LC RMT: Bellymander Sweep

that's right guys, a Little Cup RMT! lol. me and one of my friends got bored and decided to try out some other pokes and noticed Little Cup one day when battling and thought "hey why not?"... did some research and basically we're following all rules except 1: we'll be using Lv50 pokes (or even possibly Lv100) instead of Lv5. this is my 1st try at LC so idk any major threats (but nether does my friend), so the team is just based on getting Charmander out to set up. on to the team:

Notes
- changes in Bold Italics
- things Underlined in "Why's She/He here?" are asking for advice
- i just now realized that 5/6 of the team is 1st gen >.< lol. can't beat the classics

Strategy:
i start out sending Status everywhere via Meowth, Chinchou, and Machop. this helps play mind games with the opponent and get them a little freaked out while i simply scout for anything that may threaten Charmander. while this is going on, Gastly provides some much needed coverage and comes in handy with 3 immunities and Diglett Revenge Kills if something happens to go down. after i've weakened/Status'd/killed their Charmander threats i bring him in to set up and GG :D

In Depth:

"For Teh Lolz" Lead
dpmfa052.png

**Baby** Meowth @ Wide Lens (Technician)
-Jolly-
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 6 HP
Fake Out
U-Turn
Bite
Hypnosis

starts the match off fun. Fake Out + Hypno + U-Turn is hilarious and annoying. STAB Technician Fake Out hurts pretty badly and breaks Sashes... Bite for Technician boosted Ghost coverage, and U-Turn provides some scouting and fun psychic coverage also. Wide Lens simply helps with Hypnosis' Acc.

Fighting -> Gastly

Why's She Here?: this little kitty just stuck out at me when i was searching through the web for LC info. i've always loved the LO Fake Out + U-Turn Ambipom and this is just a LC version. man will this annoy my friend XD

The Spec. Backup
dpmfa092.png

**Ghoul** Gastly @ Life Orb
-Hasty-
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 6 HP
Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb
Explosion
Energy Ball

nothing too special here (lol)... full out sweeper that's pretty much my all around counter. STAB Shadow Ball for other Ghosts or Psychics (that switch into me), Sludge bomb for Grass types eyeing Chinchou, Explosion is just a general suicide move to get rid of any Char counters, and Energy Ball for Waters and Grounds targeting Char and simply Grounds for Chinchou. LO gives him a bit more punch and still lets him switch attacks

Ghost -> Meowth/himself if they switch in
Psychic -> Meowth/himself if they switch in
Dark -> Machop

Why's He Here?: he was the last member to be chosen for the team. basically i needed a Spec. member on the team other than Chinchou and it came down to him and Missy seeing was they're the 2 powerhouse Ghosts (gotta love their immunities) in LC and this guy just comes with better coverage to back up the team.

The Wall / Parafusionist
dpmfa170.png

**ThunderStorm** Chinchou @ Leftovers (Volt Absorb)
-Bold-
252 HP / 198 Def / 60 SpDef
T-Wave
Confuse Ray
T-Bolt
Surf

this lil fishy is one heck of a Parafusionist! STAB T-Bolt for other waters along with Flyers, STAB Surf for Grounds/Rocks. T-Wave helps slow things down for the entire team to function even better as a whole, and Confuse Ray gives me some Parafusion :)... and i decided to give her Phy. Bulk though this is not recomended

Grass -> Charmander, Gastly
Ground -> Gastly

Why's She Here?: from what i've found she's one of the funniest and best Walls in LC. also, Parafusion is amusing and helps Charmander get a free turn of 2

The Set Up
dpmfa066.png

**Chan** Machop @ Leftovers (No Guard)
-Careful-
252 HP / 128 Atk / 92 SpDef / 36 Def
Dynamic Punch
Bullet Punch
Ice Punch
Bulk Up

gotta love 100% Confusion, 100 Acc, STAB'd Dynamic Punch <3. this helps with the Parafusion from Chinchou and causes havoc even on its' own! Bullet Punch for priority, Ice Punch for Dragons, Grounds (saved your butt Char :D), Grass (you too Chinchou) or Flyers on the switch-in. Bulk Up with Leftovers and 252 HP EVs can help keep this guy going and hitting even harder. changed his Nature and EVs a bit... he's actually not as hard as it'd seem to set up and get going. with all my Status support i really like him

Flying -> Chinchou
Psychic -> Meowth

Why's He Here?: basically i felt the team needed a back up in case Char is taken out and i lacked a hard hitting Fighting move. i like the Bulk Up version due to my Sleep, Paralysis, and Confusion support so it shouldn't be too hard to set up.

