ORAS OU M-venusaur balance

'Sup guys I'd like to RMT a cookie cutter venu-tran team I've have recently came up with, I really didn't put a lot of effort in making this so hopefully you can improve it.

Started with the infamous venu-tran combo, added latios and keldeo because the former brings defog utility and is a good dragon-type, the latter synegises well with the rest of the team and I was in need of a fighting type to check kyurem-black. At this point I really didn't know how to finish this team. All I knew is that I was generally weak to psychic types so my first choice here was weavile with pursuit, but since when I build teams I never put together 3 mons weak to the same type ( in this case it would be fairy) I slapped a bisharp. It is kinda stupid to put weavile instead of bisharp because of the fairy weakness considering the fact that bisharp doesn't actually want to take fairy type attacks but love me for what I am, don't change me :(. So I was looking at what I had and I was still weak to talonflame, pinsir, sand rush excadrill and Alakazam, so I put scarf landorus, and that's it.

Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite

Bold Nature

My mega and the pokemon the team is built around. Went for the defensive set because it's a really good mon and a good answer to a lot of threats. Synthesis, giga drain and sludge bomb are all mandatory moves on venusaur; the last slot is usually either hp fire, knock off or leech seed, I went for leech seed because it's good when paired with giga drain, lessens the need to use synthesis and most importantly it drains a lot of hp from chansey so I can switch more comfortably into seismic toss with keldeo and bisharp.

EVs allow to outspeed max speed azumarill, the rest are max hp, enough spdef to take a LO boosted psychic from alakazam and the rest dumped into defense.

New EVs: 248 HP / 236 Def / 4 SpD / 20 Spe
With this spread venusaur handles much better physical attackers (think lopunny, ground types, etc...), 20 Spe EVs speedcreeps standard sets and with 4 SpDef EVs it avoids the 3HKO from +3 manaphy's ice beam while factoring the recovery from giga drain on the lowest roll.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire

Calm Nature

IVs: 0 Atk

Heatran is a popular teammate to venusaur and for good reasons. I went for the SpDef set because I wanted a good wall and a sturdy rock setter. Again moves are pretty straightforward and in the last slot I chose roar to prevent clefable and talonflame from setting up.

Speed EVs are to outspeed minimum speed rotom, allowing to potentially finish off a weakened one or hitting that with a toxic when at low health, the rest is dumped into hp and spdef.

New EV spread: EVs: 248 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe, timid nature. this set wasn't that popular back in january but I admit it's cool for fast scizor, bisharp going gfor knock, breloom going for spore, etc... also taunt over roar bc fuck clefable.

I had a grass type, I had a fire type, it was time to add a water type and it was time to add some firepower. Specs keldeo enters the team as my wallbreaker.

EVs are pretty straightforward and maximise offensive potential.

other options

A cool option would be running hp bug to nail slowbro, starmie and latis, but icy wind is kinda important to better deal with dragon types as usually my best answer to them is going for draco, and that is not good at all, especially if the opponent can send some stuff out to setup after the drop (think about pinsir, bisharp...). I considered a subCM set but to be honest that set can put in work against stall teams without amoonguss, but who does that everyone on the ladder is scum and runs ABR stall, so...

Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Psyshock

Good blanket check to some threats, like charizard-y and manaphy and with defog utility. Defog gets rid of hazards. While this team is not too weak to them the passie damage hampers the ability of venusaur and heatran to switch into threats. Roost gives some nice staying power and draco and psyshock are standard.

Watch this spread EVs: 8 HP / 32 Def / 216 SpA / 252 Spe. It's beautiful because it's probably unnecessary convoluted bc it does only this

+2 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Quick Attack vs. 8 HP / 32 Def Latios: 225-265 (74.2 - 87.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Now, you may ask, why bother with this benchmark. Reason is everyone doesn't use the brain to ladder so people spam extrashine's birdspam HO and being able to revenge kill pinsir is nice. The only problem is pinsir sometimes is adamant, and that takes away the purpose of my spread.
other options
I was thinking about thunderbolt in place of roost to better deal with slowbro and skarmory, but I'm not sure if it's worth it, I'd like to hear your opinion on this.

The much-needed answer to psychic types and top threat in ou. Moves are all standard and the item of choice is lum berry because it improves matchup against stall and because sometimes I need to switch into a scald from slowbro. Also shrugging off random thunder waves is really good. EVs are straightforward and I went for adamant to make up for the lack of a power boosting item.

