Hello sports fans! It's a me, Maxim, live from the Wyndon Charity Fair! All across this yearly festival, the fairgoers find thrills on carnival rides and lap up tasty fried foods in an effort to support various charities across the Galar region. And this year, the BBP League has sponsored one of their League Circuits, not only to show the skill of their combatants, but also to show off the talents of some popular but less competitively fluent Pokemon! How will our battlers take these Pokemon to greater heights?

    • As the bustle of the city is at its maximum this season, you have been tasked to entertain the crowds going to the charity fair. Children in particular want to see their favorites battle, but they might not necessarily be of the same power level as the Pokemon in your usual teams...
  • Each player must choose exactly one of the below Pokemon to be their Underdog.

  • Each player may include 1 purchaseable item they do not own in their Backpack.

Profile:
Noota doesn't have very good vision, and she can be a bit silly at times. However, she always means well. Noota enjoys eating just about anything, but she does particularly enjoy things with strong flavors like lemons or blue cheese. Noota likes hugging people and she also likes being hugged, but just mind the whiskers!

How They Met:
As a Gulpin, Noota used to live under the Seaside Cycling Road in Hoenn where she would eat scraps and just about anything that fell from the bridge up above. While Doduodrio was traveling through the area with Sheldon (who was still a Slowpoke at the time), Noota smelled the tasty scent of Sheldon's tail and decided to follow it. Unfortunately, Slowpoke can't evolve if a Gulpin chomps down on its tail, but Noota was still welcome onto the team nonetheless.

From "Gulpinoota", the name of my Gulpin from my first Pokemon Ruby game.

Profile as a Bisharp:
Rook is overly cautious and trusts nobody because of past experiences. He's more of a strong and silent type. Rook has a dangerous obsession with sharpening his blades and is always hungry for a fight. Doduodrio hopes to get through to him somehow.

Changes Upon Evolving:
After a lot of hunting, Rook managed to pin down the location of the Bisharp that took over his pack. Then, they engaged in a fierce clash of whirling blades that resulted in the defeat of the rogue Bisharp. Rook took the Bisharp's Leader Crest as a trophy which caused him to evolve into a Kingambit! As a Kingambit, the addition of long hair has made it more difficult to move, but Rook is now physically a lot stronger to compensate for the lost Speed. His appearance is more formidable, commanding the respect of those who see him-- a huge improvement from when he was initially defeated.

How They Met:
Once, Rook was undefeated and led his own pack of Pawniard. Until one of them evolved into a Bisharp and challenged his leadership. And defeated him, driving him out of the pack. In doing so, his pride was damaged, maybe irreparably so, so when Doduodrio stumbled upon him, he immediately challenged him to a battle. As Rook was still hurt from his duel with the other Bisharp, he lost easily and was caught.

Name Origins:
"Rook" is the name of a chess piece. Fairly straightforward name.

Profile:
Butter is super sweet and friendly, loving to hug everyone she meets! She likes sweet potatoes, pie (with butter of course), and marshmallows. Not the healthiest, but it somehow doesn't seem to interfere with her battling ability.

How They Met:
Julie the Togekiss and Node the Plasmanta were Butter's friends from the nursery where she was hatched and raised. Being around so many friends makes her super happy, so she wanted to stay with them!

Name Origins:
I wanted a name that oozed friendly vibes and I definitely wasn't craving food with butter so Butter was a perfect match!

Profile:
Ursaring rarely evolve into Ursaluna in the modern era, as the conditions required are both extremely specific and also exceedingly rare; Ursaring evolution is driven by a combination of peat and the light of the full Moon (a power Dora says is a gift from the gods). Only a few Ursaring whose rings shine brightly enough will be able to evolve. This is why Dora prides herself on her great physical strength, tenacity, and imposing stature. Dora holds Oona the Clefable in high regard, as Oona is a being from the Moon who also helped her unlock her true power and potential.

How They Met:
Due to a recent wildfire, Dora (as an Ursaring) was forced down from her mountain home, and she began to wander the city where Doduodrio lived in search for a new place to stay temporarily. She stumbled upon Oona who immediately recognized her as an exceptionally powerful Ursaring who had the potential to evolve. Taking Dora in, Oona brought her the rare Peat Block required for evolution and made sure to get the conditions just right. In less than a month, the full moon finally arrived, and Dora was able to evolve into Ursaluna!

Name Origins:
The suffix -dora can be seen in Pandora which can be translated as "all-giving," derived from the Greek doron meaning gift. Apparently, Pandora is sometimes associated with Gaia, the earth mother goddess in Greek mythology, as she is sometimes depicted rising out of the earth.

Gilgamesh is in a constant state of meditation and zen, with the help of Julie, in order to keep his inner rage from bursting out and causing him to go on a rampage. As a Wimpod, Gilgamesh was (understandably) terrified of everything. He was also often picked on because of how weak he was. So, when he finally evolved into a Golisopod, the extreme change caused him to then be angry at everything around him and to want to take revenge on those that hurt him in the past.

How They Met:
Gilgamesh would have lashed out and hurt many innocent Pokemon if it weren't for Julie who intervened and then taught him about mindfulness and meditation. She helped him find peace, and Gilgamesh is a lot happier now than he was when he first evolved.

Name Origins:
Gilgamesh was a legendary hero in Mesopotamian mythology. I liked the name and it felt like it was quite fitting for a super strong armored bug.

Welcome folks to the start of this exciting match! Keriel has sent out Harbinger of the Last Wish the Jirachi (please don't try to say that three times fast), while Doduodrio has sent out Noota the Swalot. This doesn't look like the greatest matchup for Duo, but we will see what he has planned.

Jirachi opens up the match by launching into Swalot with a powerful Zen Headbutt, with Swalot bouncing back in pain. Swalot launches a Thunder Wave to try to paralyze the Jirachi, but the aim is off and it hits a nearby metal pole. Jirachi launches another Zen Headbutt, and Swalot is looking decently hurt now. Swalot, desperate to land a paralysis effect on the Jirachi, launches another Thunder Wave, but unbelievably it lands wide again, giving a jolt to a Ducklett flying overhead.

Round 2:

Welcome back to this exciting match folks! Duo has decided that Swalot was not pulling their weight in the Jirachi matchup (shocker) and has sent in Rook the Kingambit to face down the Jirachi.

Jirachi is not interested in fighting Kingambit in a straight slugfest, and leaps behind a carnival stand with a lot of flashing lights. As Kingambit looks for the Jirachi, Jirachi uses the lights to his advantage, to send a Confuse Ray that leaves Kingambit befuddled. Kingambit decides to lay some Stealth Rocks around the arena to try to catch the Jirachi, or anyone else who steps in the field for Keriel.

Then Jirachi, not wanting to eat Stealth Rocks, comes back into the arena before they fully set up. Having disrupted Kingambit to the best of their ability, Jirachi launches an Aura Sphere, hitting right where it hurts! However, Kingambit was waiting for this moment, as he cashes in his Weakness Policy for buffs, before throwing himself at Jirachi with all his might! The hit deals immense damage and boosts Kingambit's attack stage even higher, but his confusion made him slam a little too hard into the ground, and he finds his head blade stuck in the ground! Jirachi attacks with another Aura Sphere, blasting Kingambit and unsticking him from the floor. Kingambit takes another swing at Jirachi, landing a ferocious blow, but one that ends with his head slamming into a nearby post!

This round has had some serious damage going back and forth, but both Pokemon are still standing, if only just. What will happen next round? Stay tuned to find out!
