Magnezone VS metagross 1on1

I was reading up on magnezone and he looks like an awsome pokemon. I have both a salamence and a dragonite (I usually just use one or the other) and on my 3 man team including mamoswine I think magnezone would make a great contribution since anything the dragons are weak to magnezone can cover. Anything magnezone is weak to the dragons cover, so I'm easily able to switch in.

Also I was reading that magnezone makes a great steel killer, including metagross but I don't see how. I think all metagross run earthquake and being 10 base speed above magnezone, the only way magnezone can surely out speed metagross in time to magnet rise is by being timid and investing 252 EVs into speed. Then again how many metagross even invest 252 EVs into speed? I would say only the choice scarfed ones or ones that are going to be timid. In that case it's still a waste of EVs.

How can I make magnezone counter metagross effectively but still be a good pokemon on my team. I really like discharge, but if I go this route with 252evs into speed and being timid I think I will be forced to invest into thunderbolt. How much speed does the most common and average metagross have?

edit: Also would a shuca berry (the one that lowers super effect ground moves) be my best option? I haven't read anywhere about magnezone using that berry.

One would assume that most of the Jolly Metagross also had max. speed EVs, so you probably would need a timid/252 speed EV Magnezone with magnet rise to suitably counter most the steel types (ie Metagross) effectively.

Metagross is mainly used as a lead nowadyas and rarely runs more than 8 Spe EVs. Running a timid Magnezone with at least 216 Spe EVs is just an insurance against Scizor and some fast Metagross, but it's not really needed. Anyway, question like that should be asked here. By the way, welcome to Smogon.
