I decided to make a team with lead ttar due to my inexperience using it. The common thought of the GSC lead metagame is that it is RPS between Cloyster, Snorlax, and the electrics; Tyranitar beats all of them. Rock slides 2HKOs Zapdos, Dynamic punch 3HKOs Snorlax, thunderbolt 2HKOs Cloyster, Earthquake 2HKOs Raikou. Tyranitar using thunderbolt on Cloyster guarantees that it can't get up spikes and kill Tyranitar unless it gets a turn 1 high roll critical hit. Outside of the early game, ttar is still a threat outside of the leads especially with Skarmory, and Blissey. It can also use dynamic punch and rock slide in the late game on paralyzed opponents for paraflinch and parafusion. outside of the main leads, Tyranitar can still threaten Jolteon with a 2hko, but its poor matchups are the sleep leads. So who is the best Pokémon to deal with them?

Heracross easily switching into whatever lead Nidoking does, even the rare fire blast, should be pretty obvious, but how does it deal with the Exeggutor and jynx two Pokémon that threaten it with a super effective psychic? well most players will see the dark type Tyranitar think "psychic does 0 damage I should click another move instead." So Exeggutor will click sleep powder or giga drain and then switch out of a potential Megahorn, while the worst think that happens to jynx is that it gets a free sub and I will have to pivot until I have a good enough position. Heracross can also absorb smeargle sleep. Outside of sleep absorption Heracross is also really good at switching in to physical attacks from Marowak to Nidoking to Steelix to Machamp. I originally had curse Heracross but In practice it was only using curse boosts to take less damage and seismic toss ended up being more effective to deal with the non ghost bug resists that Heracross would take hits from or would switch into Heracross.

I didn't use Smeargle because Im not leading with it and I didn't chose Forretress because of its slower speed and weaker strength. Cloyster is the only pokemon using toxic on my paralysis focused team in part due to the Starmie and Snorlax matchups, the cloyster mirror (toxic'd Cloyster means it's on a timer which means I can spin more), and I don't care for its other potential options. I guess clamp could be good but I don't really care. Who is reading the Cloyster section anyway everyone knows what it does.

While I thought about using Raikou for a better Vaporeon and Jynx matchup, I ultimately settled on Zapdos due to the ground immunity and higher special attack (I fought multiple hp flying Marowak) I picked thunder over thunderbolt due to its higher damage and paralysis rate which helps supports snorlax and tyranitar, I picked hp ice over hp water for exeggutor, And I made it RestTalk so it can take sleep from pokemon when heracross can't and for better longevity. Zapdos is the only pure special attacker on my team so it will frequently force special walls in and then switch out to Pokémons such as...

Snorlax is using body slam, curse, earthquake, and rest. Body slam is used over double edge and return due to its paralysis rate which not only helps support the other physical attackers on my team, but it also helps itself while using curse. Curse makes itself stronger and to strengthens its defenses. Earthquake hits Tyranitar, Golem, Steelix, Gengar and Rhydon for super effective damage and Misdreavus and Forretress for neutral damage. Snorlax is using rest without sleep talk so it can fit all of its moves in a move set but also because it isn't the exclusive thunder switch in because of...

Looking at Donphan it is very easy to see the similarities to the other ground type rapid spinner in ou, golem; Donphan using roar makes the similarities more apparent but Donphan's pure ground typing does enough to separate it from the rock/ ground golem as I already have a rock type on my team being Tyranitar.
Rapid spin gets rid of spikes which helps Heracross Snorlax and Tyranitar switching into moves. Earthquake helps with spinning as it OHKOs Gengar and is also just a great stab move to use. roar is used to phaze Snorlax out as my Tyranitar is lacking it. A common play when an enemy Snorlax switches in is to thunder it with Zapdos or dynamic punch it with Tyranitar and than switch to Donphan and use roar. Body slam might seem like a weird last move to use on Donphan as it is not mentioned in the analysis, but it helps paralyze the flying types that switch in which allows snorlax and especially tyranitar have an easier time dealing with it. the analysis mentions toxic and hp rock in the roar set but I didn't use hp rock because I wanted the extra bulk and I believe that potential paralysis is more important than the extra damage and it should be obvious why I didn't chose toxic.
