Matthew 20:16 (OU Trick Room RMT)

OU Trick Room RMT

"So the last will be first, and the first will be last."
(No I am not one of those bible-thumper types, I just feel that quote fits a Trickroom team very well)

Let me start off by saying that I have been playtesting this team a lot, my very first team was my best performing getting to around 1300, (Excluding this one) but it couldnt get much higher then that.
My New Team looks almost nothing like my original team with the exception of Bronzong, however it is doing pretty well, but Im sure you all can help this team from good to great. Also, another note, because I dont want to mention it again, everyone has 31 Ivs in every stat, except for Bronzong, Magnezone, Marowak, and Mesprit, who have 0 in speed.

Lead: Dragonite @ Life Orb
252 Atk/252 Sp. Atk/4 Spe (Quiet)
-Earthquake
-Extremespeed
-Fire Blast
-Draco Meteor

Ive had Dragonite on my team since before Salamance was banned, but not in the lead position. He does ok as an anti-lead, however he has to switch out to Machamp fearing an ice punch, Starmie fearing an Ice Beam, Jirachi fearing Ice Punch, Aerodactyl fearing Rock Slide, and anything else with Ice Shard. Takes the Sleep Powder if its a sleep powder lead.
He DOES stay in and takes the Ice Beam from Swampert as Draco Meteor will 2HKO Swampert and Hippowdown, even with the Sp.Atk drop.
Note: Any of the above I have to switch out from I usually switch to Mesprit. If its Jirachi, Ill switch to Magnezone. Has a fair amount of bulk to serve as a revenge killer, and is also fairly slow so it can work under Trick Room, note it still has the full 31 IVs in speed.
Not sure if I chose the best nature for him though.

Trick Roomer 1: Bronzong @ Macho Brace
252 HP/252 Atk/4 Sp.D (Brave)
-Earthquake
-Explosion
-Trick Room
-Gyro Ball

A staple for any trick room team, Gyro ball does approx. 90% to Flygon, OHKO's Gengar and Ttar, and Earthquake OHKOs Magnezone, Heatran, and 2HKO's Jolteon (IIRC). Explosion can get rid of tricky pokemon for me such as Blissey, Suicune and Vaporeon. Only has 1 weakness which often allows me to use him throughout the match.

Trick Room Sweeper 1: Magnezone @ Life Orb
4 HP/252 Sp.Atk/252 Sp.Def (Quiet)

-Flash Cannon
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power (Ice)
-Metal Sound

For the longest time while I was trying to make a good trick room team I kept on getting walled by Vaporeon and setup on by Suicune, eventually I added Magnezone and Rotom-W which helped with these two Pokes considerably. The reason for the EVs in Sp.Defense is because it is mostly there to kill Vap and Suicune, so taking minimum damage from them is very helpful.
Magnezone also kills Skarmory which used to give me trouble, and if trick room is up then Scizor, though I have to be careful of Brick Break.
Magnet Sound is there for hitting Suicune should it have already used CM and supposedly it works for Blissey, but unless Blissey is the last poke then it will just switch out. Havent been using that move too much tbh.
If Trick Room is currently up and they switch in a Gliscor or a Flygon Hidden Power Ice gives them a nasty surprise OHKOing both.

Trick Room Sweeper 2: Marowak@Thick Club
252HP/252Atk/4Def (Brave)

-Earthquake
-Fire Punch
-Stone Edge
-Double Edge

Marowak, is simply the most effective member of this team (tied with Bronzong), with Thick Club doubling his attack. Doesnt require any setup move, guts, choice item, and can still hit harder then virtually any pokemon without one of those items. While he cant switch into Heatran or Ttar, without TR being up, he can Revenge kill them without Trick Room being up, as he OHKO's both with EQ.
Stone Edge helps against Zapdos who I am relatively helpless against and can OHKO Gengar who can spell disaster to my team if Bronzong doesnt have close to full health.
EQ does about 80% to Blissey.

