Looking for guidance after testing my first 5th gen team

I heard about pokemon showdown after I started playing PokeMMO. Other than that game, I've never played any installment of the gameboy series past gold and silver. I still thought it was a much more exciting pastime than PokeMMO so I started playing more showdown. The first team that I've made has actually been doing well. When I played before the ladder was most recently reset I got up to about 1700 and afterward I'm at about 1600, but I've noticed a few things that my team has difficulty with. Boosting pokemon with substitute can be really annoying and hard to deal with, since I use a few pokemon that allow some to start setting up if they're left in. Another issue with my team is that it's way short on physical moves outside of Infernape and Ferrothorn's Power Whip.

In playing there's a lot on the Smogon OU page that I've never encountered. I've seen maybe one Salamence, one Scizor, and one Chansey. I've never played a Blissey. The only Jirachi set I've seen seems to be the Wish/Iron Head/U-Turn set. Choice Scarf isn't something I've seen too much of either even though I know it too is really popular, or at least haven't noticed since half of my team is very slow.

These sets were almost completely Smogoned with just a couple of alterations in natures and EV spreads.

Porygon2 is one of my favorite pokemon and helps out a lot against weather teams and most Dragon pokemon. The Jellicent on this team has become a bit of a stall-out win condition, often times he'll taunt and recover his way to victory while the opponent suffers burn damage. I have 48 speed EVs on him, because smogon reccomends 44 and with 48 I'll outspeed most other smogoners Jellicent should they stare down, letting me get off the first taunt. Infernape I have for its great wall breaking mixed STAB and it's also my only physical attacker and has access to U-Turn. Espeon is my only line of defense against entry hazards, but seems like it's the most fun line of defense I can use. Jolteon is my go-to lead since it's so fast and can volt switch and can put the pressure on dragons and ground types with hidden power ice. The Ferrothorn is handy, but I mostly use it for everything but entry hazards. Most matches I'll get 0-1 layers of spikes out. Thunder Wave and Leech Seed are the ones I seem to use the most.

I'm still really new to this gen and like I said there's a lot of top threats I haven't encountered. It seems like most people use weather based teams? Any advice on my team or what I should be wary of would be greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all.

Hi,

So you really need to expand these descriptions, and possibly even reformat your layout. Its generally recommended to have at least three lines of descriptions per Pokemon, explaining why you chose that set/EVs/etc. It is also easier for raters if you place these descriptions under each Pokemon's set, as it is much cleaner looking and easier to read and comprehend. Its best to look at the RMT Archive to see excellent examples of what I am talking about.

PM me your updated descriptions and I will unlock this thread.
