Hello Smogon!
I have been a fan of Pokémon for a while and always had an interest in completive Pokémon battling. Only recently I decided to take the plunge and did some matches on PS. After a while I realised that My sun team is the most effective team I have made. But now I have reach a block in Ideas. So I decided to get my team rated so I could get an idea on how to improve it. So, here is my probably crap team. Also life orb.
Ninetales
Item=Life orb
Ability=Drought
Moves:
-Fire Blast
-Solar Beam
-Nasty plot
-HP ground
Ev spread
252 Spa/252 Spe/4 hp
Timid nature
This poke is pretty much a requirement on sun teams. Ninetales isn’t just a sun setter however. As it swich into a resisted hit, set up a nasty plot or two and sweep with its decent speed Fire blast is its main move and hits for a lot in the sun. Solar beam provides strong coverage and Hp ground means that I can actually Kill heatran
Venusaur
Item=Life orb
Ability=Chlorophyll
Moves:
-Growth
-Solar Beam
-Hp Fire
-Sludge bomb
Ev spread
252 Spa/252 Spe/4 hp
Modest nature
Venusaur is one of the best chlorophyll users in the game. With a decent speed and good offences boosted to ridiculous heights with a single growth boost in the sun. It’s like a shell smash with no drawbacks (Aside from the speed bit relying of the sun) Solar beam is the main move and hits incredibly hard. Hp fire hits steel types and sludge bomb is a good secondary STAB.
Breloom
Item=Life orb
Ability=Technician
Moves:
-Spore
-Mach punch
-Bullet seed
-Swords dance
Ev spread
252 Atk/252 Spe/4 hp
Jolly nature
Breloom is a given on Sun teams lacking sunny day ninetales. His 2 STABS easily dispatch tyranitar and politoed winning me the weather war with little effort. Not saying that’s his only purpose however, he ties with scizor as the best priority user and has access to a reliable sleep move. Bullet seed also hits incredibly hard with technician and Swords dance just raises brelooms attack to rather high levels.
Hydreigon
Item=Life orb
Ability=Levitate
Moves:
-Dragon pulse
-Fire blast
-Focus blast
-Roost
Ev spread
252 Spa/252 Spe/4 hp
Timid nature
Hydreigon is a great cleaner and general attacker. He can switch into moves easily with a nice set of immunities and resistances and start attacking with his moves. Dragon pulse is a nice reliable STAB move, Fire blast is a powerful move in the sun and hits steel types bar heatran, focus blast hits heatran. And roost gives Hydreigon a bit more time to fight. I chose focus miss over superpower so that I could keep my defences up (and make the move more powerful).
Victini
Item=Life orb
Ability=Victory star
Moves:
-Vcreate
-Fusion bolt
-Brick break
-U turn
Ev spread
252 Atk/252 Spe/4 hp
Jolly nature
Victini is pretty much the star player on the team. Decent bulk, Good moves and one of the best moves in Pokémon makes him a poke that could kill half the opponent’s team. STAB V create in the sun is pretty much is a death sentence to anyone who doesn’t resist it. Fusion bolt is a great coverage move, 2HKOing many of the bulky water that try to switch in (PS doesn’t support Christmas victini yet, so no bolt strike) Brick break hits fighting types, heatran and gets rid of screens. U turn hits psychic types and does a bit of damage to slower pokes that could kill him.
Donphan
Item=Leftovers
Ability=Sturdy
Moves:
-Rapid spin
-Stealth rock
-Earthquake
-Knock off
Ev spread
252 Hp/252 Def/4 Atk
Impish nature
This guy is my support poke. He spins away hazards so Ninetales and victini can stay alive. He can also set up rocks to weaken the opponents. Earthquake is a decent and he can kill steel or fire types. And finally knock off can cripple pokemon like chansey and choice Pokémon.
So here’s the team. It isn’t bad, but I haven’t tried it enough to get a good list of threats because I’m never sure if my loss is due to my team or my skill. If you want some threats, Stall and rain teams give my team some trouble. Sorry if this RMT is lacklustre, I have looked at the guides, but I’m still not sure how to approach it.