Overall Useful Poke: Rotom-W @Choice Specs

252 Sp.Atk/252 Spe/4 Sp.Def. (Modest)

-Thunderbolt
-Hydro Pump
-Shadow Ball
-Trick

Thunderbolt helps with the Suicune/Vap that give my team trouble, while providing good STAB, Shadow Ball for STAB, Hydro Pump is a great move that can put the hurt on the ground types immune to T. Bolt, and Trick helps me deal with Blissey or Stat Boosters.

Trick Roomer 2: Mesprit @ Leftovers

252 HP/252 Sp.Atk/4 Sp.Def (Quiet)

-Trick Room
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-U-turn

Mesprit was put on this team before I had Magnezone, or Rotom, and was very important for getting its BoltBeam, now however, its lost some value, as Magnezone has a psudo BoltBeam and Rotom has a stronger Electric attack. It doesnt seem to have great bulk, and doesnt seem to pack a punch even though it has a lot of Sp. Atk investment. Regardless, it is an acceptable Trick Roomer as it almost always gets Trick Room up for me once, and is a good pokemon to turn to, for pokes that my lead is weak to, and if me and my opponent need to chose a new poke. In my eyes its a lot like a Bronzong except slightly inferior in almost every aspect.

Overall notes:
*I had a Trick Room Slowbro for the longest time, and it broke my heart to do it, but I ended up getting rid of it for Rotom-W who was able to handle more things and offered less weaknesses.
*I will consider moveset changes to Marowak and Bronzong, but unless I get some really good reasons, I will not get rid of them for new pokes as they have put up some really good numbers for me and are proven to be very effective.
*If I had to chose the pokemon I liked the least it would be Mesprit.
*I have run anywhere from 2-4 Trick Roomers on a single team, while 2 is a little low, Dragonite, Rotom, and Magnezone can function pretty well even outside of Trick Room so its not much of a concern.
*Only Marowak can get hit by Toxic Spikes, which is preferable, as if Marowak gets Burned it is useless.
*Having Rotom helps me revenge stuff outside of Trick Room.

Major Threats:
Most of the Threats you see will be anything that can heal itself, or have substitute as I normally do not get Sweeped, but Stalled out as Trick Room leaves after 5 turns it is the hardest strategy for TR to overcome.

Blissey: While I mentioned many ways I deal with Blissey, most of them can be solved just by Blissey Switching, and often good players will not let Rotom trick it a choice item. Very difficult poke to beat. My best method is to explode on it, which isnt very good considering it has protect.
Gengar: Particuarly the Substitute/Pain Split can mess my team up, if Trick Room is up, then its not a problem as many of my pokes can kill it in one hit quite easily, if its not, then Gengar can cause a lot of problems for my team.
Hippowdown: My only ways of dealing with this is Rotom and Dnite, can stall my team out pretty much to no end.
Zapdos: If I cant get Marowak to Stone Edge it then I can either attempt to Earthquake it on the roost, which is hard to predict, or Explode on it with Bronzong.
Breloom: Outside of Trick Room it will sweep my team, as it outspeeds most of my pokes, allowing it to get virtually unlimited substitutes in.
Curse: Curse pokes can really do a number to my team, If I can I will try to trick with Rotom, however should that fail I dont have any whilwind/roarers to get rid of them.

Considerations: I am currently thinking about a Machamp or Hariyama. Mostly to deal with Blissey and Hariyama can whilwind stat boosters away. Plus both are slow, so that helps on a Trick Room Team.

Have you considered Porygon2 over Mesprit? It messes up a large portion of the metagame with Trace, getting Flash Fire boosts from Heatran, Water Absorb health from Vaporeon, it intimidates Gyarados etc.

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Nature: Quiet
Ability: Trace
EV's: 108 HP | 200 DEF | 200 SP. DEF
IV's: 0 Spe

-Trick Room
-Recover
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt

TR is obvious, Recover is a lifesaver, and BoltBeam gives you impeccable coverage. This also alleviates your Vaporeon struggles, perhaps allowing you to replace Magnezone with a better TR sweeper if you'd like. I personally use Zong as a lead, with Cress, Porygon2 and Zong as my setters, with Mixnite, Marowak and Octillery as sweepers. If Magnezone works for you though, then by all means keep it.

Good luck with your team!
