Torchic @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
Level: 5
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 36 Def / 196 SpA / 36 SpD / 236 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 9 HP / 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Tera Blast
- Substitute
- Protect
Get fired up with Torchic, the blazing-hot Pokemon that ignites the battlefield! Speed Boost makes it an excellent late-game cleaner in Little Cup, in part due to the sheer power of a Life Orb-boosted Fire Blast and the low pool of Fire-resistant Pokemon available. Tera Blast Ground lets Torchic cleanly KO Fire-resistant foes like Mareanie, Hisuian Growlithe, and Glimmet after Stealth Rock. A combination of Substitute + Protect allow Torchic to accrue multiple Speed boosts reliably, outspeeding the entire unboosted metagame. These two moves also help Torchic circumvent priority moves that would take it out. Many tanky Pokemon like Mienfoo, Mudbray, and Vullaby can survive a Fire Blast with their Eviolite intact, so Torchic greatly appreciates friends that can bait them in and hit them with Knock Off like Stunky, Mienfoo, and Vullaby. Every bit of damage counts with a do-or-die glass cannon like Torchic, so entry hazards make its life easier as a sweeper. As much as Torchic enjoys the opposing side being littered with entry hazards, its own weakness to Stealth Rock can greatly cut into its already-poor longevity, so removal options like Vullaby and Toedscool help facilitate it very well.
