Hey smogon. As my first real team I'm putting together on a cartridge game I decided to build a team around my favorite mega, Mega Pinsir. I'm floating around 1200-1400 with this team which I know isn't great but I constantly feel like the team is missing something. Hopefully you can help me out with this team and make it better. Thanks :]
Pinsir @ Pinsirite - Aerilate
-Jolly Nature
-252 speed / 252 attack / 4 defense
-Return
-Quick Attack
-Earthquake
-Swords Dance
The whole reason I built this team. Easily my favorite mega and he's an amazing one to boot. Aerilate makes Return insanely powerful as well as boosting the power of quick attack which is just here for priority. I have earthquake for coverage to hit pokes like Heatran and Tyranitar who would normally wall Mega Pinsir. I think the set is quite common so I won't really bother explaining it too much. The whole goal of the team is to clear checks and then have this guy set up a Swords Dance and hopefully win :]
Latios Life Orb - Levitate
-Timid Nature
-252 speed / 252 special attack / 4 special defense
-Draco Meteor
-Defog
-Psyshock
-Surf
Next we have Latios. With Mega Pinsir being 4x weak to stealth rocks I thought it would be stupid to not have a defog or rapid spin user on my team. Latios fit the bill perfectly as he is also resistant to electric and fire which hit Pinsir hard. I have Draco to hit everything for insane amounts of damage. Not many pokemon want to take a life orb stab Draco. Defog is on Latios for the above reasons. Psyshock to hit predicted fairy switch in's mainly Azumarill and Sylveon. Surf is here just for coverage. I might swap it for ice beam to OKHO Landorus and other pokemon 4x weak to ice.
Magnezone @ Choice Scarf - Magnet Pull
-Timid Nature
-252 speed / 252 special attack / 4 special defense
-Volt Switch
-Flash Cannon
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power Fire
Because Ferrothorn is such a huge wall to Mega Pinsir Magnezone was a really solid pokemon for the team. Trapping and killing Ferrothorn as well hitting a lot of Fairy types hard with flash cannon pretty much makes him irreplaceable. I thought he would just trap steel types but in game I find he does a lot of work, even if they don't have a steel type pokemon. Volt switch is for offensive momentum on an obvious switch, Flash cannon maims Fairy's, Thunderbolt is just for stab damage if I don't want to switch out and Hidden Power Fire is there to knock out any steel type not running shed shell.
Azumarill @ Assault Vest - Huge Power
-Adamant Nature
-252 attack / 252 HP / 4 special defense
-Aqua Jet
-Waterfall
-Knock Off
-Play Rough
Azumarill is rapidly becoming a staple on my teams. With Assault Vest he can take hits all day long and with Huge Power he can hit hard back. Again this set is pretty common so I won't explain too much. Aqua Jet is really nice priority if I can kill something faster that I know won't switch out. Waterfall is for pokemon I know I can take a hit from and want to hit as hard as possible back. Knock Off is Knock Off it's amazing. Every single pokemon in the game benefits from it's held item unless it's using acrobatics or something....And Play Rough is here to hit any pokemon that doesn't resist it HARD.
Rotom-Wash Leftovers
-Calm Nature
252 special defense / 252 HP / 4 special attack
-Will-o-wisp
-Volt Switch
-Pain Split
-Hydro Pump
Standard specially defensive Rotom. In a lot of cases it's a really solid lead with Will-o-wisp crippling physical attackers and Volt Switch to pivot with. Rotom provides a lot of resistances as well as being able to occasionally come in and get a revenge kill. AGAIN the set is very common but it is the glue of the team. Will-o-wisp is too stronk
Ferrothorn @ Shed-Shell
-Relaxed Nature
252 defense / 252 HP / 4 attack
-Gyro Ball
-Stealth Rocks
-Leech Seed
-Protect
Last but not least we have Ferrothorn. I wanted a hazard setter but didn't want to go over the top as I am using defog over rapid spin. Rotom and Ferrothorn are an amazing little mini core in the defense both covering each others weakness's well. Gyro Ball is here just so I have an offensive option, it isn't used much but I found myself using it more than I did powerwhip when I tried it on this set. Stealth rocks are standard on pretty much every team. Wearing down your opponents pokemon is vital in long battles. Leech Seed if for recovery, mainly for Mega Slowbro as you can then try and stall it out with Protect.
That's the team peoples :] Literally all feedback I will take into consideration. If anyone actually read all this then thanks :] I probably made a few error as I'm not a native an English speaker :] Thanks again!
