Quiver Dance increases Volcarona's Speed so that it outruns all of the unboosted metagame. Fire Blast allows it to deal massive neutral damage, greatly threatening checks like Assault Vest Tornadus-T, especially when boosted. Alternatively, Flamethrower can be run as a more accurate option while still dealing high damage. Bug Buzz hits Psychic-types like Latias, Mew, and Reuniclus as well as deals great damage to checks like Tyranitar and Dragon-types like tank Garchomp, which are otherwise good answers to Volcarona. Giga Drain allows Volcarona to hit Water-types like Keldeo, Rotom-W, and Slowbro and Ground-types like Hippowdon, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon, all while providing Volcarona with a source of recovery. Alternatively, Hidden Power Ground allows Volcarona to muscle past Heatran and most Volcanion sets which are otherwise are good Volcarona checks.

Set Details
========

A Modest nature guarantees an OHKO on Heatran with Hidden Power Ground and on Slowbro with Giga Drain. It also lets Volcarona OHKO specially defensive Gliscor and Tornadus-T after Stealth Rock with Fire Blast. The downside of running a Modest nature is that it leaves Volcarona than Choice Scarf Pokemon like Excadrill, Landorus-T, Kyurem-B even after a boost while also being slower than maximum Speed Excadrill, Landorus-T, Kyurem-B, Jolly Medicham, and Timid Manaphy at +0. This can be avoided by running a Timid nature, but this is at the expense of reducing the damage output and losing OHKOs on certain Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========

The power of this set allows Volcarona to be used at various points in the game as either an early-game or mid-game wallbreaker or as a late-game sweeper. It is especially lethal early game, since it can catch opponents off guard by immediately applying pressure as opposed to waiting until late-game scenarios to try and pull off a sweep. This lets Volcarona weaken its own checks by immediately throwing off attacks or setting up early to punch holes for teammates to come in and make use of. Avoid brining Volcarona in into entry hazards, especially Stealth Rock, to maximize Volcarona's health and let it stick around longer. Volcarona should be brought in on Pokemon it can safely set up against like Ferrothorn, non-Thunder Wave Clefable, and Steel-types like Skarmory and Magnezone.

Team Options
========

Entry hazards, particularly Stealth Rock, are dangerous for Volcarona, so partners like Excadrill, Latias, and Zapdos that can remove hazards for it are great partners. Latias can provide Healing Wish, dual screens and Thunder Wave support to Volcarona, whereas Zapdos can bring it in safely with Volt Switch. Mega Diancie can prevent hazards with Magic Bounce and can come in on Tornadus-T, which Volcarona is threatened by. Dual screens support from Serperior also ensures that Volcarona can stay healthy for a longer duration. Clefable provides Knock Off support to remove items like Assault Vest from Tornadus-T and Tyranitar, allowing Volcarona to beat them easily. Pokemon that can take advantage of Volcarona's wallbreaking such as Manaphy and Keldeo make fantastic partners, since they benefit from Volcarona weakening their special checks in Tornadus-T and Latias while being able to deal with Volcarona's checks in Chansey and Sand Rush Excadrill.

Quiver Dance provides Volcarona the necessary boost required to deal heavy damage while also increasing its speed and special defense making it able to withstand attacks. Fire Blast is Volcarona's main STAB move allowing it to deal massive neutral damage greatly threatening checks like Assault Vest Tornadus-T when boosted. Alternatively, Flamethrower can be run as a more accurate option while still dealing high damage. Bug Buzz allows Volcarona to hit Psychic-types like Latias, Mew, and Reuniclus and as well as deal great damage to checks Dark-types like Tyranitar and Hydreigon and also deal good damage to and Dragon-types like Tank Garchomp who are otherwise good answers to it. Giga Drain allows it Volcarona to hit Water-types like Keldeo, Rotom-Wash and Slowbro and Ground-types like Hippowdon, Seismitoad and Gastrodon. Alternatively, Hidden Power Ground allows Volcarona to muscle past Heatran who is one of Volcarona's better checks.

A spread with maximum Special Attack and Speed investment is used here. A Modest nature guarantees an OHKO on Heatran with Hidden Power Ground and also an OHKO on Slowbro with Giga Drain. It also gives an lets Volcarona OHKO on Specially Defensive Gliscor and Tornadus-T after rocks with Fire Blast. The downside of running a Modest nature is being that it leaves Volcarona slower than Choice Scarfed Pokemon like Excadrill, Landorus-T, Kyurem-Black while also being and slower than max speed Excadrill, Landorus-T, Kyurem-Black, Jolly Medicham and Timid Manaphy before boost. This can be avoided by running a Timid Nature but will result in at the expense of reducing the damage output and avoiding the losing OHKOs on certain Pokemon.

(lo volcarona can be used at basically any point of the game since lo unlocks wallbreaking potential without the need to set up. i've reflected this in the section below)
