(
'Knox'
Forretress(Sturdy) @ Leftovers
Impish : 252 Hp/ 252 Def/ 4 Spec D
-Toxic Spikes
-Stealth Rock
-Rapid Spin
-Volt Switch
My physical wall. My Hazard user. My Spinner. My Fodder. Forretress serves so many purposes to the team, it makes me sad no one uses him anymore. His job is simple. Set up my hazards, spin the opponents away and be fodder for a safe switch when his job is done. I use toxic spikes over spikes because it wears down grounded opponents regardless of switches. And Volt switch is good since it usually goes second and gives a safe switch in. Gets away from Magnezones if trapped. I find it is super easy set up bait however. Still a vital member.
'Sike'
Hitmontop(Technician) @ Life Orb
Adamant : 252 Hp/ 252 Att /4 Speed
-Fake Out
-Mach Punch
-Close Combat
-Sucker Punch
His name is a dead giveaway of his job, but any good player will know what he does as soon as the see no intimidate. Hitmontop is perhaps the best priority user in the game. He is usually my check if I let someone set up a bit too much. Fake out, switch, and repeat until a mach punch or sucker punch can KO. Is also my best answer to scarfers faster than Mence. I've yet to use Close combat, Hitmontop is just not fast enough in the OU Metagame. I can see myself replacing him with Technician Breloom when it's released, but no guarantees.
'Spectre'
Jellicent(Water Absorb) @ Leftovers
Bold : 248 Hp/ 216 Def / 44 Speed
-Scald
-Will-o-Wisp
-Recover
-Taunt
Jelli is such a monster. I really don't know how it takes hits so well but it just does. Great check to physical attackers like Terrakion and Scizor. It loves burning the opposition too with Scald or will-o. Taunt stops set ups, and Jelli can outstall Ferro if it's taunted and burned.Even functions as a spin blocker if it's crucial that I keep my SR or T-Spikes up.
Threats: Reuniclus- Massive threat. Unlike most set up sweepers Reuniclus has Magic Guard, so I can't stall it out. A Bulky CM Recover set is the bane of this team. After a few CM's Magnezone won't scratch it anymore so my only hope is that it's low enough where Mence can kill it. Really need something that can check it.
And that it so far. Haven't played too many games with this team yet, but it hasn't come across anything it cant handle yet bar Reuniclus. Please feel free to leave any suggestions to improve this team, but personally, I'd say it works quite well.
