Description: Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokémon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokémon battling arena. In the centre of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Poké Ball centre). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about 4.5m wide & creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is 24m wide, 33m long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it is an outdoor arena with a large water source & packed dirt. Pokémon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying-type Pokémon, who cannot leave the arena & cannot fly higher than 18m). This prevents Pokémon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokémon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Dogfish takes an interesting tact using the basically one hit wonder Doduo first up when it sits as his best (and perhaps only) answer to Cacnea. Birkal answers with perhaps his most disposable Pokemon and Doduo and Hippopotas basically fight a draw. A draw which could have been a win if Birkal had remembered Sand Tomb was ground typed. Nevertheless Doduo has pulled its usually Knock Off trick and standings are reasonably evenly poised for the moment.

Birkal takes a quick break from his honeymoon (I think) to pop in and take a few calculated risks on the way to perfectly KOing that very same Doduo who had spent the prior three rounds giving Dogfish's opponents the shits. Hippopotas proceeds to make it through the four or five rounds that could have boned it with flying colours and one big Rock Slide proceeds to knock Doduo clean out of this match. Of course Hippopotas is now a sitting duck but he has importantly taken out pretty much the only Pokemon that could have dealt with Cacnea. Plus providing nothing disatrous happens next round Birkal can order with a fresh mon soon and turn order back on his side. But thats a bit of a big if with a Mime Jr waiting around

And here we have a quick lesson on why its not the best idea to go into a round under cooldown. Those Stealth Rocks from Dogfish should negate any lead Birkal had built up so far. That's not to say Cacnea can't make that back pretty quickly though, unless Birkal has a wild card to play.

Cacnea gets its first real run here in LCT and it doesn't disappoint. Mime Jr. has been Dogfish's ace up until now and Cacnea matches it blow for blow with little trouble. Both mons take quite a beating as the after action effects perhaps play the biggest role, not in the least that Leech Seed. However Cacnea is now trapped in, within KO range and needing to order first. Birkal has to play this next round carefully. Also Trubbish is looking mighty sad from inside a PC somewhere.

Mime Jr. actually sticks around for a surprisingly short amount of time for a Mime Jr. Barely reaching into its bag of tricks at all it finds itself unable to overcome the healing power of Cacnea's Leech Seed + Giga Drain combination, but is able to get a couple of solid hits in before going down. Time to see if Phanpy can use second order on a severely slowed Cacnea to finish it off and keep a lead for Dogfish going into the final match up, becasue even one hit from Cacnea could put a very sizeable dent in the little elephant.
