Machamp gets a Ring-Out! (OU RMT)

So with the upcoming release of HG/SS in the UK, I have been exercising my old creaky shoddy muscles and trying a few teams, this is the one I have settled on but I think it needs just a little work to make it perfect.

Without further ado...

THE LEAD:

Spr_b_g4_068_s.png

Machamp@Lum Berry
252 HP, 160 Atk, 96 Sp.Def
Adamant/No Guard
~Dynamicpunch
~Substitute
~Payback
~Bullet Punch

This thing is an absolute beast as a lead. Most bulky SR leads will get the rocks up then face the coin flip of 100% accurate confusion, and be forced to switch or dance with Lady Luck. Faster leads tend to be fragile, and can be KO'd before they can do any real damage. Payback puts the hurt on ghosts who will switch into your Dynamicpunch, Sub eases prediction right off the bat, and Bullet Punch is because you can never have too many priority moves. Lum Berry is for soaking predicted Spore/Sleep Powder/WoW/Twaves.

THE SCOUT/REVENGE KILLER
Spr_b_g4_330.png

Flygon@Choice Scarf
252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Jolly/Levitate
~Outrage
~Earthquake
~Stone Edge
~U-Turn

Standard Scarfgon, works wonders at both scouting early game and coming in to deter anything that has managed to nab a DD or two. The fastest U-Turn in the West really helps ease prediction and scout so I can formulate a strategy.

THE SR/PHAZING TANK

Spr_b_g4_260.png

Swampert@Leftovers
252 HP/252 Def/4 Atk
Relaxed/Torrent
~Earthquake
~Ice Beam
~Stealth Rock
~Roar

The old faithful Mixpert, this can come in so easily on a resisted physical/electric attack and set up rocks on the switch. It is also my answer to Crocune, I need to be careful with Taunt DD Gyara though.
Soaks hits like a champ, one of my sturdiest, most dependable team members.

THE SPECIAL SWEEPER

Spr_b_g4_395.png

Empoleon@Petaya berry
12 HP/12 Def/252 Sp.Atk/232 Speed
Modest/Torrent
~Substitute
~Agility
~Surf
~Ice Beam

SubPetaya Empoleon, needs no introduction here. This has saved my ass so many times, if carefully guarded it makes the perfect last team member. It can take a lot of non-STAB Earthquakes which push it down to berry activation, if I can predict and Agility that turn then my opponent has pretty much sealed their fate.

THE SPIN-BLOCKER
Spr_b_g4_479L.png

Rotom-c@Leftovers
252 HP/70 Def/188 Speed
Timid/Levitate
~Thunderbolt
~Will-o-Wisp
~Pain Split
~Substitute

A great team supporter, can stall out Blissey one on one with careful Sub/Pain Split useage. I love using Substitute as it often helps me scout for status/pads damage from an unfavourable switch-in. Neuters physical threats and makes an excellent switch-in to Machamp/Scizor.

THE BAIT

Spr_b_g4_248.png

Tyranitar@Expert Belt
252 Atk/208 Speed/48 Sp.Atk
Hasty/Sand Stream
~Crunch
~Flamethrower
~Superpower
~Pursuit

This is my answer to Latias, Azelf, Gengar, Starmie... the list goes on. Sand Stream screws Sash users and makes it that little bit harder to survive against my repeated predictions and switches. Faking a Scarf can be very useful vs slower trapped opponents, as I can often get a surprise KO on slower steels like Skarm/Forry.

Overall I am having a fair amount of success with this team, Machamp is a big enough threat to open some major holes in my opponent's side, but it still feels a little weak defensively. A Scarf user means I am switching a lot, and while I don't have any SR weaks, I still miss a Spinner.

I am considering replacing Rotom with a Dual Screener, either Bronzong or Uxie.

Thoughts/Rates?

Hey what's up Gung, few suggestions here from me.

Team overall looks cool.

Machamp: One of my favorite leads, what I recommend you change on this Machamp is the moveset. Reason being is that you definitly need Subsitute to help you predict less and it's just great to see switchins when they see the Machamp. Other thing I'm sure you don't really need is Stone Edge, because barely and OU lead can harm since you already have Payback and Dynamic punch.

