Lunala's eclipse shines bright in Ubers! Thanks to Shadow Shield, Lunala can withstand nuclear blows from some of the tier’s hardest hitters, such as Swords Dance Groudon and Choice Band Rayquaza. Moreover, its solid Speed tier lets it neutralize them, using either Ice Beam or Will-O-Wisp, without even having to compromise Shadow Shield. Ice Beam also hits the likes of Zygarde-C, Zekrom, and Yveltal. Hex grants more offensive presence and complements Will-O-Wisp, notably stinging a burned Necrozma-DM and dissuading Calyrex-S from switching in. Alternatively, Roar phazes setup sweepers like Geomancy Xerneas and Calm Mind Kyogre after stomaching a boosted attack, which Shadow Shield makes easy. Due to its nasty weakness against common Ghost- and Dark-type attacks, Lunala loves teaming up with Pokemon such as Yveltal and Eternatus: the former is the best counter to Calyrex-S, while the latter checks Marshadow and absorbs Knock Off from Necrozma-DM, Ferrothorn, and opposing Yveltal. In return, both of them appreciate Lunala dealing with Groudon, Zekrom, and Zygarde-C.
