M-47 STRIKER AUTOMATIC GRENADE LAUNCHER
So the story goes like this, I’m just joined Smogon and have been playing X & Y Ubers since its inception. In battling different people on the ladder I’ve learnt enough to the point where I’ve been considered an average player (a.k.a I don’t set up a geomancy xerneas turn 1) but I am shit when it comes to teambuilding. So after a few weeks of trying to put 6 mons together which could work relatively well together I built a team which is not the greatest but can hold its own on the ladder. Since I’m out of ideas as to if and how I can make this team any better with changing too much due to my limited skill and inexperience in teambuilding I’ve come here for help. So we begin with Member #1 Xerneas.
Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 192 HP / 252 SAtk / 64 Spd
Modest Nature
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Thunder
- Psyshock
Standard geomancy xerneas set. This thing is overhyped as fuck which is not saying it’s not good. It still happens to be one of the most powerful special sweepers out there. I ran the more bulkier set over max speed max special attack modest/timid since I’m not running Hyper Offense so I see no reason to do so. I’d rather have more bulk on geomancy sets anyways. It also acts as a nice secondary check to stuff like MMX. Geomancy and Moonblast is staple whereas Thunder hits Ho-oh and Lugia whereas Psyshock nails the blobs, Gengar and Amoonguss.
Kyurem-White @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Turboblaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Flare
- Earth Power
Kyurem-W is my reliable scarfer and pretty strong special attacker. Base 95 speed gets it the jump over two of the major threatening base 90 scarfers i.e. Kyogre and Zekrom. Speaking of Kyogre this also acts as a pseudo Kyogre switching in as modest nature scarf Kyogre’s Water Spout is only a 3HKO. The moveset and spread is pretty standard as timid gets me the jump over other base 90 scarfers with +ve speed nature. Draco and Ice Beam are strong STAB moves whereas Fusion Flare rounds of coverage for steel types and Earth Power is used over Focus Miss for obvious reason and E-Power hits Heatran harder which otherwise walls this set pretty comfortably.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Atk / 180 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
Lando-T is a really cool and fun to use mon this gen. Intimidate + U-turn gives it the edge over other physical walls (namely Groudon and Hippo). I remember taking these EV’s from somewhere a while ago so I’m not sure what they exactly do so if you have a better spread let me know. Lando-T has a huge function on this team as a physical wall and pivot. It’s my main check to a lot of stuff like Arceus Normal/ Ho-oh/ Kanga. The moveset on this is fairly simple. Stealth Rock is the main hazard on most teams which choose to carry hazards. Earthquake is powerful stab and hits pretty hard. U-Turn provides momentum in my favour and gives me switch initiative whereas Stone Edge hits Ho-oh and anything else immune to ground types.
Metagross @ Assault Vest
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 124 Atk / 136 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Rock Slide
Every team as of now needs a Xerneas check/counter in my opinion and Metagross is mine. I felt like using something different outside of Scizor/Aegi. If however you feel that either of them does a better job than AV Gross let me know. The EVs allow you to survive a Calm Mind boosted Fire Blast from Mewtwo-Y. Coming to the moveset Meteor Mash + Bullet Punch beats all Xerneas sets. Pursuit lets me take on regular Mewtwo and MMY and Rock Slide is for when I decide to make a big boy play and predict the Ho-oh switch in and nail it.
Arceus-Fairy @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Spd
Timid Nature
- Judgment
- Recover
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp
So it turns out that I’m THAT guy who decided to run dual fairy. Arceus-Fairy does a fantastic job of checking most dragons with it typing and amazing natural bulk. This lures most of Xerneas hard counters and wisps them making the endgame easier for Xerneas. The spread allows to me to have optimal physical bulk while outspeeding Yveltal so I can hit it with SE Judgment before it taunts and Oblivion Wings. Moveset contains STAB Judgment and fairy type is very nice offensively. Recover for obvious recovery. Defog deals with hazards which are a nuisance to this team and Will-o-Wisp over toxic for steel types meant to switch into Fairy Types before they can hit hard.
Kangaskhan (F) @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Return
- Sucker Punch
- Earthquake
Mama Kanga is a very strong revenge killer and hits extremely hard thanks to parental bond which is a solid ability. Being able to hit something twice is huge. So as mentioned this is my revenge killer and wall breaker. I don’t know what spread to go for so I stuck with max max attack speed and jolly to speed tie with base 100 and outspeed anything below. Onto the moveset, Fake out is nice priority and is useful for breaking sash and dealing with Deo-A. Return is obvious powerful STAB which hits very hard. Sucker Punch is strong priority against opposing faster pokemon and dark typing got better offensively. Earthquake is for steels such as Aegislash and Dialga which wall other moves.
So we come to an end. As of now the team does decently and is fun to use in the current metagame and I hope to improve it based on the suggestions of the XY Ubers players of Smogon, a community which I’m new to but hope to get into in time.