Flygon: The thing for Flygon that's pretty minor that you don't know on what to pick on is that you should keep on Fire Blast, since you don't currently have anything on your team that carries a fire move, but Tyranitar already carries Stone Edge, the other thing Scizor and Forretress can do a pretty big chunk to your team if you don't stop them.

Empoleon: Due to your team you had the option of either choosing Grass knot or Ice beam, my opinon is to have Ice beam since if you don't Dragons can totally try to setup on you and you won't be able to stop them, but for other Bulky waters you already have Rotom so it can deal with Vaporeon and Suicune.

Rotom: You definitly need to change the set for the rotom. Reason being is that I don't really find the reason of double status, and the other reason is that you don't really explain why you chose those EVs. Also you don't really explain why you have Leaf Storm. What I think you should change it too since you said you lacked recovery and keeping that thing alive is you might want to try Sub Pain Split Rotom, stops status and it has great recovery when most of it's counters come to it, like Blissey. Here's the EVs and the moveset for the Rotom:

Rotom @ Leftovers
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP / 70 Def / 188 Spd
Moveset: Will O Wisp, Thunderbolt, Subsitute, Pain Split

The reasoning for the EVs is to outspeed anything with below 280 Speed, or other words, to stop the popular Lucario with Adamant nature, To the moveset, Will O Wisp is easy for statusing or for the Pursuiters coming in for rotom. Thunderbolt is the regular stab move hurts vaporeon and suicune pretty hard. Subsitute is to stop status and to see incoming switchins. Simiply, Pain Split is for recovery.

Swampert: Nothing really to say, don't really change anything about it.

Tyranitar: Since you said you're willing to change this tar, because it gives you SkarmBliss problems that you can't stop and the only reason you're using the scarftar is to outspeed Starmie, Latias, Gengar, Rotom without a scarf. Which is fine to understand. So what set I recommend to take care of your SkarmBliss is Baittar, very useful and due to expert belt, people will fall for the choiced item.

Tyranitar @ Expert Belt
Nature: Hasty
EVs: 252 Att / 208 Spd / 48 SpAtt
Moveset: Crunch, Flamethrower, Superpower, Pursuit

Simple, Crunch is for Latias, Gengar, Starmie, Azelf, and Rotom. Flamethrower is for Scizors, Skarmory, Forretress, stuff weak to Fire. Superpower is for Blissey and other Tyranitars, possibly Heatrans, pursuit is for those Dark weak pokemon trying to switch out when you are sure they are. As I said again simple.

Good luck with the team in the future and hoped my analysis helped you quite fairly.

a lot of great advice, thanks!

I forgot to mention that Leaf Storm on Rotom was to handle Swampert.

e: trying the changes out, I am losing a lot of the time to Heatran and Breloom.

I can't see why you would be losing to Heatran, since Tyranitar and Swampert takes good care of it.

Breloom, I can see some stuff, you probably would have to sacrifice something to get that thing out of your way. If you need to you probably might want to take Will O Wisp off the rotom and put Shadow ball to take care of Breloom, if it's that huge of a problem.

Hey just a quick note here I noticed you don't have any fire type move (offensive) on your team so what I would suggest is to try T-tar with fire blast/flamethrower over Crunch OR Superpower. That way you would be able to beat skarmory easely as well as forretress

just a small question, what does Empoleon do for your team as their are other sweepers that are not weak to grass or walled by Blissey or Bulky Waters

Yea srry I totally blanked out with Empoleon being weak to grass (ur rite). But how do you handle an opponents Machamp especially SubMachamp as it hits 1/2 of your team for super effective damage

Machamp is pretty tough to face, I generally have to rely on getting a Burn off with Rotom, surviving a Payback and switching to Swampert to soak his weakened neutral hits... not a lot I can do against 100% confusion, but that's why I use one myself heh. If Sand Stream is up, I usually try switching around immunities/resists since I have nothing weak to Stealth Rock and I've had people ragequit after whiffing with their attacks so many times :pimp:

edit: Sub Machamp is even harder to face, I would have to sacrifice something and break the sub with Flygon, U-Turn to Rotom to evade the Dynamicpunch and go from there.

just an update to say I have reconsidered replacing Rotom - it just stalled a Blissey and Celebi combo with timely burns, Sub and Pain Splitting away their Recover/Softboiled PP :D

been having a lot of success with this team so far now.
