Legendary wind RMT, 15th on Smogon

Hey everyone, this is my second RMT of one of the best teams I´ve ever had.
This team was created by Fu Wind Destiny and I, when I tried it on the ladder
I was astonished about how good it was, however, I know you can make it better.

As far as ladder ranking goes, I peaked at 15th with my account “legendary wind”
(In honor of Fu), but later, for some reason I can´t explain I suddenly started a
losing streak, I tried to recover but I couldn’t, I want to change this so here
it goes:
Team Building:
I really liked a Lucario set made by Fu, and decided to build a team with him.

I knew that a scarfed revenge killer is essential in offensive teams like mine so
I decided to use Jirachi, he could revenge kill Salamence, Tyranitar, Gyarados,
Latias etc.…

The next step was a lead; I was tired of standard leads like Metagross and Swampert,
I just didn´t liked them. While I was searching on Smogon for Pokémon that are able
to set up Stealth Rock, that is bulky, and that is not slow, Celebi was the perfect choice.

I noticed I had 3 Pokémon weak to Fire, so resistances were needed, Kingdra was
a good choice for me, since he can come in any Fire attack, most are Choiced so it was
even better.

Even with Kingdra, I needed more Fire resistance, preferable special,
Latias was an awesome Pokémon, since she can check a lot of Pokémon but hit very hard too.
Without her I would be very Infernape weak, especially the SD or NP sets.

For the finishing touch, I needed a Pokémon that helped to break stall, beat Blissey and be bulky all in one. Machamp was a great choice for my team; he can counter non-bounce Gyarados and prevent him and Salamence from gaining more DD´s.

100px-251Celebi.png

Leaf (Celebi) @ Occa Berry
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 80 HP/176 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Leaf Storm
- Earth Power
---
This is without doubt, the best lead I´ve ever used.
This Celebi wins against most of today´s leads. Unlike Azelf, Celebi
is bulky, which allows him to surive any attack other common leads have.
With Occa Berry Heatran can only manage to do 54.29%-64.27% with
Fire Blast and 63.43-74.79% with Overheat, meaning his only chances
to kill him is through Specs Overheat, but it gets out sped and KOed.
Metagross is 2HKOed by Earth Power and he can´t KO back, barring
explosion.

Swampert, Hippodown, and even Mamoswine fail to this awesome lead.
Celebi suffers against Focus Sash leads so U-turn can help breaking
them and send in a counter. Another prop, if you already managed to
get Stealth Rock Leaf Storm and U-turn beats his counters steadily.
For example, a 248 Hp Ev Scizor (the standard for the Choice Band set)
comes in a Leaf Storm with Stealth Rock up,you deal 18.08% on average,
that means he will lose 30% of its health while you U-turn to a counter
for even more damage.

The Speed Evs allows it to outspeed neutral base 100 and the Hp Evs
to survive U-turns from Jirachi, Flygon and anything under 120 base
attack, the rest in Special Attack for max damage.

150px-380Latias.png

Latias (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Surf
-Trick
---
Latias is such a great Pokémon, good typing, good stats, and good move pool, which is ideal for a sweeper. Draco Meteor is to break walls, and only Steel resists it, most of them can´t take more than a pair of this attack. Dragon Pulse is for late game and when I need to kill something without risking imperfect accuracy. Surf offers great coverage with Dragon Pulse, and 2HKO´s her two most common counters, Scizor and Tyranitar. Finally, Trick is for walls, Crocune, and anything like that, it is very helpful against Blissey and Cresselia.

150px-448Lucario.PNG

Hero (Lucario) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Aura Sphere
- Shadow Ball
- Vacuum Wave
- Close Combat
---
This is Fu´s set I mentioned earlier, this set surprises a lot of his counters which have lower SpD
Usually when my opponent sees that I use Aura Sphere and Shadow Ball, they assume I am purely special and they send their Blissey or Snorlax, wrong. With a Modest Nature and 4 Atk Evs I always OHKO the standard Wish Bliss without Stealth Rock and deal 84.91% damage on average to Snorlax. Vaccum Wave is very helpful vs. Agility Empoleon, which has to activate Torrent to attempt to sweep me, a very useful team member overall.

150px-385Jirachi.png

DoomDesire (Jirachi) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- U-turn
---
If I lose Jirachi early, winning the game will become much more difficult. I chose Jolly to at least tie with Jolly Salamence and Jolly Flygon, he can check so many things and with Serene Grace, the chances of incapacitating a counter are infinite. I´ve been thinking in using a secondary STAB over U-turn, but I am not sure; maybe you can help me out with this.

130px-230Kingdra.png

Kingdra (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk/6 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Waterfall
- Outrage
---
This is not the kind of Pokemon that can come in and cause terror right away, no, actually he can come in Choiced moves and start setting up, if I know my opponent has a status move but cant break my sub, I immediately switch him in. Examples are Vaporeon, some Celebi, and Porygon2 etc.
He can check Infernape and also can take a plus 1 Earthquake or Stone Edge from Gyarados if necessary. Another good thing is that Jolly Jirachi can’t break my sub so he is a safe switch, and even has Lum Berry for freeze or paralyze. His ability is a doubt to me,
the chances of getting a crit are about the same of battling a Rain Dance team.

