Lycanroc @ Lycanium Z
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
- Drill Run
- Sucker Punch / Accelerock

The tier shifts have greatly benefited Lycanroc, with the departure of two of its largest threats, Gastrodon and Ferroseed, the drop of a new top-tier threat for it to check, Dodrio, and the much more offensive metagame being in its favor. Lycanroc's high Speed makes it a great Swords Dance sweeper, letting it outspeed most of the unboosted metagame including Froslass, Scyther, and the previously mentioned Dodrio. It can even play around some of its checks, such as by picking off a weakened Choice Scarf Togedemaru with Sucker Punch or catching it on the switch with Drill Run. Lycanroc should be used late-game so it can clean up the match after its threats have been weakened or taken out. Therefore, it appreciates special wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Jellicent and Alolan Exeggutor that can take out physical walls like Mudsdale and Quagsire. Lycanroc also benefits from entry hazard support, so it does well alongside setters like Froslass and Qwilfish, both of which can also help against Fighting-types like Hitmonchan.

Two large threats to Lycanroc in Gastrodon and Ferroseed left PU a while ago, so it naturally got better as a setup sweeper. Even when Quagsire dropped into PU, Lycanroc still has managed to remain a top tier threat (i feel like these could be combined to be less clunky. just sum up drops and rises benefited lycanroc, especially with dodrio dropping and the tier being more offensive). Its high Speed allows Lycanroc to serve as a check to various fast Pokemon in the tier, with the most notable being another of the recent drops in Dodrio, not to mention the Speed working great alongside Swords Dance when cleaning games (again, this could be summed up p quickly, also give some examples like froslass etc). It has even managed to adapt to some of its own threats, such as its running Drill Run to hit foes like Aggron and Sucker Punch for Choice Scarf Togedemaru (the sucker punch part is definitely right but it has ran drill run for quite a bit now, mainly to try and hit toge on the switch). Lycanroc appreciates teammates such as Choice Specs Jellicent and Alola Exeggutor, which can take out Pokemon like Mudsdale and Quagsire (sum up that it wants strong special wallbreakers to deal with physical walls). Similar to other offensive threats, Lycanroc benefits from hazards being set, so it does well with hazard setters like Froslass and Qwilfish (both also pressure fighting-types). Overall, Lycanroc is an amazing setup sweeper in PU, so you wouldn't want to bark up the wrong tree with this cat. (remove this end bit thanks, it's borderline useless and is just eating characters that could be put to use somewhere else)

The tier shifts have greatly benefited Lycanroc, with the departure of two of its largest threats,(add comma) in Gastrodon and Ferroseed rising, the drop of a new top-tier threat for it to check, Dodrio, being able to check a top-tier drop in Dodrio, and the much more offensive metagame being in its favor. Lycanroc's high Speed makes it a great Swords Dance sweeper, letting it while being able to outspeed most of the unboosted metagame including Froslass, Scyther, and the previously mentioned Dodrio. It can even play around some of its checks, such as being able to by picking off a weakened Choice Scarf Togedemaru with Sucker Punch or catching it on the switch with Drill Run. Lycanroc should be used late-game(, remove comma) so it can ideally clean up the match after its threats have been weakened or taken out. Therefore, it appreciates special wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Jellicent and Alolan Exeggutor, which that can take out physical walls like Mudsdale and Quagsire. Lycanroc also benefits from entry hazard support, hazards weakening the opposing team, so it does well alongside setters like Froslass and Qwilfish, both of which can also help against Fighting-types like Hitmonchan.
