Light up the Sky (Sixth Generation Sun Team)

Hey guys,

I'm WhimsicuhL, but you could call me Whim for short! I've been battling competitively since DPP, however it has been on and off. I always remembered wanting to use Charizard to sweep a team and always tried back in the day. Other than beating the average noob (Yes, someone like me), I couldn't beat the pros. Now, after the dawn of Mega Evolutions, our badass dragon turned even more badass (and competitively viable in OU). IMO, Char-Y looks way cooler than X and I like how he retains the flying type, even though that means SR will smoke his ass. So as you might have all understood by now, this is a Sun Team with a Charizard-Y core.

Willow (Ninetales-F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Substitute
- Fire Blast
- Roar

Ah, zee main Drought setter. Willow's job is to jump in, drop the sun and let the others sweep. She also periodically drops in on Sweepers and Burns them. I don't really think I could substitute her for anything else, however, Substitute seems pretty useless to me. I never use it. Roar is wonderful, phazing all the pokes setting up is a totally awesome way of checking sweepers. Only shitty thing is that she isn't super fast, so she can't dodge every hit and has no way of properly recovering.

Andy (Whimsicott) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Jolly Nature
- Encore
- Taunt
- U-turn
- Knock Off

The fastest taunter of all time. Faster than even Thundurus. He stops Dragons dead in their tracks and usually Encores and U-Turns to Mandibuzz. He's an amazing lead and I usually stop those pesky Galvantula from setting up Sticky Web. God do I hate that move. Cripples the shit out of my pokes. If this guy had Defog, I'd love him even more. Just look at that face. Encore and Taunt is dangerous and Knock Off makes sure the walls are easier to break. U-Turn is to create some Momentum. I think this set is the perfect Whimsicott set. Whether Whimsicott belongs in this team or not is a worry.

Draco (M-Charizard Y) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef

- Roost

Oh. My. God. He's so fucking powerful. Not to mention he looks like a badass. LOOK AT THAT FACE. LOOK AT 'EM HORNS. OOOH YEAAAH! Okay, Ahem, sorry about that folks! Anyways, Draco is my main Special Sweeper (obviously). One STAB Fire Blast, Solar Beam for coverage, and Dragon Pulse for coverage is deadly. Roost is for some healing, but I barely use it. I don't know what I could change. I wish he had Wish. He'd be unstoppable.

Bertha (Mandibuzz-F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SDef / 252 Def

- Roost

The destroyer of rocks, the breaker of screens and the poisoner of walls. At first, I never really knew why people would like Big Bertha, I mean, she's a Mandibuzz. Y'know, that pokemon that was always second to the Patriotic and much better, Braviary. She was just the Fly HM Whore for the people who were stuck with Pokemon Black 2. HOWEVER, Competitively, she poops on everything. Except for Ferrothorn, but fuck him. Toxic to weaken the shit out of walls and sweepers, Knock off to hit off CB, Lefties and LO, and Roost to just stay alive and piss the opponent off. My god. Bertha really changed it around for the team. Back when we USED to be walled by Garchomp and whatever, Bertha just throws a Toxic, gets rid of rocks, Roosts and waits for Toxic to slowly whittle away at their abismal health. Man, she kicks ass.

Sally (Venusaur-F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP

- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Growth

Chlorophyll sweeper. When you think of that, you think of her. Yes, Venusaur. The Grass Type from the first Generation. Genwunners know what I'm talking about. I used to hate this pokemon. I thought it had a poor design and was always worse than Charizard. Man was I wrong. VENUSAUR FUCKING ROCKS. Set up drought, switch in, and watch her go to work. Sludge Bomb for some good neutral damage and Giga Drain to do some massive STAB and recovery. Growth when I can to set up a sweep. I don't usually use it since Weather only lasts 5 turns. HP Fire for some Coverage on them pesky steels and that's all. Nothing much to be said, she just kicks ASS.

Bob (Infernape-M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Mach Punch

Hey guys, meet Bob. He's a monkey. A fire monkey. Based off a sun god in chinese mythology (if I'm not mistaken). He provides coverage and He's fast as hell. He's a pretty new addition to the team and does a reasonably good job at wallbreaking. CB makes him deadly too. Nothing much to say here, he does his job well and makes sure the game is won.

I might(not would,might)switch the leftovers on ninetales for a heat rock,as it extends sun to 8 turns instead of 5,so you don't have to bring it in so often,and dont have to prematurely mega evolve Charizard.Also I would get a fire and flying resist because Talonflame is really common.Also I might switch one of Charizards moves for focus blast as Tyranitar completely destroys your hopes and dreams.Other than that,great team!

Just a nitpick here is Focus Blast >> Roost for Charizard Y. You don't need Roost with Mandibuzz's Defog Support. Focus Blast helps you past Tyranitar, and Heatran who otherwise stone walls your set.
 
Yeah I agree with Not a missingno. Heat Rock > Leftovers would be an ok change (not really needed though) just in situations where Ninetails is really low (you can just send it out, kill it, then you have 8 turns for Venusaur to wreck everything.)

Yep, I agree with the change from Lefties to Heat Rock. It seems like a good one since Ninetales doesn't last super long, so the leftovers aren't super necessary. I can't think of what pokemon to place as a Talonflame Counter.

Yeah, sounds just about right! Venusaur hates it when she only gets 4 turns to wreak havoc.

Consider it done. Roost was something I never used anyways. DAMN I REALLY WISH MEGA ZARD Y GOT A SPEED BOOST. I think he'd be either in Ubers or too frail to take a hit.
