Personally, I'd use the nicknames as pokepast links (the last part of the link) which would include explanations for team EVs and all that. Otherwise, if this is not wanted to avoid offensive nicknames, wether only allowing it to private teams or adding a notes section in the published teams tab interface (I know notes have been suggested already) would work.
 
@ the suggestion on adding a notes section, I actually asked this elsewhere in the past and the idea got fried (for valid reasons):

Yeah, sorry, no on both of these. Too much extra moderation overhead. Part of the reason /teams exists at all was to prevent the kind of abuse that pokepaste enabled - adding these features would open those gates again.
