SV OU Let's pivot! Looking for feedback for my offense team

Introduction

Hey guys, this is my first time sharing a team I've built. I've had a lot of success with it at low ladder, but as my rank increased I started struggling way more. Looking foward to read your feedback!
I really wanted to try using scizor :scizor: since I never used him in any teams in this gen. I tried to make sort of a "speedy offense pivoting team" (feel free to correct me in this).

Team building thought process

:scizor: Of course was the main reason I built this team. I really wanted to use it with a choice band set that could one shot fairy pokemon with priority.

:scizor: - :meowscarada: I chose to use meowscarada since I wanted to have a speedy uturn user to pivot around and also threaten :gliscor: and dark type leads

:scizor: - :meowscarada: - :skarmory: I figured since I was running a lot of knock offs and pivoting, my team could use a strong physdef tank that could set up spikes

:scizor: - :meowscarada: - :skarmory: - :heatran: While deciding on a spdef mon, I realized my whole team so far was weak to fire. :heatran: was a natural option. While it can set rocks, its immune to fire damage and can also pack a punch.

:scizor: - :meowscarada: - :skarmory: - :heatran: - :dragapult: I needed someone to spinblock as well as a strong special attacker that could fit into my heavy pivoting strategy. So I decided to go with this guy. Also imune to fighting which is pretty nice considering my team.

:scizor: - :meowscarada: - :skarmory: - :heatran: - :dragapult: - :gliscor: The last slot was a little harder to fill, but once I realized I needed a electric and ground immunity, gliscor was a no brainer. I chosed him over landorous because I wanted a mon that could do a late game sweep just in case. Although gliscor is not the best pokemon to sweep with, I found this particular set a lot of fun and surprised a lot of oponents.

Sets and roles

212-0.png

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 76 HP / 252 Atk / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Close Combat

For Scizor, I decided to use this choice band set. Bullet punch being my go to attack to deal with mons like :grimmsnarl: :iron-valiant: and :kyurem:. Technician and Tera steel makes this move hit really hard.
U-turn also hits really hard on this set and provides some invaluable pivoting.
Knock off to hit :dragapult: G-:slowking: and :gholdengo: . Also pretty valuable considering that I have lots of hazards.
Close Combat for obvious :kingambit: reasons

I went with adamant 252 atk for max damage, 180 speed to outspeed neutral :great-tusk: and :kingambit:. Then dumped the remaining points in HP.

908-0.png

Meowscarada @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flower Trick
- U-turn
- Triple Axel
- Knock Off

:meowscarada: is one of my leads and pivots. It has great coverage and can hit pretty hard.
Here I chose to run boots since :meowscarada: pivots in and out all the time. Pretty standard set, Jolly with full atk and speed investment to hit hard and fast.
Flower trick is really good to deal with bulk up and curse pokemon. U-turn for pivoting (also hits very hard). Triple Axel is a move that I click quite a lot to deal with flying/ground types. Knock off to take boots off most pokemon. I opted for tera grass to further enhance flower trick.

227-0.png

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Roost

:skarmory: is one of my favorite pokemon of all time, and a much needed switch in to deal with physical attackers.
I decided to run Rocky Helmet to punish u-turns and any kind of contact move really.
Impish nature with full pdef and hp investment to be as bulky as possible. I ran a very standard spikes set with iron defense and body press. Roost for obvious reasons.
Skarmory actually has been one of my main win conditions, whenever they don't have a mon that threatens it, it's very easy to set up and sweep. Although thats quite obvious since its a pretty common set. Very annoying to deal with ghost types tho. Tera water is for defensive reasons, mostly to deal with fire attacks. It's really hard to deal with eletric physical attacks, although not very common

485-0.png

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Will-O-Wisp
- Earth Power
- Magma Storm

:heatran: is my spdef mon of choise. Calm nature with full spd and hp investment to tank as much as possible.
It's Flash Fire ability is very much welcome since most of my team is weak to fire. I decided to run leftovers over air balloon to increase its longevity, but sometimes risky if the oponent runs earth power or tera blast ground. I'm not having that much trouble with ground attacks to be honest. The real nuissance being :walking-wake:, thats why I chose grass for the tera type, but it's still very hard to switch into it.
Rocks for the overall theme of the team, magma storm and earth power for damage and will-o-wisp to cripple physical attackers that might switch into it. Although I feel I'm not clicking it enough to justify it.

