* Scizor uses its strong defensive typing and unique offensive profile to carve itself a role as a setup pokemon with Swords Dance.
* By using Life Orb over Choice Band, Scizor can gain important favorable matchups against Pecharunt, Chople Berry Hisuian Goodra, and non-Choice Band Metagross by using Swords Dance before attacking.
* Bullet Punch is the move to use against foes such as Iron Valiant, Pecharunt, Alolan Ninetales, and Sylveon.
* Bug Bite is a reliable STAB option, allowing Scizor to beat non-Fire Punch Hoopa-U, Meowscarada, non-Defense invested Ogerpon-W, and Cresselia.
* Close Combat is used to defeat Hisuian Goodra and non-Speed invested Ursaluna after a Swords Dance as well as Porygon-Z.
* If Scizor is looking to 2HKO the foe, it is generally better to use Swords Dance and then attack rather than attack twice—such as against Ursaluna and Pecharunt.