The Phy. Powerhouse
dpmfa004.png

**Char** Charmander @ Salac Berry
-Jolly-
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 6 Def
Sub
Belly Drum
Brick Break
Fire Punch

center of the team :D! Chinchou, Gastly, Diglett, and Machop take care of this guys weaknesses nicely. Sub up, Belly Drum, get the berry boost and sweep! +6 Atk +1 Spe has amazing potential... Brick Break hits Rock types nicely once i've set up and gives some extra coverage (helps vs other Fires) and Blaze STAB Fire Punch is his main attack and also takes care of Grass, Ice, and Steels

Water -> Chinchou, Gastly
Ground -> Gastly
Rock -> Diglett, Machop

Why's He Here?: he's by far one of my fav pokes ever therefore i made him the centerpeice. gotta love Umbreon, Charmander, and Quilava <3 but Char simply provides much better sweeping than Cyndaquil or Eevee

The Revenge Killer
dpmfa050.png

**DigDug** Diglett @ Choice Scarf (Arena Trap)
-Adamant-
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 6 HP
EQ
Sucker Punch
Aerial Ace
Rock Slide

every team needs a Revenge Killer. STAB EQ keeps those pesky Rocks from ruining Char, sucker Punch nails Ghosts and Revenge Kills Psychics, AA is simply for Grasses that may come in for Flyer/Levitators or Fighting (i'll avenge you Meowth!), and Rock Slide for Flyers who stay and Revenge Kill Ices trying to ruin my parade

Water -> Chinchou, Gastly
Grass -> Charmander, Gastly
Ice -> Machop, Charmander, Chinchou

Why's He Here?: the team lacked both Ground/Rock attacks, a Fighting killer, and a Revenge Killer and this guy fit the bill perfectly. works just like his big brother Dugtrio

well there's the team! Hate/Rate/Steal (though i doubt anyone will do the latter of the 3 >.<)

24 Hr Bump

i know you guys don't really deal with LC, but i thought i could at least get some oppinions? anyone?

btw, i know i'm a bit Psychic weak, but i doubt my friend will be using Arba so no worry there

Pretty good team, but be careful not to switch Char on anything that wont give you a free turn.

For this reason, run Confuse Ray and Discharge over T wave and T-bolt, or just switch Confuse ray for T-wave or Ice Beam or Surf, up to you. You need Char to get in untouched for the strat to work well, so Parafusion gives them a 25% chance of attacking if they don't switch, and a free turn if they do.

Hypnosis on Meowth is good. Benefits the whole set up idea for Char. But I wouldn't go LO, seeing as each FO takes 10%, the whole point there is for a free bit of damage. So mabye run Scope for hypnosis, or silk scarf, or just keep LO, up to you.

LO would work well for Ghastly, EB is ok, Specs would work too. Once again, up to you. You could run a set with Explosion to take out any given Cmander counter, LO works with that, and a more neutral nature. Just an idea.

Machop isn't really bulky enough for Bulk Up, so you might run a Band, or just a general Phys sweeper. Up to you, once again, I havn't used him.

Pretty good Mander set.

Same with Dug.

Overall, pretty good. Just keep in mind, Char NEEDS a free turn for Sub, and so he has over 75% to sub and drum. Keep that in mind with any edits.

thanks!

i'll try out Wide for Meowth, cuz like you said, Hypno really helps. LO on Gastly seems pretty good now that Meowth probably won't be packing it too, but Specs seems meh to me atm (being my spec. back bone of the team i don't want him locked into something) as does explosion since i'll lose needed coverage on the team. as for Machop i also have no experience with him ether, however i've always liked the idea of No Gaurd Dynamic Punch and wanted to give it a shot even though this is Little Cup

EDIT: i found out my friend is using Pikachu, Chikorita, and Clefairy (he told me a 4th member, but i forgot it >.<) so i decided Confuse Ray > Ice Beam on Chinchou as he probably won't be packing any Dragons

also i've decided to go with Wide on Meowth and LO on Gastly. as for Machop, i think i'll keep him... he adds to the Status support the team is based on, gives me priority, and is my back up plan (however i'll take suggestions on a replacement)

How much LC research did you do before making this team?