Dragapult @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hex
- Draco Meteor
- Thunder Wave
- U-turn

:dragapult: Is key to this team. Normal and fighting immunity, being able to spinblock. I'm using boots since it comes in and out all the time as well. Infiltrator to deal with substitute. I'm using Timid nature with full spa and and speed investment to outspeed most of the metagame and at least tie with opposing dragapults. Tera ghost to further enhance its damage and sometimes get rid of the fairy weakness.
I decided to run this Twave hex set cuz I felt it would be more useful than shadow ball, although sometimes can be quite a drag not having the imediate power. Twave over wisp since heatran runs it.
Draco over Darts for the more imediate satk power(not so sure about this yet). U-turn for fast pivoting.

472-0.png

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Facade
- Protect

The GOAT. I actually hate this guy, but this set is very fun to play. Instead of the regular bulky version, I decided to run this fast and hard hitting facade version. Many games I just switch it in front of opposing :gliscor: and set up in front of them. Tera normal and facade his whole team. This speedy :gliscor: surprisingly outspeed many pokemon in the metagame.
It's been my main wincon in most games.

Final Thoughts

I'm a low rank player and this is the first time that a team that I made has some sort of success. The first 20 matches I went something like 16-4 w/l but once I reached about 1400-1500 elo I started having some problems. This is most likely because I'm simply bad at the game but I'm pretty sure that you guys can give me some valuable insight in this team, so I can improve at team building in the future.

The matchups I had the most problem with were sun teams with :walking-wake: and H.O teams with :glimmora: that simply overwhelmed me too fast.

EDIT
After some feedback and testing I decided to run this scizor set instead

Scizor @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 76 HP / 252 Atk / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Close Combat

First time seen a team using Scizor, like it a lot! Your team doesn't have hazard control which is a big problem in Gen 9.(for me at least) Replace Skarmory with Great Tusk.

Great Tusk @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Ice Spinner
- Headlong Rush
- Rapid Spin

The most common set I think. Tera Ice is a strong choice for an offensive Tera type that provides Great Tusk with STAB on Ice Spinner, which can net OHKOs on Gliscor and offensive Zapdos after a boost from Bulk Up.

Great Tusk @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin

If u want hazard, use this set. Now Heatran can run Protect to get extra recovery. Use EQ instead of Headlong Rush bc of the Def drop. Ice Spinner over Knock Off since u have two Knock Off user on ur team. 36 speed EV allow u out speed Kinganbit.

Great Tusk @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Temper Flare
- Ice Spinner
- Headlong Rush
- Rapid Spin

My fav set. Temper Flare can be used over this to ease prediction against Air Balloon Gholdengo. If it attempts to block Rapid Spin, Temper Flare's power doubles next turn, enabling Great Tusk to OHKO it. Or having a chance to OHKO Corviknight after hazard chip which is ur team having hard time to deal with.

Thanks for the suggestion! Skarmory is been such a clutch pokemon in this team, and since I'm running HDB in a few pokemons I'm not really feeling the need for it. I might try it if hazads start beeing more of an inssue, but thanks anyway!

Thanks a lot! I'm not really sure on what you meanregarding scizor and gliscor, can you elaborate?

I absolutely love scizor I’ll definitely try the team out and give any feedback I have

Thx! Let me know if something comes up!

I got some advise from pinkacross and now I'm running HDB in scizor as well, working fine so far!

Thx for your feedback guys

Can you post the updated team? Would be interested in trying!

I am not a great player but I am having a lot of fun with this team, a nice W/L record as well, 8-1 now i think. I do not think that Great Tusk or other hazard removal is needed due to the HDB spam, HDB on Scizor definitely seems like a good move!
