Gen 5 Lizardbrain DragMag - 1550 ELO

:bw/terrakion: :bw/magnezone: :bw/bisharp: :bw/kyurem-black: :bw/latios: :bw/garchomp:

My first RMT! I am not usually a Gen 5 OU player, but something about the simplicity of clicking an illegally strong dragon move speaks to me on a a spiritual level. My twist on the classic DragMag archetype has couple cool tricks and suprisingly decent defensive tools that make it pretty good. Most importantly, it's REALLY fun.

:bw/terrakion:
Terrakion @ Focus Sash
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat

The ultimate HO lead. It sets fast rocks, taunts rockers and walls, and makes good early progress with its big stupid STABs. You usually want to lead with it, but against rain teams with :thundurus:, I am partial to leading with :magnezone: to bait the :politoed: and then double switching in Terrakion to bait in the ":thundurus: for additional opportunities to get damage off after setting rocks. Keeping rocks off is only super important while :Kyurem-Black: is still alive, so a sturdier rocker/hazard control isn't really needed.

:bw/magnezone:
Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon

The "Mag" in DragMag, but it does a lot more than removing metal birds, metal durians, metal bugs, and whatever Jirachi is. Magnezone actually has incredible midgame utility. It offensively checks and/or revenge kills mons like :gyarados:, specs :keldeo:, :mamoswine:, and :lucario:, finishes off weakened :tyranitar:, :landorus-therian:, :excadrill: and :heatran:, and pivots into and out of weak hits and bad choice locks with volt switch. As a scarfer that outspeeds anything slower than :alakazam:, its a suprisingly useful mid and late game cleaner as well.

This is an HO team, so keep in mind that THIS THING is part of your defensive backbone, so don't just throw it away unless you have a very good reason to do so.

:bw/bisharp:
Bisharp @ Leftovers
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch
- Low Kick
- Night Slash

This is not a TTar! Getting rid of the opponents fast psychics, especially scarf :latias: and :latios:, eases prediction and adds great defensive utility that makes it easier to click your own dragon moves. Sand isn't helpful for this team, and Ttar just felt awkward and slow-paced in testing., Bulky Bisharp's Steel typing gives it very comparable effective special bulk, and the threat of SD means that the opponent can't just try to set up on it.

As opposed to :tyranitar: Bisharp importanly offers a Sucker Punch that chunks things like :jirachi: :keldeo: :thundurus: :politoed: and various resisted frail mons in range of :Garchomp: scarf outrage or :latios: scarf dragon pulse or draco meteor. Sucker Punch also makes the :starmie: matchup even better because they can't even rapid spin on the way out. Night Slash is great for stopping potential setup from various sweepers and good neutral damage to help faciliate your dragons.

:bw/kyurem-black:
Kyurem-Black @ Choice Band
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam

723 attack??? 120 BP STAB Outrage????? You know what this does. Use this in the early to mid game most of the time, often right after terrakion goes down, to blow huge holes in the opponent's team. It clicks stupidly powerful Outrage that even 2 shots most resists (and the ones that are 3HKO'd can be double switched into with Mag. Against fast, frail teams, you want to just trade 1 for 1 and sac it for momentum afterwards. Against slower teams, this mon is the reaper and can sometimes get 3-4 KOs. Keep it safe or throw it away based on the matchup. Kyurem has pretty fantastic bulk, so it can take supereffective hits from :excadrill: and :jirachi: and chunk them for ridiculous chip on the attempted switch-in, and even emergency check :keldeo:, :starmie:, -2 scarf latis, and various setup sweepers.

:bw/latios:
Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Trick
- Dragon Pulse

The best scarfer in the tier by far, but still a mon you have to play carefully with. Not great in the early game, especially against teams with :tyranitar: or when your opponent's steel type(s) are at full health, so you often want to save it for the mid to late game where it cleans up ridiculously easily. Great check to nearly every setup sweeper, and tricking a scarf onto an annoying wall such as :jellicent:, :blissey:, :hippowdon:, or :clefable: makes cleanup with scarf :garchomp: or Latios itself easy. This is your only true Earthquake switch-in, so bait :gliscor: and :landorus-therian: in for rocks chip and smack it with various Outrages, sucker punches, and flash cannons to make life easier for Latios. After rocks, even Dragon Pulse can KO lots of mons with even average bulk, and Draco Meteor is the requisite Gen 5 nuke.

:bw/garchomp
Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Dual Chop

Another iconic and very standard set that does all the things you think it does. I tooled around with Adamant, but it's just important to outspeed mons around base 90 like scarf :landorus-therian:. Scarf Outrage and Earthquake are amazing STAB moves that clean up a weakened team after breaking with :kyurem-black:, Dual Chop erases sash :alakazam:, and rock slide OHKOs +1 speed :volcarona:. Very consistent and very strong, not much to it.

You may have to make some double switches, and you WILL have to resort to the damage calculator to make sure that certain scarf hits OHKO, but its worth it for the sheer joy of clicking Dragon moves for 2/3 of the game. Have fun!
