What's up Smogon, it's been a while since my last RMT and I've been testing out this team recently with mixed results. I wanted to try some new stuff and some uncommon stuff, and so far, this is what I got.
Donphan @Leftovers | Sturdy
Impish | 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Rapid Spin | Stealth Rock | Earthquake | Ice Shard
Donphan has always been one of my favorite Pokémon in OU, and was the first Poke on the team. His ability to set up rocks and spin away hazards, as well as a priority Ice-type move makes him an all-around great physical wall. With 372 Defense, he can take hits well and dish out STAB Earthquake to anything that isn't immune to it or hit stuff like Salamence or Dragonite with a quad-effective Ice Shard before they can get any damage in.
Gastrodon @Leftovers | Storm Drain
Calm | 252 HP/ 4 SpA/ 252 SpD
Toxic | Recover | Scald | Earth Power
Amoonguss was the first special wall I used for the team, mainly due to its ability to spread paralysis and put opponents to sleep and the fact that it has Regenerator. I found that nothing on the team could really take a good special Fire-type hit from something like Chandelure. Amoonguss also started to become dead weight, and so I started looking at other special walls. Gastrodon caught my eye; an immunity to Water-type attack, reliable recovery, and spreading Toxic was pretty great, along with reasonable Special Attack. It's been working pretty well so far, but I'm still not sure as to whether I want this or a Wish/Protect Blissey with Aromatherapy and Seismic Toss.
Meloetta @Leftovers | Serene Grace
Timid | 252 SpA/4 SpD/252 Spe
Calm Mind | Psyshock | Shadow Ball | Focus Blast
I chose Meloetta because it has great special stats and pretty good speed. The set is a Calm Mind one as opposed to a Scarfed set because I figured Meloetta, with only one Calm Mind, becomes a monstrous attacker. The moveset is pretty standard, and Serene Grace doesn't really help out, considering Psyshock has no secondary effect and the other two moves just get a 20% chance of a SpD drop, usually forcing the opposing Poke out anyway. Nonetheless, Meloetta has been working out fairly well so far and I plan on keeping it, although the set may change.
Thundurus-T @Choice Scarf | Volt Absorb
Timid | 252 SpA/4 SpD/252 Spe
Volt Switch | Thunderbolt | HP Ice | Focus Blast
Thundurus-T grants an immunity to Electric-type attacks, has great Special Attack, and a Choice Scarf makes it a huge threat to anything. Volt Switch grants switch initiative, Focus Blast hits stuff like Forretress and Ferrothorn, and HP Ice is to deal with the Dragons that run train in OU. Thunderbolt is in place of Thunder, even though it has the same accuracy as Focus Blast, because of the good accuracy and still good base power. Thundurus-T's main job is to punch holes in teams during the early and middle of the game.
Terrakion @Rock Gem | Justified
Jolly | 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Substitute | Swords Dance | Stone Edge | Close Combat
A Sub-SD set on Terrakion isn't really common, so most people switch out fearing an attack while I would set up a Sub or go +2 with Swords Dance. A Rock Gem-boosted Stone Edge, even without the +2, is monstrous, and hits basically everything hard. The dual-STAB is obligatory, and this set has been pretty good so far. Terrakion does the same job as Thundurus-T at times, mainly being switched in to hit something with a CC or Stone Edge and switch out, or even take Dark-type moves aimed at Meloetta.
Gyarados @Life Orb | Moxie
Jolly | 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Dragon Dance | Waterfall | Stone Edge | Earthquake
A DD Gyarados is absolutely wonderful. After one DD, Waterfall hits everything that doesn't resist it hard, and for things like Ferrothorn and Politoed that do, Earthquake and Stone Edge complete the set by allowing Gyarados to hit anything neutrally. It's a sweeping Gyarados, hence the Moxie, and the combination of this and Thundurus-T brings Gyaravire to a new level. Life Orb may wear it down, but the attack boost is necessary in order for Gyarados to clean up teams after the other pokes have punched enough holes.
Well, that's the team. The only type that gives my any trouble is Ice, hitting half my team super effectively, but thankfully, HP Ice, with its low base power, doesn't usually ruin my day. Ice Beam isn't as common, usually seen on Tyranitar, which isn't really a threat to the team.
