Madden NFL '09

The end of July brings on a ton of new football news. The excitement is just beginning to build for the new season as training camps open, NFL power rankings get thrown around, fantasy football drafts start, and... of course the new Madden game is just around the corner in early August.

I must admit I haven't followed any news about Madden '09 and what new things it might bring to the table. I was a dedicated Madden player on my PS2/PS3 up until Madden '08 where they ripped away my comfortable old Madden '05 controls. I played about 25 games on Madden '08 and lost interest in it and pursued other games. However, I can't help but get excited that a new game is coming out even if it looks like I will be forced to finally learn the new controls. If your an XBOX player you've always had the same control scheme, but PS players had their own set of controls for Madden until in '08 they revamped the whole system... to resemble the XBOX controls identically. It was frusturating for me and I gave up on it, but if they still don't open up an oppurtunity for '05 controls then I guess I'll force myself to learn the new controls.

I also might force myself to pick up '08 and quickly try to learn the controls because I found out today that my local Blockbuster is holding a Madden '09 release tournament. The details I picked up for it was that it would cost $10 to enter the tournament, but that $10 is really just a $10 credit towards the game after the tournament is over. The tournament is nothing special as the winner just gets a free copy of Madden '09 and all participants can use their $10 entry fee to get a $10 credit towards the game. Has anyone else seen anything around their local Blockbuster's about this? I plan to stop by mine again sometime within the next couple days to pickup Sin City since its been recommended to me several times but I haven't gotten around to watching it, and I'll try to pay closer attention to the details about the tournament.

I have always been a fan of the Madden series, although I was not pleased with the large amount of bugs and errors in '08. Out of curiousity, where in Minnesota do you live? Back in April I won a local tournament for '08 and got some pretty nice prizes, and this Blockbuster tournament sounds fairly interesting. The new features sound good, but I'm mostly hoping for a bug-free game (which is not what I've heard about NCAA Football '09).
 
I will be at the midnight launch for this game(Ps2), and I really cannot wait for it.
I hear that there will be the option to watch other(friends) online games while they play it.

Online makes the game.
 
Yeah, im getting it the minute it comes out, these babes will go like crazy here in titletown.

I play on wii and the cover looks stupid, but 08 wii online was really glitch free, very few gamebreaking glitches. I played it nonstop and worked my self into the top 10 online. Overall though id rather have a 360 though. The online competition is probably better and the roster updates are alot faster.
 
I played 07 and 08 for Xbox 360

For 08 my record was 62-19 and I was ranked #4000 in the world at one point. My average score was 41-13. I absolutely love Madden and have been a fan since Madden 99 for the N64 lol. The new features are stunning!
 
i've owned every madden since 2002 on the gamecube, and before that i owned madden 94 for the snes lol, but 2008 turned me off with the wii control scheme and all that shit. i rented it for a few weeks and did pretty well online, ranked in the 500s somewhere at one point.

i wish they'd have classic controller support. is that so much to fucking ask????

by any chance, does anyone know where i can see the roster for madden? that's always what i'm most interested in...
