Legendary wind RMT, 15th on Smogon
Hey everyone, this is my second RMT of one of the best teams I´ve ever had.
This team was created by Fu Wind Destiny and I, when I tried it on the ladder
I was astonished about how good it was, however, I know you can make it better.
As far as ladder ranking goes, I peaked at 15th with my account “legendary wind”
(In honor of Fu), but later, for some reason I can´t explain I suddenly started a
losing streak, I tried to recover but I couldn’t, I want to change this so here
it goes:
Team Building:
I really liked a Lucario set made by Fu, and decided to build a team with him.
I knew that a scarfed revenge killer is essential in offensive teams like mine so
I decided to use Jirachi, he could revenge kill Salamence, Tyranitar, Gyarados,
Latias etc.…
The next step was a lead; I was tired of standard leads like Metagross and Swampert,
I just didn´t liked them. While I was searching on Smogon for Pokémon that are able
to set up Stealth Rock, that is bulky, and that is not slow, Celebi was the perfect choice.
I noticed I had 3 Pokémon weak to Fire, so resistances were needed, Kingdra was
a good choice for me, since he can come in any Fire attack, most are Choiced so it was
even better.
Even with Kingdra, I needed more Fire resistance, preferable special,
Latias was an awesome Pokémon, since she can check a lot of Pokémon but hit very hard too.
Without her I would be very Infernape weak, especially the SD or NP sets.
For the finishing touch, I needed a Pokémon that helped to break stall, beat Blissey and be bulky all in one. Machamp was a great choice for my team; he can counter non-bounce Gyarados and prevent him and Salamence from gaining more DD´s.
Leaf (Celebi) @ Occa Berry
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 80 HP/176 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Leaf Storm
- Earth Power
---
This is without doubt, the best lead I´ve ever used.
This Celebi wins against most of today´s leads. Unlike Azelf, Celebi
is bulky, which allows him to surive any attack other common leads have.
With Occa Berry Heatran can only manage to do 54.29%-64.27% with
Fire Blast and 63.43-74.79% with Overheat, meaning his only chances
to kill him is through Specs Overheat, but it gets out sped and KOed.
Metagross is 2HKOed by Earth Power and he can´t KO back, barring
explosion.
Swampert, Hippodown, and even Mamoswine fail to this awesome lead.
Celebi suffers against Focus Sash leads so U-turn can help breaking
them and send in a counter. Another prop, if you already managed to
get Stealth Rock Leaf Storm and U-turn beats his counters steadily.
For example, a 248 Hp Ev Scizor (the standard for the Choice Band set)
comes in a Leaf Storm with Stealth Rock up,you deal 18.08% on average,
that means he will lose 30% of its health while you U-turn to a counter
for even more damage.
The Speed Evs allows it to outspeed neutral base 100 and the Hp Evs
to survive U-turns from Jirachi, Flygon and anything under 120 base
attack, the rest in Special Attack for max damage.
Latias (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Surf
-Trick
---
Latias is such a great Pokémon, good typing, good stats, and good move pool, which is ideal for a sweeper. Draco Meteor is to break walls, and only Steel resists it, most of them can´t take more than a pair of this attack. Dragon Pulse is for late game and when I need to kill something without risking imperfect accuracy. Surf offers great coverage with Dragon Pulse, and 2HKO´s her two most common counters, Scizor and Tyranitar. Finally, Trick is for walls, Crocune, and anything like that, it is very helpful against Blissey and Cresselia.
Hero (Lucario) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Aura Sphere
- Shadow Ball
- Vacuum Wave
- Close Combat
---
This is Fu´s set I mentioned earlier, this set surprises a lot of his counters which have lower SpD
Usually when my opponent sees that I use Aura Sphere and Shadow Ball, they assume I am purely special and they send their Blissey or Snorlax, wrong. With a Modest Nature and 4 Atk Evs I always OHKO the standard Wish Bliss without Stealth Rock and deal 84.91% damage on average to Snorlax. Vaccum Wave is very helpful vs. Agility Empoleon, which has to activate Torrent to attempt to sweep me, a very useful team member overall.
DoomDesire (Jirachi) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- U-turn
---
If I lose Jirachi early, winning the game will become much more difficult. I chose Jolly to at least tie with Jolly Salamence and Jolly Flygon, he can check so many things and with Serene Grace, the chances of incapacitating a counter are infinite. I´ve been thinking in using a secondary STAB over U-turn, but I am not sure; maybe you can help me out with this.
Kingdra (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk/6 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Waterfall
- Outrage
---
This is not the kind of Pokemon that can come in and cause terror right away, no, actually he can come in Choiced moves and start setting up, if I know my opponent has a status move but cant break my sub, I immediately switch him in. Examples are Vaporeon, some Celebi, and Porygon2 etc.
He can check Infernape and also can take a plus 1 Earthquake or Stone Edge from Gyarados if necessary. Another good thing is that Jolly Jirachi can’t break my sub so he is a safe switch, and even has Lum Berry for freeze or paralyze. His ability is a doubt to me,
the chances of getting a crit are about the same of battling a Rain Dance team.
Machamp (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EVs: 216 HP/252 Atk/40 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Payback
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- Close Combat
---
Guts Machamp is much unexpected; so many things like Rotom´s Will-o-wisp just make me stronger. He is very bulky and can usually take a hit and KO back, with this I mean he can beat most Pokemon one on one, which is very appreciated. The best of this set is that it´s very hard to wall, especially after Guts boost. When building this team with Fu, we decided that Leftovers is the best item for us, if we used Choice Band, he would be too predictable, with LO, he will die too easily and so on.
Well, this is my RMT, thanks for reading, oh another thing, help with nicknames would be appreciated, but the most important “Rate my Team”!!
btw... If someone can help me explaining me how to post pics please do it.
Honduras rocks!!