068Machamp.png

Machamp (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EVs: 216 HP/252 Atk/40 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Payback
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- Close Combat
---
Guts Machamp is much unexpected; so many things like Rotom´s Will-o-wisp just make me stronger. He is very bulky and can usually take a hit and KO back, with this I mean he can beat most Pokemon one on one, which is very appreciated. The best of this set is that it´s very hard to wall, especially after Guts boost. When building this team with Fu, we decided that Leftovers is the best item for us, if we used Choice Band, he would be too predictable, with LO, he will die too easily and so on.

Well, this is my RMT, thanks for reading, oh another thing, help with nicknames would be appreciated, but the most important “Rate my Team”!!

btw... If someone can help me explaining me how to post pics please do it.

Honduras rocks!!

Hey, just scanning through the team and saw the last line. So, to post pics write

In between them, paste a link to the image you want to use. That should work fine.

Sorry to make such a short post but you should really use a +SpAtk -SpDef nature on that Lucario (iirc its Naughty but im not 100% sure). Why would you use Close Combat as a move and then lower your Atk? Close Combat is the best move Lucario has, you should never ever ever lower its Atk.

Naughty is Atk, Rash is SpA version.

thx

Thanks, that helped me a lot.

Lucario is a Special attacker, Close Combat´s only use is Blissey and Snorlax.

Heya Legend, as I've told you before, this is a great team. There are a few small changes I'm going to suggest.

The first is No Guard on Machamp, for pretty obvious reasons. I've told you this many times, lol. Why not standard RestTalk? He doesn't mind a WoW from Rotom-a either...

Also, I suggest Fire Punch on Jirachi since Scizor is a pain for this team (Latias and Celebi, especially). Use this over Ice Punch, since Iron Head is usually enough to revenge Salamence - 299 Atk vs 196 Def & 331 HP (80 Base Power): 132 - 156 (39.88% - 47.13%) - a guaranteed 2HKO with Stealth Rocks.

Good luck!

lucario could drop one of the fighting type moves for coverage, as well, i'd give some1 stone edge for those zapdos'/ dancing mences.

Team looks solid. On Latias I'd switch dragon pulse for psychic for extra coverage. And as integral1993 was saying, 3 fighting moves on Lucario is a waste. If you plan on switching something for stone edge, I'd suggest adding a few atk EVs to your lucario and then switching aura sphere for stone edge.

I would prefer something in place of aura sphere on Lucario. I think this would do a lot better if it were more of a mixed sweepr. You could try changing the EVs up a bit. Invest just enough in SAtk to get the needed 1 and 2HKOs. The rest can go into attack to maximize the damage of CC. Rash is the prefered nature. Even though your only targets are Blissey and Snorlax, that extra SDef isn't really of any use and rash will let you deal more damage to Bold Blissey as well as Snorlax.

The other thing is Machamps set. I would much rather prefer Rest talk Machamp. You don't have a status absorber on your team. Although they aren't required, I really can't see any pokemon on your team that would take the sleep. As far as countering pokemon go, Lucario does the least so he would be the best poke to take the sleep, but Brellom and Roserade are the most common users of sleep moves. Breloom can OHKO Lucario while Roserade often packs HP Fire making it risky to send him in. Thunderwave also seems like it can cause problems for this team and Machamp wouldn't enjoy being paralyzed even though he gets the guts boost. Every other member on your team seems to fill a very important role and if they aren't present or are paralyzed/burned you become weak to major threats. I think that is enough reason to run the rest talk set. With Dynamic Punch and Payback, he will be able to deal damage to practically every pokemon. Dynamic Punch has that nice confuse rate which is always helpful. Payback lets you hit the deadly Rotom-A that attemtp to take Dynamich Punch though you could test with Stone Edge since Rest will prevent them from doing much harm to you. It will also give you a better way to hit Flyers such as Zapdos and Gyarados.

Aside from that, the team seems really good.

Yeah. Seriously, I'd drop Aura Sphere on Luke for something that gives you good coverage. Otherwise, a crapload of Pokemon can come in on your Lucario and destroy it by outspeeding and taking advantage of LO recoil. HP Rock or Ice would work because it hits the Flying types/Latias harder than your other attacks.

Why would you have lucario with a -atk nature with a physical close combat? Even if it is just for blissey and snorlax you should at least go -sdef... Why would you want to lower the power of your best attack for no reason.
Also, why does lucario have 3 fighting type moves? That is a little overboard imo.
I would use fire punch on jirachi over tpunch/icepunch on jirachi for scizors etc.
And I would try restalk machamp, he takes will-o-wisps, etc just as easy, and no guard dynamic punch is just too good to pass up for close combat imo.

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the rates, most have been for Lucario, and now that I see it, I really have 3 fighting moves. I was planning on changing vacuum wave or Close Combat for Hidder Power Rock for Gyarados ,Salamence, and Zapdos;or even changing Lucario for that matter.
I am currently testing this set for Jirachi: Iron Head, ThunderPunch, Zen Headbutt, and Fire Punch.
I will test No Guard Machamp too, thanks for the rates and I hope they keep coming.

There is nothing wrong with Guts Machamp, put Sleep Talk on him an he's a great status absorber, with a damage boost from the status, and if he get's burned/poison ( besides toxic ) it's like his own Life Orb that only does 6% damage because of Leftovers ( and it's more powerful, 1.5x boost ftw.) Toxic it's kinda like the same thing, but he dies faster :o
