Hello! I am pretty new at this Pokemon Showdown stuff and competitive battling in general, but after some experimentation and multiple teams I've come to a setup I like. I know it has a lot of improvements that could be made, but I am not positive what. Hopefully my team can be improved through the feedback provided!
Team Roster
This team has done me well this far, though I have only peaked to approx. 1350, I put the blame on my own battling skills more than the actual team itself. I suppose some issues are the lack of a spinner and absence of some types that'd be useful for offense.
Residential Pokes: (I plan on keeping these pokemon on the team)
Fantasma (Gengar) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Giga Drain
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
Gengar is typically my lead pokemon, unless there is a Galvantula on the foe's team which I send out Gliscor or Ferrothorn instead. I am not a fan of setups and such, and Gengar seems pretty capable of handling a variety of leads. The wide move variety let's Gengar take out all sorts of threats, and even do considerable damage to a Greninja using Dark Pulse as long as Focus Blast hits and Fantasma is at full health. Giga Drain also isn't part of the typical Gengar setup, and I've been able to recover it to full health in several instances after a Ground or Water type has attacked it. Thunderbolt is also good for taking out Skarmory.
Conejito (Azumarill) @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 212 HP / 44 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off
- Play Rough
- Ice Punch
Azumarill is a reliable physically offensive threat, I believe. Huge Power puts its otherwise dismal attack to a much more preferable number. This set is for the most part a typical Azumarill set. Originally, there was Superpower instead of Play Rough, but I really didn't get much use out of Superpower, and I wanted a reliable method of hurting Dark-types, so I got Play Rough instead, which gives Azu another STAB move. Knock Off is for the ghosts and psychics. Priority Aqua Jet is useful for taking out Ground and Fire pokes.
Eternidad (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Toxic
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
Gliscor! A personal favorite, and a pokemon that incites rage in opponents not prepared to deal with it. When I need to take care of Electric or Grass (occasionally Steel) types for Azumarill, I rely on Gliscor to get the job done. With it's ToxiHeal setup and Roost, I can revitalize Gliscor if it happens to be worn down throughout the battle. Toxic + Roost or Earthquake to get rid of things like Blissey. It's defenses are decent, but it is pitifully weak against some common offensive types, Water and Ice. A reliable team mate.
Estrella (Victini) @ Choice Band
Ability: Victory Star
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Brick Break
- Giga Impact
Victini is a very reliable wall-breaker that has given me quite a few victories. Using V-Create several times in one switch often surprises opponents, and destroys their walls. Victini can even do considerable damage to its own threats with a V-Create used on a switch in. Bolt Strike is also useful for taking on Flying types and Water types it may be stuck facing. The other two moves are filler.
Guest Pokemon (There could be a better replacement for these or they aren't living up to their potential)
Grueso (Greninja) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Protean
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Grass Knot
Greninja is the most recent addition, having replaced Slaking, which replaced Kingdra. Anyway, a cookie cutter Greninja set with Grass Knot to take care of opposing Water types. It's high speed and huge variety of moves and it's Protean make it useful in concept, but during the few battles I have fought with it, things didn't go so well with it.
Ferroso (Ferrothorn) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
Ferrothorn has been useful during the time I've had it! It has some good resistances, but for some reason it's pitifully weak against Steel. Using Stealth Rock to prepare for a Talonflame or Charizard and Leech Seed to slowly sap away health from a foe while physical attackers suffer the double recoil has done my team well so far. A well timed Power Whip can also take out pokes like Azumarill or Diggersby with ease. Usually my last resort sort of pokemon due to my disdain for setups.
This team has a lot of improvements, and there are some teams which outright destroy this team. I hope that some considerable improvements can be made, and any critical flaws fixed!
