Wingull @ Life Orb
Ability: Hydration
Level: 5
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 36 Def / 236 SpA / 236 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 19 HP
- Surf
- Hurricane
- Ice Beam
- Protect
If you have keen aim, enjoy rolling the dice, or if your name is Hacker, consider Wingull! Its STAB attacks and Ice Beam hit for neutral or super effective damage against nearly all of the metagame, leaving only a few safe switch-ins. When it connects with Hurricane, Wingull blows away its competition as a fast wallbreaker, OHKOing top-tier Pokemon like Mienfoo, Foongus, and even Shellder after Stealth Rock. Surf and Ice Beam cover other common threats, wiping out all relevant Ground- and Rock-type Pokemon. Protect blocks Mienfoo's Fake Out, providing Wingull longevity. Tera Dark shields Wingull from a Gothita revenge kill and resists Sucker Punch from Stunky and Diglett. Electric-type Pokemon like Chinchou, a rare Wingull switch-in, and Elekid, which outspeeds it, are extremely dangerous for Wingull teams. Thus, Wingull appreciates Electric-resistant or -immune partners like Mudbray, Chinchou, and Foongus. Alolan Diglett can sneak in on Electric-type attacks and threaten massive damage, making a great offensive core (although it is vulnerable to coverage moves). Meanwhile, Rapid Spin support from Toedscool provides much-needed relief from Stealth Rock chip damage.