I don't know much about LC myself, but I do know that EVs are different there. :)

Diglett shouldn't have rockslide (hidden power ice / shadow claw maybe) and explosion > energy Ball on gastly, and hypnosis / hidden power fighting > sludge bomb. Don't use an expert belt on Gastly; Life Orb is better, or Wide Lens if you use Hypnosis.

That's only a few fixable things I see; I find this helpful:

gl with your team

edit @ aero oasis: HP ice is as a (primary) option for diglett, according to the link above. Learn about LC please lol

also,

i found out my friend is using Pikachu, Chikorita, and Clefairy
aren't you forced to use pichu?

edit2: katherine gave you some great links

edit3: level 50 / 100 little cup? damn

HP Ice on Diglett???? Dude, thats a special move.... lol....

U need Rock Slide to hit those flying types you know will come in on him. works great on him.

HP Ice on Diglett???? Dude, thats a special move.... lol....

Hidden Power Ice on Diglett is for the common Gligar, which you can revenge-kill. Based on your comments (like recommending Expert Belt) you know absolutely nothing about playing the LC metagame.

---

Anyways, on Gastly, run Life Orb over Expert Belt, as the added power is ALWAYS more welcome than a 1.2x boost. Also, use Explosion over Thunderbolt, as Thunderbolt only hits Mantyke, and Explosion can kill Munchlax.

I highly suggest actually battling at level 5, as you can use specific LC EVs instead of...this. This is just like OU battling with NFEs, and if so, you should have put that in the title. LC has different EV spreads, as featured in this thread.

On Machop and Diglett, you should be running Choice Scarf. Diglett becomes a great revenge-killer with it, and revenge-killers are what LC is all about. Use Lonely and HP Ice with the given EVs on LCF. Machop needs a Choice Scarf as it's frail and Bulk Up is useless on Machop because of the fast pacedness. Use the same moveset, but with ThunderPunch over Bulk Up.

For Chinchou's EVs, try 236 HP / 236 SpD, as Chinchou is a special wall and this maximizes the stats.

---

In all, you didn't really seem to know what you were doing here, so I'd recommend looking at this place, as they have a lot of LC information.

@Aero: HP Ice on Diglett is a standard my friend... but that's because at LV5 his SpA is still decent enough to do some major damage (and i'll be Lv50 or 100). and Flyers won't switch in, after all Arena Trap lets them and Levitators go and keeps everything else in

@Cost: also, i realize the EVs work differently Cost (that got me all confused lol), however since we'll be going Lv50 or Lv100 i decided to use Standard EV spreads

Shadow Claw is worth a try, thanks

Sludge Bomb is here as an alternative to Machop coming in and Ice Punching Grass types cuz i don't plan on bringing in Char unless it's absolutely needed, but i'll try out Explosion for sure

i wanna go ahead say i won't be using any Hidden Power at all. in-game they're just too annoying to get =/

EDIT: thanks Katherine! sorry, but we won't be using Lv5 (and i was unaware of NFE actually or i'd have stated it in the title as you suggested). and since we won't be Lv5, EV spreads are what i need most help with, mainly on Chinchou (which i see what you mean about her being a Sp. Wall, but i was attempting to give her Phy. Bulk).

i'll go with Adamant + Scarf on Diggy

and actually that's the site i got most of my info from, however i felt like Smogon could help me more with the larger community and these guys not being Lv5 :)

EDIT2: Cost, i allowed him to use Pika as it's his all time fav poke (though very steriotypical to be a fav >.<). we're friends and thus aren't major rule nazi's lol. besides Diglett can take it out easy ;)

seeing as he is at lvl 50, HP ice will do next to nothing on pokes OTHER than gilgar, and RS can deal with him nicely enough, especially with the flinch chance.

between last night and today i bred all 6 with the correct Natures/Ability/Egg Moves and am ready to start EV training

thanks for all the helps guys, all changes have greatly helped the team :). any last minute suggestions?