Stealth edit: dark glasses is a better item.

Scarflando is my speed control mon of choice and the first three moves are standard, the last slot is for wallbreaking and getting a free switch into a teammate, since heatran and venusaur won't switch into threats forever (this is especially true for heatran).

EVs outspeed adamant scarfdrill which is basically the only relevant threat in lando speed tier and the leftover EVs are poured into attack and defense.

Hey, i really like this team, i think its very solid, most common threats of the metagame are well covered but i do have some suggestions for it :



First, i can suggest to use Pursuit instead of Sword Dance on Bisharp, Bisharp with Pursuit can trapkill Lati@s which is one of the most common check to M-Venusaur in the metagame so removing him from the field quickly is very good, Pursuit also allow you to trapkill like M-Alakazam and Gengar which are revenge killer/checks to M-Venusaur and are in general, huge threats for balanced team like yours, having a way to forcing them out/trapkilling them by using Sucker Punch/Knock Off and Pursuit is nice. Obviously, the Lum Berry is only usefull on the Sword Dance set to get free turns against like Will O Wisp from Rotom-W but since you are using an all in out attacker set right now, you could try Black Glasses maybe, they'l allow you to have extra damage on dark types moves without the recoil of the life orb which is cool.

Yeah you are right, Talonflame is a big problem on your team which isn't normal since you have a Heatran, using Stone Edge instead of Toxic would quickly fix this problem.

Since you now have a Pursuiter, you could try the SubCM set for Keldeo : it will you to pressure more oriented defensive teams which now without SD Bisharp, are hard to break.

I do think that Knock Off is better than Explosion on Landorus-T : Knock Off is in general just a better move because it allow you to KO Gengar, to remove the opponent item which is always great and its a spammable move.

hello i like your team, I have to give you some suggestions to help you cover the weaknesses of your team

then I immediately put a counter for mega garde, and the other fairies, (Clefable, sylveon specs), I like Scarf Jirachi, maybe instead of Bisharp, also can check lop mega, mega bee, talon (with zen headbutt ) mega gross (with fire punch), in most of latios enters quietly, you can put in his set also wish healing, helps much against stall, I'll explain later.

I would change the moves of Heatran, I would Stallbreaker with power Herb and solar beam combo for beat quag,rotom-w,slowbro, magma storm, taunt, protect (useful against hjk of Medicham for example) or you can use flash or earth cannon power, or even stone edge, tran is versatile, if you use s.edge advice timid nature with 28 atk to beat in one shot talon and Chary, so good :)

the latest tips are these: put hp fire on latios, helps against fast mega zor and Ferrothorn that are annoying if the opponent plays buky ground as chomp, this set of latios puts pressure on these type of core.

I would change the set landorus putting defensive to take less damage from Exca, perhaps with rocks, SD is also good on the set defense to beat things like mega Scizor and MG clef and chomp

Toying aroud some of your ideas I changed the sets but after some battles against stall teams I figured that you actually need the combination of leech seed, sub CM keldeo and lum SD bisharp just to have a slim chance to break through them, otherwise the game lasts for like 100+ turns but it usually ends in a 6-0 . If you settle for non-scarf landorus Ice punch metagross and in general pretty much anything above the 110 speed tier screws this team. Idk what I'm doing wrong probably the team needs to be arraged in a different way :(
 
What I think About Your Team First Glance

This team is a standard Venusaur-Mega and Heatran. This team seems to struggle with sand and charizard y with scarf ttar(but what doesn't). I like that he stayed with something simple and put nice members around the core to ofc make it viable.

Bisharp with SD I feel doesn't fit your team or benefit from the mons you have placed beside it.
I feel av pursuit would help you get rid of mons like Latias/Latios and be able to live hits from mega diancie and kyurem and killing them in return. Bisharp with av at full can also live a hyper voice so if your opponent is worried about missing and clicks hyper voice your golden. This will also help you with your manectric problem and allow you to pursuit the threat and hopefully make it no so effective vs your team.

This will help you with your slowbro/talonflame issues. This tran set would be able to lure in bulky water mons such as rotom and slowbro. This set will also make you less weak to sd bulky flame being able to trap it and earth power if they try and roost. This has enough speed to revenge kill sd adamant mega scizor and stop it in its tracks.

I think everything else is fine. Nice work on the build and thought process. I wish you massive success buddy and hope you take my changes into consideration.
